How come I keep getting hit, get 1s, serve it but the guy with 10s never serves it and doesn't have a red dot at the end? I'm seriously wondering why I came back to GTS... Makes no sense. Should I ignore penalties?

At brands you can scrub it while racing with some coasting into turns, and you can also get rid of 5+ seconds while entering the pits

I mean the game tells me he got a 10s penalty for dive bombing and the never scrubs it off, finishes the race with PENALTY flashing but doesn't get a time penalty nor a red dot next to his name... Makes no sense...

Only reason I asked is just watched a video of Monza, none of the cars looked ghosted but seemed to be driving through each other but not serving a plenty.

Prime example driving up the back straight both cars at full pace, one had the red flashing penalty and they drive through each other but like I say at full pace not serving a penalty?

hmm, maybe just one of those things where the game doesn'y show a ghsoted car when it actually should be, I've had a few of those, also could be down to a lower rank, I have noticed in slower lobbies that cars will "ghost" a lot more often.

Oh. I had that happen to me at tsukuba the other day, some guy was supposed to get 5 seconds so I let him pass to take his position on the line and he ended up with a clean race, it seems like a glitch. It only happened once in 20+ races since this recent patch though so I don't think it's common

The game is lying to you, seen it happen myself and seen others say the same. On your screen he hit you and got a penalty but on his that didn't happen or at least the penalty part never happened. I'd guess lag issues are the cause but I'm not sure and it's not new but you can see it clearly now it tells you of penalties and shows them above cars, it was just instinct something was up before.

Lag. The penalties are managed by the clients, not by the host. Your game detects a collision and tells you he got a penalty but his game never saw that collision and thereby didn‘t have any reason to speak out a penalty.

Anyway, I stopped now. Did more races than I intially wanted but I got soaked in :D Got a pole and two wins but overall screwed up big time for the whole afternoon. A lot of dirty players were out today and in combination with a track I suck at (Interlagos) and a track that tries to kill you all the time (Brands) I guess I should be happy about only loosing 1800DR :dunce:

What a mess that is... I guess, get crappy internet and avoid penalties?

Pretty much. Someone once posted a thread on here bragging about how their lag punts opponents off for them without them actually touching the other cars or it effecting them in any way, including penalties. The only issue is you would gets lots of not so nice messages from the other players.

I got hit by a laggy Brazilian guy and got a massive penalty. I had no idea where he was. He didn't get anything. That was weird!

Yes lag messes the system up entirely and in fact could be responsible for a lot of the complaints about penalties and there is nothing you can do about it.

PD could sort it out tho, but they‘re busy with other stuff I guess :dunce: I don‘t get why penalties are handled by the client, doesn‘t make any sense...

Makes me sad to read this post but I guess I'll have to accept it and take a few benzos when it happens haha

Glad to finally meet you on track mate, shame we didn't get a battle out of it! I did say Hi though, flashed my hazards ;)

They could but I doubt they want to start excluding people from their game because they have a poor connection and any move like this would unfairly penalise people who just happen to live very far from their regional server. I'm sure if there was an easy solution they'd try to fix it, luckily major laggers are not that common, at least in my experience, could be different elsewhere.

Maybe not so much in Europe but it is in the Americas. You rarely get that many players with 4-5/5 in terms of latency.

I was saving fuel and let you through. Moments later my mom came in and somehow managed to make the right stick of the DS4 rotate which made my camera go nuts and send me off into the gravel 🤬

Id argue that Low S is dirtier than A. I always have great races in A but hardly ever in low S. High S is the best for sure, but something about Low S make everyone think they are entitled whatever part of the track they please
Hmm, that's not the case for me
In general higb A and low S are at about the same cleanliness for me, at least on my experience. I can sometimes see the trait of clean A drivers waiting for you to make a mistake to pass at Low S, even

on the new dragon trail gardens track i had someone right behind me and then when i braked for the corner he did not and i was ghosted and he went right through me. no penalty for him at the end of the race either. very strange. i guess i learned that if you are following someone, just dont brake into a slow corner and they will ghost and i will fly right through...

has anyone else experienced this?

damn. yeah, signed up to say this was me. Sorry about that - but lol yes, I slowed for a penalty! I think I quit the race not long after this.

Result being a huge loss of DR/SR and a run of boring races at the front in the lower SR events.

The penalty system is it stands is just too ridiculous sometimes. Nudged = penalty, try to serve a penalty = penalty. Why do they think serving penalties on track is the right thing to do?

The real penalty here is having to race against fields that are 2s+ a lap slower until your SR gets back up to where it was before. Complete snoozefest. It guess it also penalises those who are genuinely 2s+ off the pace because they'll rarely get wins with this penalty system.

