The car way better. Didn't put a tyre wrong except too much curb at the exit of the chicane.

I was able to fill the mirrors of the R8 ahead of me. Go to 5th because it got out of shape on the last lap.

I had 3 races this Saturday Arvo, and quit because the last race was all Japanese. The 2nd race was all Japanese but for myself and an New Zealander. The first race had four NZ/Aussies - the rest Japanese. I am not a racist but there does seem to be some Nationalism going on. If your the only Australian I get paranoid that they want to beat you that bit more ...

I was terrified in the first race because my pattern is to loose 1500 DR in the first three races. And in the first race, was second until the final chicane. The Japanese person behind me (it was close for the last lap) just booted me through the corner ... maybe I deserved it a bit because I put myself into the middle of the corner, rather than on the right side - but otherwise I'd have just given him the place. So I came 5th ... due to getting a time penalty for being hit in the back. I slowed after the corner to dissolve the penalty, and as usual, it took some time for the penalty to start to go away. I wondered how much DR I'd chucked away but it turned out I gained 388. Too bad I did not get the second. I lost no SR so despite getting a penalty in time: so PD doesn't say its a penalty on me, doesn't penalise the guy behind in time, but I cop the 0.588 seconds because I drove off the track, which also hurt me. All up it cost me a couple of seconds.

I guess the secret is to drive faster. Still wondering if I should have pulled over and accepted 3rd place.

Deliberately started last on the grid at P14 without a laptime for Race B, got up to P5 at the end. Raced consistently and defensive, but still got my SR hurt because of an idiot running all over the track and pushing everyone out. That poor mate must've gotten his wheels filled with kerb marks for being so bad with his one-lap wonder in Qualifying.

Lucky me was allowed to play today I am back at DR B. First race was bad because of a weird start glitch. Anyone ever had this happend?
I always rev the engine at the start because thats just what I do but I did not expect there not being a count down. Standing starts in daily races confirmed?

Weird how the glitch happened to everyone, haven't seen that until now. I've only started like this once, and that was due to really sketchy connection that led to me getting DC'd halfway through lap 1. I imagine my car appeared to teleport around on everyone else's screens.

I've done that a couple times.

Me too, slow down to scrub a penalty before crossing the line only to realize there is another lap left lol, I’ve done that a couple of times.

Sounds like a missed some fun last night, hopefully tonight will be just as good. :)

I'm sure we have all done it many times. Cross the finish line with style, thinking to yourself, yeah baby thats how it's done.. "wait what's going on? Oh crap there is another lap"

Would be nice to have some more races with you guys tonight. There is something calming about knowing you can trust half or more of the field to race clean

I agree, you can definitely race more confidently knowing the guys around you are safe/clean racers. :)

First time it ever happened to me. Strange week so far for me. Never had this many disconnects and now getting strange starts as a bonus..

Oh right, I noticed last night that if you rev the engine up in the Mustang before the rolling start begins you get a little boost it seems when it kicks into gear for the rolling start to begin, I wasn’t redlining it, just feathering it at around half rpm. Maybe I just smoked one too many Lefties but I’m pretty sure it was working.

The little boost is always there, then auto drive slows everyone down again. Although perhaps I always get that little boost as I'm revving the engine. I play with the sound mostly turned off anyway, with AT that car is redlining through half the track sounding like a clogged vacuum cleaner, whooooooo all the way.

Hopefully I'll see you guys again tonight. After the game started putting me in lower DR rooms my DR is falling down faster again. 18K left.

I just thought of something. I have a flight simulator that is probably 15 years old, and it has an option to use real-time weather. That would be pretty cool in this game. I can picture people waiting for temperature and humidity to be just right before doing their Q laps. Everyone would turn into amateur meteorologists.

I would imagine that this time of year, we'd be equipping snow tires to race at Nordschleife.

Hopefully!! I’ve had a bunch of clean races so far but I haven’t really had to interact with many other cars on the track either like you would starting in the back or even mid pack. I can see it being a tough race when you’re trying to dance between other cars, one slight slip off the edge and you're gone in most cases.

Imagine, running that Porsche last week on old Nordy on studded winter tires with chains on them haha. That would be serious!!

I loved MS Flight Simulator, a shame they stopped after FSX, I've played all of them since FS4. Toying with the wind was fun, get the windspeed fast enough and do a standing start take off with a Boeing 747 :) Or messing with other settings

Can't beat that in your jumping Mustang

PD could at least change the time of day for the tracks, although that might get annoying for those that can only race at night. Real time weather would be awesome though. Or any weather, what's taking so long.

