Well, that was a nasty first experience on Bathurst. From the get go a non qualifier behind me get bumping me until he crashed at Skyline, not after giving me a 2 sec penalty and multiple SR Downs. He showed he could actually make a real pass in lap 2, just didn't have any patience, and ended the race as SR.B. Next a early pitter came out the pit behind me in lap 5. He did the same, bump bump bump and spun me around at Skyline. He ended the race as SR.C. In between another car hit me yet in his defense, I was not doing too good with the Huracan, such oversteer after the Porsche, the dipper is like a skating rink. My best lap was only 2:10, nudging the left stick millimeter by millimeter not to trigger oversteer.

Anyway all the bashing from the SR.B and SR.C drivers cost me 7 SR, pretty much the whole room was red. This might be worse than the Nordschleife.

Second race, in the Lexus, better. I'm driving 2:05's in this one instead of 2;10's lol. However same two drivers had to hit me and while I avoided them most of the race, last lap the SR.B driver dive hit me on the way to Forest Elbow and tapped the wall to give me 3 sec, then punted me off at the bottom of the hill. PD I'll gladly take smaller rooms instead of racing this ****.

Despite the SR.C and SR.B drivers ramming me again I 'survived' with a neutral rating. One more attempt. Good, only one SR.A, rest SR.S, room of 13. Much better.

What a dream to drive with clean drivers over the mountain at night! SR restored, podium finish. Of course one salty driver starts accusing me of dirty driving. For this pass:

He claims I took his line from him and he had to lift cause I was in his way taking the whole corner at the bottom. I've seen it all now, this is some dirty driving by me. I got my time down to 2:04.2, almost had the fastest lap.

Back to Nord. Crap starting 4th, 6 non qualifiers behind me. What's the point lol. And yup, SR Down in T minus two, then the same driver punts me off in T minus one, almost to last. I made it back to 4th during the race, doesn't feel as satisfying to get stuck behind the slower traffic like this.

It makes a huge difference in HDR. I can still see the track with my beams shining through the dust on my 4K HDR tv. On my old 1080p LCD it's blinding.

That pass was clean, it's actually the right way to do it, a fraction later and I would be posting my usual link

What are the tactics at mount panorama, how long does the soft last..

All the race you can use Hards I think. Of course in the last laps will be terrible but if you want to go for no pit stop all; yes you can. But, you cannot maximize the potential with hard.

While I was practicing, I tried 6 laps medium and 3 laps soft. Really does not work. Yeah, after 3 laps softs are getting lost but for mediums it is not much more better as well. In this game, Medium is not useful as much as Hard or Soft tyres. Not grippy enough, or not last long enough. My last 2 laps were nighmare. But, if your style is good, 6M+3S may be useful.

Today I am thinking to try going for 2 pit stops with full softs. Softs are perfect in 2 laps and quite acceptable at third lap too. But more than 3, I do not prefer.

edit: I just checked from a video on youtube, the guy goes for 5laps soft and 4 laps soft. I think, at 5 laps, %50 became red.

If he thought that was a dirty pass he has a steep learning curve ahead of him!

I was perfectly fine with softs pitting in lap 5 in the Lexus. It seems one stop is the preferred way to go, some go on mediums for the first 5 laps yet most just use softs all through the race. My tires were still very good in lap 5, nothing like how Tokyo ate tires a month ago. In the Huracan however, I sucked even with fresh tires.

Love the Ring, but not on the crappiest street tires. Irritating.

New to online racing and can’t decide if I’d rather not qual and work my way up, or qual well and fight off the dolts slamming into everyone to get ahead. Is so irritating how they cut inside and slam into me and toss me out into the grass, and only get a few seconds penalty. While it takes me ten to get back on the track.

People get impatient at the Ring and will always stick their nose on the inside if you don't defensively take control of the apex. If someone is behind me and I swing wide of the apex, I just assume they're going to dive and I keep to the outside expecting them to swing wide of the exit. This usually gives them the pass but sometimes they'll over shoot and scrub their speed to stay on the track at which point you pass them to regain position. Typically though, if they're driving that aggressively they're bound to make a mistake so you just have to pressure them and wait for it.

Race C is a ton of fun, the option to choose tyres and not having to pit for fuel makes it very interesting.

First race i started 5th and finished 3rd, all good. Second race, in a harder room, started 6th and was running 3rd only 1 second behind second place, i was on Mediums too so maybe a tyre advantage in the last two laps. Then the crying started, my 3 year old threw up all over himself and his bed, I abandon the race (leave the car on side of the track) and lost some 40 SR points and 2,000DR points.

Damn.

I’m done for this week.

Race A, ramming, 5 second penalty every time you brush the wall
Race B, Nurburgring - enough said
Race C - nightmare, track is way too narrow, the braking points seem to change every lap.

I'd be interested to know the effects on DR and SR if you let the 3 year old do one of the sport races for you. :nervous:

I'm half afraid of trying Daily C and then half delighted. Really enjoyed the night driving last night when dong car selection tests and qualification. Getting brake markers right was the biggest challenge. I reckon my SR & DR will take a nose dive but I'll probably have fun too. Last night was practice. Supra was all over the place. AMG was stable but not consistent. I reverted to my trusty Vantage and while only did 5 laps was happy to be chipping time off the quali time. Lights on the Vantage are not as good though but I reckon with other cars around that will be less important than on TT. Question though, is anyone using the Vantage? Can it go the 9 laps on no stop with hard tyres? Is a 6 lap / 5 lap 1 stop on softs better? I've only raced daily B as I normally don't have 30 mins for a race but C is the only one interesting me this week.

