I was very happy Group Races are back for the N classes until i saw how they set it up .... like what on earth ? My dituned GT40 i use to earn money at blue moon bay can enter, this the exact same mistake they did before that "forced" the one makes to begin with & ok the GT40 is a road car but what about the SF-R Racing concept? in the race i entered i used a WRX starting 11th with 7 SF-R's & 1 GT40! i can't complain about the X-Bow's cause they are in N300 to begin with but the only car i could compete against was 1 R34 skyline . I finished 11th with the skyline just in front of me
27 second behind the winner
9 seconds per lap slower! & the game thought it was a bad result & it was kind of , Now i don't consider my self a fast driver & i coulden't go as fast cause the remaining SF-R's & X-Bow behind were attacking all the time but what did the game expect when they allow a little race car with GR.4 if not higher levels of performance ? the fact i kept 5 of those behind me should be considered good imo. So in short
The cars eligibility for this races should be based on the class they are categorized originally on the delership & not be effected be the tuning the player does in thair garage & the SF-R should be banned . To end my comment i want to answer to @bmxmitch no mate it was & still is PD's fault for allowing the community to do this after all thats human nature.

Just finished my 100th race with my US account, also managed to get the 15 clean races in a row. And I'm quietly climbing to A+ :)

You're right, people will always exploit every single thing they can. And PDs job is to prevent such things....but they somehow cant, or dont want to, idk :indiff:

I tried a bunch of different cars both N300 and tuned up or tuned down others and I just couldn't get any closer than 8s from my time with the KTM. :(

I thought the S-FR Racing Concept was an N400 car, though. Maybe that's in its stock form, and through BoP, it ends up in N300?

Gardens is the only track in GT Sport where I fail to be competitive. I do like the track I'm just not fast. This is also the case for Seaside (because of that horrible chicane).

Weird, Gardens is one of the only places I am competitive.

Seaside is a brilliant track butchered by that stupid chicane.

For the people who would like to see it, here is my lap from yesterday's Daily Race C ;)

What a weird lap. You are surprisingly jerky, get a good deal of wheelspin etc but the stop watch doesn't lie!

Why do so many people dislike Dragon Trail Gardens? I love that track, it flows nicely.

I am a fan, just that first chicane causes a lot of crashes and the lap times are dependent on getting it right there or else you lose a solid second, sometime smore.

First race for the night, match the Hatch. I did some pre-qualifying in the NSX, and kinda thought it was ok I guess. I'm still collating the data from screen shots of previous races, but the one race I had Gr4 data on was with the M4. Beat that time by 5s. Was still surprised to get P2 . The grid was all DR/C and a mix of cars. Only a few Meganes.

The race starts and I'm hangin like glue to P1 and a couple of times I thought there was an opportunity for a pass but not quite. On the second lap I went wide on the entry for T3 (the first left hander), caught my back right tyre on the grass in the braking zone, and spun out . I was gutted. Passed by 4 cars but kept going. On the next lap I made another unforced error on T4 and ended up on the grass 🤬. More cars go past and I'm mortified. Wish I could hide under a rock, but I press on to the finish and cross P8 with no penalties. I was annoyed with myself a) for making those mistakes, and b) because I *really* wanted to post a pic of the car with a podium finish sporting my racing number :p. Stupidly I went again because I felt i could do better. I'm an idiot :dunce:.

This.

Not a fan of brands for actual racing, there's only one line through all the corners and you are constantly turning. Get a tiny bit of wheel on the grass and it's all over. I find Oulton park a far better english style track for racing.

I love the daily N race. Tried a bunch of different vehicles. The most fun I had was racing in the Raptor. It's remarkably stable with it's 4 wheel drive, and no tcs. Going off the asphalt doesn't seem to bother it much. I actually got a 5th place finish with it. Everyone else in the tiny cars seemed afraid to come near it, as it's twice the size. Lots of fun! Give it a try. 👍

I don't think there's anything wrong with Brands. It's got some technical stuff as well as fast sections. Whilst not the fastest line, there is more than one line through most of the corners, as I found out every time someone dove up the inside of me, then came to a screeching halt and cornered much more slowly than I would have if I didn't have the interference. They are slower but because they took the fast in slow out approach they got the place. As for the grass, my spin was no fault of the track, it was all on me.

So, two races for me. First up was Race B. Since I had a qualifying time with the X-Bow that was so much faster than anything else i threw at the track, I went with that for fear of getting mugged by X-Bows and knocked off the track in the first few turns. Turns out there was only 3 X-Bows in my race. Pole was a GTR. DR/C/D races in Asia seem to go that way. People just run whatever. P5 for me.

The race starts and I went flying past three of the cars in front up to 2nd. P1, the X-Bow that started P3 was holding me up, I was expecting him to be much faster. While I was busy throttling back to avoid a collision, P3 caught up and knocked me into the sand. He obviously wasn't interested in avoiding a collision . I managed to get back on track and caught up to the guys in front, made my way past a few cars and got stuck behind an RX-7 who kept blocking me. Eventually he went too wide on the exit and through I cruised and that was the last I saw of him, he stayed 4s or so behind me after that. Made one more pass before the final chicane and crossed P6.