I've always used that trick when I first started off in GT Sport. Rev up to near the power band of the engine to give it a little kick across the start.

It's pretty funny when you get to shave off tenths down the back-straight when the boost works well.

I had fun toying with the settings. With the right wind, you can stay airborne in a Cessna, while going backwards. Of course, I flew a 747 under the Golden Gate bridge, and tried to land it on the smallest runways I could find, etc. Too bad they quit making them.

Alright. 5 hours of work done, free after work beer, drank. Time to drive home sideways (snowing again!) and fire up the ps4 for an afternoon at willow springs. Hopefully see a few of you there.

:cheers::gtpflag:

It was a lot of fun. I flew one of those through the London tower bridge.

The space underneath looked a little too cramped lol.

There were some tricky landing fields, also due to a bug some landing strips in South America were on a 1000 feet high dirt pad sticking out of the landscape. Can't fail that landing! The hardest part was turning around and take off again, although just driving off the edge would do the trick.

FSX was great. I 'discovered' there were great lakes in Africa I never knew about. Himalayas, Alps, Grand Canyon were my favorite spots. Flying from Grand Canyon Ntl Park through the canyon in a Cessna to arrive in Las Vegas at dusk, so relaxing. Landing a helicopter on mount rainier, or oil platform, or hopping around the lakes in Northern Canada in a De Havilland Beaver.

Maybe one day we'll get a driving sim tied to Google street data, go anywhere you want in the world. FS' procedural terrain generation was great at the time. That game did wonders for my world geography. It would be so awesome with VR integration.

Anyway Gran Turismo took over my life after FS burned itself down with Microsoft Flight.

Tons of fun. 👍 I logged way more hours on that flight sim, than GT.
I always liked taking off and landing at Lukla airport, in Nepal. What makes it tricky, in addition to it being a short runway on the edge of a cliff, is that it's 9,300 ft. elevation. Since the air is thinner, with less oxygen content, engine performance is reduced. Also, the ground speed will need to be much higher than the indicated airspeed, to achieve lift. :nervous:

IRL, I learned a few things in flight training that are usable for driving cars (mostly principles of flight/physics).

I used to fly FS 2000 a lot. Laps around Manhattan in the 737, going under all the bridges, barrel rolls between the Twin Towers. I can't even guess at how many hours I spent trying to land the Lear jet on an aircraft carrier with no tail hook. Closest I came, I approached below the deck, pulled up and basically stalled and hit reverse thrusters as I touched down, full brakes and tried to pull a u-turn at the last minute...just tipped over the bow. Could never quite kill that last few MPH.

I'm back to SR-S at 83, trying to get back to 99. Sometimes it feels like there's a conspiracy to give me SR down! Finally raced the Shelby GT 350. Still can't get below 1:30. Q is a 30.47 right now. I'll have to go back and look at @Pigems lap again and find some time. Entered 2 races, first one started 3rd, finished 2nd. The P2 qualifier was all over, getting sideways and blocking when I got a run on him. Finaly he hit the sand and I got clear. Thought I might have someting for the leader, but going into T1 on L5 the same guy came out of nowhere and bumped me wide. Gotta look at the replay and see what happened. I did blow my drive onto the straight that lap, and was down almost 5mph at start/finish, but I thought he was 1.5+ seconds back. Anyway, I finished behind him but he had un-burnt penalties, so P2.
Second race I gridded P2 and got away with P1 and P3. P3 tried to stuff it up the inside on T1, but I held on to the inside for P2. He tried to push me off with a bump, but it really only pushed him wide, and I didn't get an SR down, so no harm, other than the gap to P1. He qualified .8 seconds faster than me, but racing the C race from the back has helped my patients and consistancy, and I caught him before the last corner when he messed up the tight section. Got inside and instead of ceding the position, he tried pushing me into the dirt on the inside, which made him go wide and gave me breathing room. I did a string of 1:30's to take the win, clean race bonus, and fastest lap only 2/100's off of my Q time. A nice start to my race day!

Edit...I have to figure out how to get screen shots/video from my PS4 to my tablet to upload...

That's probably what I'll end up doing. I always post from my Android tablet, and I don't have a way to get any of that on here. My only computer is being worked on now, but when I get it back, I'll have a USB friendly device to post videos on.