Back in the c race saddle...Regulators! Mount up...
No qual in yet. I wanna maintain my sr. So starting at the back I am able to claw my way up to 8th. The kink is annoying in the dark...
The room I was in today was a bit mixed with some c s and they kinda held things up first few laps trying to battle up top.
Better to get through the mountaintop smooth and not overtake or block.
I made a couple nice overtakes and clipped 2 spots from the chase to the checkers final lap, again due to people battling. I think I may have seen a member here make a fine pass down Conrod that lap and the fella he passed barged by...If that was you at least I passed that guy at the line due to his penalty...
Such a fun race, I gained 8 spots and only 2 dr lol.
I am enjoying clean racing with the 99 sr so I am not sure if I wanna mix it up and try for qual...
It would be a shame to lose sr for this one...It’s such fun...Awesome choice for a c...

I'm actually really enjoying race A. I'm high B, low A driver rating so I'm trying to get over the hump and stay in A. I'm at 59 pole positions so I'm pumped for the 65th one! That Nissan feels fast for sure but the part that I'm messing up the most is right after the tunnel.

I'm a similar level to you, can I ask what lap time you've managed? I'm at 1:30.1 but that wasn't a perfect lap so I know faster is possible. And do you mean the right hander after the first tunnel? If so I agree that maintaining a high speed through there is key as it's followed by a fairly long straight. A high exit speed is important but getting the turn in bang on is really difficult the way the car likes to slide around!

I haven't done any races yet but enjoy just hot lapping at the moment. I will give racing a go but am guessing you have to be really careful to not pick up penalties.

I already have enough trouble already focusing on everything with AT. I got a pretty good idea how it'll turn out if I tried MT....all bad, all bad .

I thought the same thing but I recently went MT and turned all the assists off (I was using TCS 2) except ABS and I find its easier to drive. Being able to control the gears really helps with understeer and oversteer issues in and out of the corners.

on a side note, I love Bathurst but I'm not feeling the night racing.

Race C - nightmare, track is way too narrow, the braking points seem to change every lap.

It doesn't have to be.

Go medium-medium with the tyre, this allows the most consistency lap to lap, well Hard-Hard would but it's slow. When qualifying find your brake markers and in race pull that back a touch every lap. Don't change the compound or it'll add to the variation.

Keep your nose clean, even cede places if you have to, and you'll go OK.

Bathurst is meant to be hard, it is what it is, it has bitten some very good drivers IRL over the years.

The Mountain is my favorite this week for sure. Love the Ring, but not on the crappiest street tires. Irritating.

I’ve given up on my DR. Keeping my SR at 99 and racing clean and having fun. I do usually have a weekly favorite. In recent weeks was Tokyo, Le Sarthe, and Suzuka.
Depends what SR you are at. If you’re B or lower, starting at the back might be a decent strategy, as you avoid the mess at the start, and if you’re pace is good you’ll catch up. If your SR is A or S though, I’ve been starting in the top 5 almost every race for the Nurb race, and not having any problems with dirty driving (so far). It’s actually been a pleasant suprised to find so many clean drivers in public races. Also, at SR A and S, people tend to be a lot faster (even if their DR is not the highest), so it can be a lot harder to catch up.

With the tires, brake early, that’s their main weakness (the car isn’t exactly slow either). For cornering, really focus on being precise and placing the car bang1on the racing line, in the dark rubber grooves that are down on the track. You get so much more extra grip on the racing line compared to being even 1/2 a car width off of it.

Were you on softs to be okay after 5 laps? I've been driving the Lexus but destroying the right front over the mountain. Otherwise it's perfect, fast easy to drive and good looking.

I managed a 1.30.5 in a quick quali session yesterday, but like you said, that wasn’t mistake free. Doing some races, racing against mostly SR A and S drivers with DR ranging from B to S, pole times were low 1:29s, I remember one was a 1:29.1xx, most times were sub 1:30, and my 1:30.5 was basically only good enough for not last. I was definitely able to make up a number of positions in races, but passing at this track is really tough, so putting in work in qualifying will make a big difference.

What is the`lightest`time to race Bathurst? What i mean is what time is it not so dark,as in twilight or dusk or is it just same level of dark all through the night?Sorry but am i making myself sound like an idiot!!:p
Im trying not to by the way.

Race B Nurb Nordschleife:
Porsche GT3 997 '09 is showing a huge understeer after 1.32 . They've just destroyed this wonderfull car.
I'll check later the 996 '01 .This was the most perfect porsche stock setting before 1.32.

It's full on night time all the time all this week at Bathurst. There is no lighter time to race. I guess there's some weird eclipse going on or something.

I've only done 3 C races, this week, but I have noticed a couple of things about racing in the dark. Since I use the chase camera, and I can see my whole car, I really don't need to bother looking at the radar, because if the back of my car is dark, I'm good. If it's lit up, I know I've got company.

The other thing is that when your headlights illuminate a big cloud of dust in the road ahead, that's all you can see. Usually, there's nothing on the other side of dust cloud, as someone just had a tire or two go off. But sometimes there's another car right there, to surprise you. A cloud of dust is almost like a yellow flag, when you race in the dark.