No problem actually as long as you doesn't have intention for brake checking to me. And I agree with you penalty system is ridicoulus but what we can do? what only can do just adapting with situation. Ah I seeing that you off, just if you didn't out maybe you get better SR little bit. And sorry being that guy for rant about this man

Just curious, what were you thinking?! On both those moves! (The massive dive-bomb accompanied by edging Mr. Baliwa off track, and the dangerous brake check). We all make mistakes, I hope you learnt from this because I would not want to be in that race.

They definitely can be dirtier.
for your curiousity...

the dive bomb - i dont have the replay - i quit. this race was a mess from turn 1. i must've thought they were going off with the line they were taking though i should've realised the mustang is not great at such a tight line either in my hands at least

penalty/brake check - actually the penalty thing flashed red and by this point figured i'd just stop before the corner rather than in the corner and wait for it to go down. Wasn't looking at the mirrors at all. I thought those serving penalties ghosted now.

Yes that's pretty bad moves(dive bomb), for me that include as "big risk big reward or big mistakes" And about dive bomb that actually pretty safe as long as he not taking out people to outside track is fine by me cause I usually doing that too and result much more bad than that

I will back up Sunday on here: yes that race is pretty messed up if I not wrong you are from top and fall to behind right? And for penalty system at that point I expecting for ghosted penalty player which I get that on Monza pass racer front of me just like that cause they get ghosted but in Interlagos IS NOT yes with caps lock since not only with him but other player too.

Yeh. What I think it comes down to is how hard you brake, where you brake, and how slow the game thinks you should be in a specific corner. If you brake too early and are not carrying enough speed through a corner with traffic close behind you, you get ghosted. Also seems to happen if you are under heavy braking deep in a corner.

I understand your point. However, i was on the racing line, on the leaders pace (was in 3rd place when it happened, 5 sec behind 1st place). i saw the guy coming and thought oh yay ramming time, then he just appeared in front of me and carried on with no penalty... oh well! i will continue to play gtsport until i reach DR A+ and level 50.

I have the feeling that since the last update there is faster ghosting. When somebody is just a bit on the grass he is immediately ghosted.

I want to start doing the C races but what's a typical equation for determining fuel mixture and pit stops? I'm sure it depends on the course and the car but is there general rule of thumb that can be initially applied as a starting point?

I'm more of a consistent clean lap driver than a hot lap driver so I'm hoping I'm better off in the mini endurance races.
Late to comment on this, so maybe you’ve worked it out yourself by now, but if not; most people aren’t messing with the fuel maps. Short shifting is generally the way to go, of course how early you shift depends on the car. Might take a one or two races to work out, but it’s as simple as that.

I didn't bother qualifying today, didn't have much time to race. So now I'm back in DR.B, less penalties!

I did 2 KTM races on Monza, kinda boring, too slow! It was clean though for a change though. Then 2 races on Brand's hatch with a lot of fighting going on yet I made up 9 places with the clean race bonus in the last one. The first one I got bump passed and got the 1 sec "why were you driving on the track" penalty. It was fun watching people fly off the track everywhere yet GR.4 a lso kinda too slow for my liking. Interlagos should be faster in GR.3 but no thanks.

Now you don't really need to change tires anymore in the daily C I have to unlearn hitting the button as soon as I pit. No tire change, no tire change, no tire change, enter pit, click, doh. Where's the undo button.

Raced Interlagos in class B/S so many people keep thinking that I'm barge passing when I'm just trying to not rear end them. It's not a collision level problem since I'm braking early to avoid it but having people zig zag defensively on you on the straight is annoying as hell. Overall just people not knowing how to drive 2 wide on narrow turns. The end result is always people around me stacking penalties careening off of me and me getting bogged down in their stupid one sided fights.

It's all still fun but it is just annoying knowing that you won't make it to third place because 4th place would rather mess with you than pass the next car.

Arghh super annoying, a guy divebombs me, pushes me off track, I get a penalty, he doesn’t. Then after the corner he brake checks me! Post race he said that was “letting me pass”.

Absolute bull, dirty and he knew it

Race after that was stupid too, put into last place first turn, to be expected at this point... ran a perfect clean race got back to 6th but cut too much of the pit lane on the final straight! What an idiot :(

Was in a race with @ststav01, didn’t encounter him though. Congrats on second place.

The matchmaking feels kind'a weird when I finish in second place, 10 seconds behind first but 20 seconds ahead of third.

I guess that's right. The two players that knock me down to last place, they both leave the race.

And while he's doing that, the person in 3rd place is getting further ahead, while the pack that was 6 seconds behind you is now filling up your rear view?
