I use TCS 3. 2nd gear for T1 And the final two corners. 3rd gear for majority of cornering. Saves time from shifting. The Porsche is good for carrying momentum and can really throw it's weight around early and hold that line.

I hear lots of cars downshifting to 2nd and they lose too much speed. I make up crazy time and the hairpin corners and also pull away. Also, trust those Porsche brakes!

I shift with my index fingers (L1 up/R1 down), very comfortable for me.

I use R2 and L2 for gas and brake, index fingers are occupied. It's a problem in Ace Combat 7 as well, can't use yaw and speed controls at the same time. Having my middle finger on the triggers feels very weird and painful after a while. Perhaps some day we can use this to drive.

Build into a VR headset, should be good for binary actions like shifting gears at least. Think of the gear you want to be in and execute.

I'm so used to AT that I time my other inputs with the gear shifts, and since fuel saving has been abandoned AT is almost as competitive. GTS is really very comfortable to play. Frequent brakes, works fine while standing, only need 3 fingers.

I'm struggling to break into 1:59s, such a difficult track on DS4.

I tend to struggle at street circuits. I'm fast on the more open sections of Bathurst between Forrest's Elbow, and The Cutting. But, the mountain feels too much like a street circuit. I rely far too much on looking deep into/through corners.

I'm sure I'll get there. Just need more laps.
 
Did two rac a this morning before work. Managed a 130.280 and had two good races starting 3rd and finished 3rd. I can taste a 1.29 but will need a few more laps to get there.

Race B.... i must admit to not having much km's down on the ring, i love it but it intimidates me and i can never drive it clean it seems, also have not touched it since getting the wheel. Run 5 laps to put a baseline down. Got 8.12 or something like that. Which to be fair is still just driving around the track with zero attack. I hope i can get that under 8 minutes by the end of the week lol

Ooh it's in the dark! I guess I need to play some on there as well at night time in HDR. Nordschleife is too much fun though and the sun is out. It would be a bad time to try night racing with the sun in my eyes.

That's a very good point. It will be easier to navigate the track if the room you're in is dark or dimly lit.

Has anyone of you noticed any major viability changes in Gr.3 after the BoP adjustments? I noticed that the Ford GT and VW GTI VGT received horsepower nerfs without a weight compensation, which was probably warranted given that they were both very competitive. Then again, the 650S and SLS AMG got the exact same treatment, even though they weren't exactly top tier before :confused:

This is from a couple of nights ago... all was going great and i was enjoying some close races... and then this absolute whopper comes along and spoils it all. I'm in the grey TT and he is in the red & white TT. I've cut the video up to show different views from different cars - i think he probably took out 80% of drivers all in all.

looks like a dozen other guys I've raced but I think the NA server has more idiots than the Euro.
 
Before I got my DriveHub and was able to use my DFGT I managed to get gold in everything except the full lap of Nurb(got silver) and the 30 lap enduro event in the Porsche(got silver) using X for Gas, Square for brake, auto trans and D pad for steering, no joysticks, I’m old school GT. :)

Edit: I don’t think I could be competitive in sport mode with the DS4 though, I had to run TC2 2, ASM and AT, I wasn’t very smooth lol, continuously tapping the arrow of the D pad for long sweeping corners doesn’t lead to smooth driving haha.

I use the right stick for gear changed. I set it up like a sequential shifter. Forward /up for up shifting and backward/down for down shifting. It works fantastic.
 
Sigh, I can't for the love of God maintain my position, my consistency. I qualified first and played around 5 times race B, leaving from first and everytime i managed to spin or get off the track, freaking anxiety. At least my DR went from D to C, so at least that's that.

3rd gear sounds a bit under-rpm, plus it needs a lot of time for them to climb back - that's just my opinion.

What time have you pulled out?

Also, mad things happen mid-grid towards the back, holy macro they can compete into diving olympics and win!

Two corners prove very difficult for me, Forrest's Elbow and T1 (Hell corner). They are worth so much time in this game and both are massively tricky.
 
