A clean race bonus at Monza made me feel good.:gtpflag:

Against my better judgement I raced 1 race at Monza this morning cause I got disconnected from race C. I started last cause I didnt have time to qualify (had to leave for work), I figured I would just run a clean race and see where I finish. On the last lap going into the Lesmos I am passing the 3rd place car on the inside because he was very slow thru the chicane and his front bumper is at my rear bumper and pit maneuvers me into the kitty litter. What is it with these jerk-offs? What ever penalty he got wasnt enough because he finished ahead of me, sport mode is becoming a joke.

I wanted to do Race C. In pre-qualifying I couldn't put a lap together to save my life. I gave up since I would only get more frustrated, so I tried pre-qualifying Race A. I normally avoid Race A, since the cars are slow and as such, actually require some skill to get them to work. I believe the technical description of my driving is "more arse than class", so I was pretty sure this wasn't going to end well . I qualified P10... only because P11/12 didn't qualify. As predicted, the lineup was DR/B and C with a few Ds thrown in.

The flag drops, and we're away at a frightful tear. I had no special magical unicorn technique for the start, just stand on the loud pedal bouncing off the limiter till they let the cars go. I started to pass people, which was surreal. Then people started to pick up the pace and I had to move out the way or get moved. I saw a few red flashes up ahead and the odd car that thought this was a rally stage . One car discovered that perpendicular to the track was not the fastest way around it . While all this was happening, I was quietly puttering around, and catching up at times. I'm pretty sure at some point I was passed by a guy on a Victa ride on :dopey:.

I'm heading up the start/finish strait when this madman comes screaming up behind me. I politely move over so he doesn't have to swerve around me, and he flies on by. I don't know if he snuck in Lupin III's Abarth, scrubbed the plasma injectors or was using The Force, but I didn't think these things moved that fast . Well, the next guy in front of him didn't move. Have you every seen one of those fireworks with the three small cylinders wrapped together and a rubber pivot point on the bottom? Spins around then flies up in the air?(most should be familiar, since every civilised country except Australia still has fire works). Yep, he did a very convincing impression of one of those :odd:. I think he landed somewhere on Yamagiwa:scared:.

And the ending to this Sunday drive?

Yeh, I'm just as surprised as most of you . Still think GTS was being a bit optimistic with the door number :sly:.

SR the same, DR up a few hundred more. Another day vacationing in DR/C :D.

I've always found it fast. Also good braking. Not as nimble at the 86, but plenty of grunt. Loved using it when I was the only one on the grid with one.
Very quick thru the final chicane.

.. And this just happened. Payment for the previous race taken from me. ;)

This time, a different 2nd placed Mustang held back and we both made it. However, one of the 50 Huracans caught him. I wound up setting a 1:57.9 on my final lap. Faster than my qualy time by 0.6 seconds. My birthday was last month. :sly:

Edit: Thank you @iFuriousRacer
This was, ironically, the inspiration. Instead of a Ford Falcon that ran the same sponsor.

Love the liveries! How do I get them? :D

I definitely felt the pain and I love Maggie. I got greedy. I was always losing time on that hairpin and was trying for more. Good race by you Baron.

You had the pace for sure...I just got lucky!!! Thanks for the race, and I hope we meet again! Good clean racing fun is what I look for!!!

Cheers

I qualified for Race B and was thinking "I broke 2min, I'm doing pretty good!" Yanno, I really should stop looking at the list to see where I stand :odd:.

05RX8 - 326.... me... 651 .
Oh snap.
Maybe @Famine or another mod could edit it for us. Would make it easier to find.
Yay.

Hope this works from my mobile.

Just noticed this has Ray's wheels. Later on today, I'll see which liveries are public.

Love gr2 at Suzuka, it flows so well.
Started 5th, finished 2nd, had to avoid getting close to P2 that was zigzagging around whenever I got close. Finally he makes mistake and ghosts after 3 laps of slowing me down so I could go through him still doing his best to zigzag lol

No chance for P1 after that, just cruised to the end.
Got launched promptly from sr C near reset line to A.
Not gonna test more luck tonight:D

@05XR8 Got it! Thanks :)

Race B. Kids off from school from the summer racing in the mornings -- You give them space and race them clean and they still bump you into the sand or over the curbs to bring on a penalty. I should know better. I always start mid-pack or back, but at least at night you are up against real drivers and can have a good race. Any penalties are for my own mistakes then -- not someone else's.

