Just finished the Green Hell. Holy whiplash Batman! I was in a mixed grid of A's, Bs, a couple of Cs and 5 Ds, with me qualifying P7/17. Really 7/10 since 7 didn't post a qualifying time.

I had a great start, and with the standing start I was in 2nd at the first corner. Unfortunately the car didn't handle *anything* like it did in qualifying, so I screwed up the first of the two tight corners after the 2nd corner. When I got back on the track I was bashed six ways from Sunday and tumbled down the list. Finally got going again and was held up by slower drivers, and trying not to hit them, getting rear ended multiple times till I got to the end of the first decent of the Nordschleife. I was struggling with the difference in handling but managed to more or less hold down my tumbled position. The 2nd lap was easier and I made some ground, past a couple of people, then got rammed again. Finished 12th with 5 seconds of penalties, and I wasn't the only one!

Somehow after all that carnage I still managed to creep up from 93 to 95 SR and even gained a few DR points. I really need to learn how to read Kanji, I have no idea what 95% of the pre/post race comments are!

Just did three races at Suzuka. I managed to set my personal best in qualifying( 2:00:60) and felt pretty about it.

I don’t know what it is, but I’m never able stay consistent at this track. Finished 6th, 8th and 12th while qualifying top 3 in all races. It wasn’t even that I was a victim of dirty driving. All my mistakes were my fault. I think it has something to do with the track being extremely unforgiving and me trying to push too hard. One tire in the dirt and you’re done...


Anyways, I will try again later tonight. Maybe I’ll stay more conservative and just try to complete a clean race. Should be enough for top 6.

The only thing I have to say is what do people expect when they try to overtake leading up to 130R? There is no way to go through that corner side by side. I usually back out and concede the position. But it’s not right. The alternative would be a surefire crash...
 
Doing Suzuka today and the first race was fun until in the last chichane I was pushed out .. oh well my objective is to harvest SR today so position is less important.
I did this sweet pass, and it is for moments like this that I love this game :gtpflag:
 
Potentially, now if it were me, and the car in front was drifting to the right I would go left, which was where the racing line is. I wouldn’t then block him again because that’s naughty IMO

Yeh, since you gave him the space that's where he should go. If I see someone obviously going fast enough to get to the corner first I pull over. If they cant get to the corner before I move into position for the corner I shut the door. I'm sure there were a few people who thought I was blocking them on "The Ring". It wasn't blocking, it was desperately attempting to stay on the track!

That's all I can think of, but it seems like very few of the cars handle the same during the race as in qualifying, even in races with no tyre wear/fuel. I did find the TT a handful. I prefer something a little more tail happy, but if its a race on the nurb, I'm there, even if its a Copen. Ok I draw the line at anything with a blue oval :lol:.
 
I got my 4th sport mode win today at Suzuka! :cool: Although I haven’t yet reviewed the replay :rolleyes: this is how I experienced the race;

Qualified 2nd, managed to hold on to it for most of the first lap, although being under attack of 3rd place going into 130R and managing to defend into the Casio chicane, but messing up the exit and getting passed into turn 1. I was afraid the fight for P2 would cause me to lose too much time to P1, fortunately P2 made a tiny mistake through the esses and I could retake P2. For the rest of lap 2 the P3 car kept quiet close, but I kept my cool and kept the tiny gap I had steady, and on lap 3 I got my lucky break as P1 made a mistake in Degner 1 and I took the lead :cool: On the standings I saw him dropping down and the gap to P2 increasing, so I’m guessing him rejoining the track also caused the P3 car to get slowed down and I had a semi comfortable gap to now P2 and paced myself for the remainder of lap 3 and lap 4 and brought the car home safely to take my 4th victory!

I’ll probably post a video of the race on YouTube later today :)
 
I use google translate app to kinda read what they are saying. Not totally all there.
It's hard to input kanji especially that their letters combine :P

I do some overtakes there once in a while. It's possible as long as you trust the person next to you. What I do more often though are feints- I'm gonna poke my nose to the inside of the car ahead of me and stick it there until the very last moment :P I hit the brakes a bit to back out so I'm pretty slow going through 130R itself, but it's 50/50 worth since the defending car just washes wide as he expects me to be on the inside alongside him there :lol:
 
Done four Race A's now. There's guys with ~14 seconds faster lap times at the pole. They can't hold the position and try to take shortcuts during the last lap. Sigh.. Other than that it's been pretty nice and clean.

If our paths ever cross on that particular section of Suzuka, remind me to shut the door on you and brake early and hard :D
 
Blue moon got my dr reset to 15000 from 40000 great...

Nurb race seems to suit me today should have had 3 wins but because of some harsh corner penalties it is only one and two second places. Back for more tonight :)
 
i got absolutely pwned from pole to last in the single race C i did today and nearly got reset to A/B again -____- shame cos its fun to race even when that kind of stuff happens but i don't want to get reset again

Car 7 trying to pass the car in front, can not get pass and has to slow down only to be eaten by the car behind him.. reminds me of all my races on N24 today. Well except the last race, were i on purpose dropped to last to work on my SR, the DR rating does not matter to me as it is now.. anyhow, somehow i ended up 9 anyway,

I'm actually getting along quite nicely with the Audi TT Cup.

Using the mid range on the medium to fast corners coupled with some left foot braking seems to give me an advantage on corner exits over the drivers around me and dare I say; I'm slightly starting to like this combination.

I've just watched how ppl get a 1:16 time on willow springs. Talking about cheaters. PD should do something about that. :mischievous:

Is that giant corner cutting still going on, why even bother using any of those two layouts if it's still allowed, just pointless. :banghead:

My assumption is that Polyphony aren't paying close enough attention to know this

For some weird reason, I always set the FL of the race on Lap 1. Sometimes that FL is even faster than my quali, but I cannot replicate it at all on the following laps and even the quali time trial :irked:

I have a few hunches why, but grrrr why :banghead:

I know, yet somehow when it happened at Monza they noticed and reset the boards, whereas here it goes on regularly without a reset in sight.

Thought last time they banished everyone from sony who were seen doing it 1st time round?

I don't know but if it's not fixed you don't select either this version or the other until it is, unless of course they want people to miss the last few corners out completely.