DR went up a bit, SR only went up 1.

Race C was a total disaster right from the beginning. I had done some qualifying laps earlier, just to get a feel with the NSX. When I came back I entered with out enough time left to put in some proper qualifying laps. P13 was my punishment.

The race gets underway and I'm seeing I have better speed on T1 that the two people in front, but they are blocking my line so again I throttle back. All this not hitting the cars in front gets me smashed from behind into another car on T4. Big orange SR for me and a 6s penalty. Down the grid I tumble and don't make much progress, almost like the handling degraded from the impact :odd:. The next lap I get rammed again, this time into the orange sausage. The NSX does a pretty good impression of the sheriff's car trying to follow the General Lee over a jump. Jammed into a wall and the game puts me into reverse.

Down to last place by the time I got going again. I gain a place and hold P19 till I pitted on lap 9. No tyres, just fuel. I lost time between pitting and less than great tyres, get passed on the last corner and finish dead last. (I really wish they had the crying smiley here).

SR went up 2 more points to 98. DR down by 1.4k. One more bad finish and my trip to DR/C is done... again.

Trying meta-car-no-pitstop 3 time:
Race 1: Messed up race itself utter bad from 1-5 just an another wreckfest
Race 2 : Have a good pace (finally!) but in lap 9/10 get a hit by stupid driver who takedown 2 cars included me, so from 9 to 12
Race 3 : Have a more back off pace, doing good but messed in 2 last lap cause to slow catching other who goes to pitlane :dunce:

verdict: Still avoid any Daily Race C with GR.4 in mix or back to use Evo or WRX in track :indiff:

Weird, Gardens is one of the only places I am competitive.

Seaside is a brilliant track butchered by that stupid chicane.

Just the opposite for me. I haven't raced Gardens much because it doesn't have the flow that Seaside has. I'm sure with more practice it might grow on me. But I feel Seaside is a brilliant track because of the chicane. It's like a Joker card, nail it right and you gain a ton of time or miss by a bit and clip the wall. It's one of my favorite tracks and I love racing there. I hope the next N class race is on Seaside, that would be interesting.

Speaking of the N class race. Disallow the detuning of the SF-R and take out the X-BOW with it's obvious advantage in that class and I think you would see a nice mix of cars in that race. But like lemmings we tend to flock to the meta. :indiff:

Everything would be fine just the way it is if it didn't take PD so long to update the BoP tables.
So having fictional machines that have in most cases op advantages & old machines that have very little change against the new one's is ok with you..

You're asking me if I'm ok with the Megane Trophy being in Gr.4 so long as it's BoP is corrected? Why yes, absolutely. Why wouldn't I be? IMO, it looks like it belongs in in Gr.4 more than the Beetle does in Gr.3, or ANY vgt, in any class, for that matter.

Ultimately, I view more car classes as a bad thing. The more groups there are, directly translates to less time those groups are represented in Sport Mode. There's a Gr.1 race like, once a week? Imagine if Group C became its own class. Once a month I would be able to use them, at most. That is silly, frankly.

It's a compromise, but a necessary one...

I disagree but hey its your view .

this car dosen't belong in GR.3 in fact it dosen't belong in any of the current groups.
Except it raced in the GT4 class at the N24.

Makes more sense to complain about GTE in Gr.3, and Group C in Gr.1 than it does to complain about the Megane Trophy in Gr.4.

I don't know if this thread is the proper one for this post I am about to make, and if it isn't, I'd like to request it to be moved to a more proper thread:

I'm trying to figure out the magic behind the matchmaking for Daily Races. Currently at DR C and SR S. Lately I'm getting placed into races where the race itself is uninteresting. No battles for a position, I stay at the position I qualified for (no gains or drops), the lead pack of drivers who qualified ahead of me stay far away from me and the rest of the pack and are often using a car that is unbalanced for the class (Megane Trophy for Gr.4 and the X-Bow for N300, for example). The races essentially become a time trial with other cars on the track, with the cars ahead of me always gaining, and the cars behind me falling behind and never catching up...

Recently I have been reading several of @Sven Jurgens posts about both the penalty and the matchmaking system. If I've been interpreting some of the information right, SR is what's primarily used for matchmaking? SR A or SR B is what could give me the most interesting competition? I try to race as fast as I can but also as clean as I can, but often times, it ends up ruining the race for me because I have to be very cautious to drive a safe and clean race just to keep my SR up, which can either slow me down, or cause complications with other drivers who are battling behind me. Decreases in SR either happen by penalties (something I would never intentionally do just to drop a rating) or quitting during the middle of a race, as far as I know.

If anyone else has done more research on the matchmaking system, I'd be very curious to know how it works and how it matches other players, because if I have to purposefully decrease my SR just to get matched with more closer competition, then I don't know what I'd have to say about that...

On the subject of the thread, I had a race today at Race B, N300 at Suzuka, with a nigh impossible recovery. A player behind me punted me off right on Turn 1, yet I somehow managed to make a recovery and stay in the race. Heartbeat increased like hell! I'll try to get a clip posted of that moment if I can tomorrow.