Oh right, I forgot to mention, during a race Saturday night, Race A actually, mid race my wheel popped off my rig into my hands haha. I didn’t know what to do and I didn’t want to press pause or quit so I just pressed it against the rig where it would normally go and kept driving lol. During the next couple of straight aways I managed to get it reattached enough to finish the race but I had dropped a few spots in the process, I somehow managed to not go off the road though! Haha :D

That’s what I get for not having it mounted properly, it’s doubling as a clamp to hold my monitor in place lol. It wasn’t so bad before I jacked the monitor up on blocks, but I had to do that because I couldn’t see the radar behind the rim of the wheel. It did put the rim on a nice angle for driving though. :)

I already have enough trouble already focusing on everything with AT. I got a pretty good idea how it'll turn out if I tried MT....all bad, all bad :lol:.

When my right leg was at its worst I tried left foot braking in my real car to compensate (next to using cruise control). That did not go very smoothly lol. And I even mistakenly pressed the gas a couple times. Some things are just hard wired into your brain after 4 decades of driving. Luckily I keep a safe distance at all times so I didn't run into anyone. Although it does annoy people greatly when you put the car in neutral and slowly roll to a stop at the next light. People like to hurry up to wait. Yet it's always fun when they're all queued up in the left lane and you casually roll by in the right lane right as the light turns green. Timing is everything :lol: Btw I love those pedestrian signals with the countdown, very useful, speed up or cancel cruise control and roll out.

Race A is like a cruel joke, here Have a nice car to drive, but the tires are made of ice and the track is lined with walls. Somewhere in PD headquarters there’s a group of guys huddled around a monitor laughing their @$$’s off while watching replays. :)

:lol: Guess that race was intense before the pop off :eek:. And even more intense afterwards :scared:. Much respect for keeping it between the lines :bowdown:.

I’d say it’s mostly the drivers that are the problem, not the tires or the track.

This is one race where yielding a spot, keeping momentum, and living to fight another day is a solid strategy, but most people don’t seem to think when they race.

I have not put in a qual yet though. Good thing too, because it seemed a bit dark out there...
Started 17, Hells corner lap 2 I have a run up mountain straight but I kinda haven’t found my marks yet in the dark...I backed out, even though the CLEAN Brazilian just ahead did no blocking. I waited and lap 3 he lost traction pushing hells too much and I slipped by!
So tough to be behind traffic on the mountain...ran wide up top and back to 15th now...
Lap 4 the CLEAN DRIVING Brazilian pulls right up mountain straight since he again messed up Hells.
Good on ya for being clean! It is nice to have South America back more skilled drivers make things safer.
People pit lap four and I stay out into 10th...I run a bit wide through the chase and now NEED to find pit lane. I succeed and get back out 14th...
13 runs wide at Griffins so now I’m 13...Fresh boots yeah!
Nothing much happens for a while until final lap I can catch a glimpse of tenth up ahead on mountain straight and I see a pen...hmmmm...hmmmmmm...
I am gaining...gaining....he’s just up ahead on Conrod....
He runs wide at the chase a bit! Then Murray’s also!
I clip him at the line for a top ten!
That race is an experience for sure...

No qualy time. Haven't looked at my race lap either.
The flat-6 turbo has excellent torque from 3rd. I use 3rd at the braking left-hander, just before the climb begins. Leave it in 3rd for the right-hander at the start. I keep my momentum up when people are changing from 2nd-3rd. After that, the short fast uphill climb to the right right-hander, I also keep momentum in 3rd. Again, TCS 3 doesn't hinder power delivery. Gives me a smooth full throttle assault for the long climb up the hill, all the way to the Karrussell.

Oh I haven’t even done a race yet, I’m just trying to do hot laps haha. Even that’s really difficult when even the slightest brush of a wall gives a 5s penalty and a ruined lap. It’s frustrating.

You’ll get there! What car are you using? The Mustang seems really good so far, I’m down to 1:03.6 in it, it’s got good headlights too lol. Lots of power for up the hill and fairly tame coming back down through the twisty bits, brakes are 2 to the rear and TCS 2. This track is awesome at night!! :D

It was about as intense as it can get while doing 125km/h In a 68 Fiat haha. :D