I never thought of that. I usually race between 230pm and 8pm. Past 8pm, I'm just now thinking, that's why I see a different group of players.

I haven't even factored kids getting out of school from 2-5pm, into the equation.

I hope this will continue until A+... I don't want to experiment DR resets with this account lol.
I hear ya there, had both of my accounts at a+, now one got reset and I don't really like racing with either now even though I can get the other one back up there. It is very frustrating

"I will never win this race", I said...

With persistence you shall succeed, you shall prevail!

After getting Pole Position three times in a row and then getting punted off in the beginning of the race every single time, I finally managed to get a victory. A player used me as a wall on the second half-bend and surprisingly did not get a penalty for doing so, but I persevered on. Immediately afterwards, on the final corner, I made the decision to back away from the road becoming three-wide, and I was glad that I did, because the two players in front of me immediately collided and took themselves off the course! Then on Lap 4 of 8, I keep my composure and drive persistently, the leader made a mistake coming out of the second half-bend, and I capitalized on it and kept the lead for the entire race ahead by two seconds.

The Fiat 500 is a beginner's trap, I tell you. If you don't know how to handle the car, you'll find yourself over-steering your way to defeat! The numerous characteristics of the small vehicle make it quite a challenge to drive, especially with its BoP Road Course tuning settings (used with this Daily Race). If anything, persistence and smooth inputs with the steering and throttle on steep corners are important when racing the little Fiat. Rear-engine Rear-drive cars certainly have unique handling quirks, and you combine that with the small little chassis that the Fiat has, tuned for speed, it becomes a feisty rat rather than a nimble mouse to drive.

Well I totally disagree. Disconnecting before the race start most of the times would mean you dont like the grid, because there are slower* people faster than you. This is not fair and would cause halve of the field to disconnect before the race. Totally unacceptable when you want full starting fields and also unfair towards the slower drivers who outclassed the faster drivers with a better qualifying time.

*With slower I mean for example a DR B driver being faster than a DR A/A+ driver.
Often I suspect A+ drivers deliberately tank their DR SR to get more wins.

That's highly inefficient considering races are 15-20 minutes apart. It would take like an hour to drop a rank, and then after winning a race or 2, you'd have to do it all over again.

i'm pretty sure an A+ alien would get more wins playing legitimately.

I did a couple Monza races without qualifying. My first one I kinda screwed up, started too early, my kids were still too active. The other 4 were all clean, climbing up the grid without penalties. I still got hit a few times but the DR.B shield protected me. It's much more relaxing to start in the back for T1! Much easier to stay out of the pinball zones.

I also did one Suzuka race, started last again, fast room in which I also had door number 20. I made it up to 12th mostly from people crashing. Perhaps I'll do a few more later if I'm still awake. First a bit of Detroit become human. So much to play, so little time. I 'wasted' my time catching up with The Expanse, watch it, it's great!

Another day as B/S driver, not missing A/S yet. I still see the same people anyway, all familiar faces in the Suzuka race.

In the few dailies I've done recently, the A+ aliens aren't even showing up at all. As an A+ human, I could feasibily rack up tons of wins and max out my DR but that's not much fun at all. I need more practice being in the midpack admist an alien swarm but I may need to do that with an alternate European account.

I saw a player that was(I guess still is?) #1 in ASIA, but not so fast in the race. I'm sure there is a factor of drafting, but I was quicker, down the pack, during the race.

On a similar note, I notice when I'm leading, the car feels better than when I'm not leading. It's like the car's brakev and tyres are effected by the car ahead. Even when I'm having a good run, the car just feels off compared to when I lead.

I'm also not talking about driving to the car ahead. As in, following their braking or going wide when they go wide. It's really as if my car is effecting by heat and aero wash/dirty air. I have no data, but it just feels like that.
