Just won my first ever Race C, today at the big Tokyo Expressway track. In a Group 3 GT-R.

I only pitted once while the other leaders went in twice.

I was in second at the end of lap 8 while the leader pitted. I had a lead of about 5.5 seconds. I spent the next two laps desperately flicking the fuel map up and down (not having a clue what I was doing, really) trying to keep enough fuel to finish. I ended up winning the race with 0.0 fuel left with a lead of about 1.6 seconds. I was a wreck for the last few laps, not helped by trying to make sure I could finish. The guy in second was in a Peugeot VGT too so I knew I needed some sort of lead at the end or he'd slipstream and catch me on the straight. I got enough drive out of the hairpin at the end to manage it.

Then the timing screen comes up and I discovered he had 15 seconds of penalties. Whoops. And I managed to forget to save the replay (seriously that button should be in a more prominent place, or I should play the game more and remember it, one of the two)

@supervento and @TheGeologist.

There's many ways you can compare skill. SuperVento you can't hold onto your position!

Dropping an average of 3 places per race, that's not good racing!

Mine is -1.63 yet that's influenced by racing without qualifying for a lot of races. Although whatever I do doesn't have much effect anymore after 3600 races!

I don't mind you creating your own fun, I do mind PD letting you back into SR.S so easily. This is a clear case where the SR system fails at separating the clean and careful from the reckless.

I've had 3 DR resets as well, all clearly documented in this thread, 2 from bump drafting on Bluemoon and the last a non qualifying 20+ race marathon on a Saturday Sarthe sprint run. Just normal racing clean won't get you reset. Definitely not 20+ times. Each time I saw it coming from a long way away and could have changed course at any time. Yet climbing back up to DR.A without qualifying once was pretty fun.

And you know what, a win at 99 SR.S in a DR.A room feels >>>>>>>>> better than a 3 star victory running out in front in a B/B to D/B room.

lol, and the guy only doing daily races where qualifying is so much easier compared to fia events, that explains all the pole positions.

Bravo DR SR drivers
my B S
I see that it is not right for you to have a 321 victory
Only evil people can write so much about one person
Let you be happy in racing, and I'll ride like Kimi and Vettel
you are free to follow the table every day
I see you can not sleep if you lose A+ S

Obviously you've won more races, poles and top 5s than me. I don't artificially lower my Dr/Sr scores to race against slower people... When I'm fast, I get matched with very skilled drivers who are sometimes in the top 10 in the US, so I don't win as frequently as you...

Lies, damn lies and statistics?

Speak for yourself mate! :p I would *love* to be out in front of DR/Bs ;).

And on to my second and last race of the night. De ja vu... I'm sure I've done this race before . Lago GP, and it's a bright sunny Italian day here at the Autodrome. What better place to plonk one of my Yank Tanks? :sly: Since I'm not doing Race C I put in some laps for my daily workout, and managed to get pretty close to a time I had in my mind with the NSX in the past. Yeh, could have gone with the Japanese cockroach, but I just felt like taking the Viper for a spin, even if I'd done better times in the past with other cars. Somehow qualified P3 .

So race starts and I do my usual habit lately of sticking to the slower but more secure inside for T1, get through, but had someone push pass me a couple of corners later. Luckily I managed to stay on the track this time. I hang in there just trying my best to put in the best laps I can manage whilst staying on the track. Then I get passed by someone who's credos is "if it won't fit, I'll make it fit!". Far too aggressive, but he managed to get away with it. He caught up to the other push passer and tried the same thing. This time he got a penalty . I caught up to the first guy to push pass me and got a better run out of the turn at the bottom of the hill. I was side by side on the inside headed for the next turn. By the time we got to the turn I was slightly ahead. The flamin drongo *still* tried to turn in on me! I got through and ahead and kept ahead. The pinball wizard who crash his way pass both of us was serving his penalty at the finish line and I blew passed him with a giggle :D. Then a sudden realisation set in:

Still kinda stunned about that.. I was more or less resigned to P4, and content with that.

So, SR still 99, DR up nearly 1k. Day 1 visiting DR/C :dopey:.

your reply became a long hyperlink lol, but congrats on the podium position! Going to try and do as many Race Bs tomorrow just to gain some lost DR

Went from p13 to P7 today in the one try today, and set a new PB in qualifying time trial later on. A top ten placement is already good enough for me for now, baby steps, baby steps:dopey:

Yeh, took me 3 edit attempts to finally fix it :O. P13 to P7 is a pretty good effort . Today's races have been a bit of a surprise, but I'm pretty happy if I can have a race where no one rams me off the track and I finish in the top half somewhere. Harder to do If you drop SR because you get mismatched with drivers 2 or 3 levels up.

Congrats mate! Were all the Peugeot VGT 2 stopping then?

One of my Daily Races in an A+ and S-drivers lobby on yesterdays Megane Trophy at Nürburgring GP. :)
I was on Poleposition at chosed the No-Stop strategy while beneli on P.2 went for 1-Stop. 👍

I firmly believe that vento is a trash driver. But on days where you both drive the same daily races, sadly he's on average 1.2s faster than you and ranked better overall in the region :( sorry @TheGeologist

Doesn't mean much to me. I don't regard myself as a very good qualifier. I always finish better than I start.

Being fast is only part of the battle. I pride myself of racecraft, sportsmanship, not making mistakes and finishing better than I started.

Besides this wasn't an argument of who who is better. I don't doubt that Vento is a fast racer. But I do take offense to a dirty driver gloating about their wins. The Sr history says it all.

With respect to the AUP of GTP, I will no longer be commenting on this issue or arguing with this person as it we will not see eye to eye and it does nothing but drag us off topic.

Man that second spaniard really burnt you in the first half of the race.

TBH your pace on the final three laps on used rubber and low fuel is ridiculous. 2.05's? Really? That's crazy.

Enough.

Any evidence is hearsay and circumstantial. Until someone can provide actual video evidence of @supervento being a dirty driver, this conversation is over.

Does anyone know what's the best car to counter the Peugeot VGT on Tokyo today ?
AMG GT. Quick in the corners where it counts. Good on fuel. I stopped, but if you can avoid a penalty, I believe you can beat it fair and square.

Congrats mate! Were all the Peugeot VGT 2 stopping then?
I don't even remember, but I don't think so. The one who finished second was the only one who pitted again within the last few laps, I'm not sure how many more Peugeots were behind the two of us.

I did a couple KTM Big Willow races in the afternoon. Nothing spectacular, kinda boring actually since I qualified and pretty much stuck to my starting position. I dropped a few places, got them back, got bored, forgot a turn, that kinda stuff. Too slow for me.

So I switched to Tokyo for tonight. Fast and the furious. My best results

I started without qualifying, practice on the ground. My est without quali was 6th place, dodging the mess in the backfield. It did earn me a 10 sec penalty once for being too close to an accident, so after a few I set a time. However going 13 positions up was actually more fun than starting 3rd and finishing 3rd. There was a bit more action than it sounds as starting 3rd meant into the frying pan in T1. 3rd to 6th and back to 3rd was the pattern more or less.

I drive AT and got bored of driving in map 2 and 3 all the time with the Peugeot so I switched to the GT-R. Better on fuel, can't catch the short shifting alien up front though. Then the Ferrari, about the same fuel economy, can't catch the alien either that can do 6 laps in the Peugeot while increasing the gap ahead. The Ferrari was the most fun to drive and the races in the GT-R and Ferrari all had fun clean close competition. There were still the usual Tokyo 'accidents' yet perhaps fewer penalties for contact isn't a bad idea when the wall penalties already take care of the reckless drivers.

Anyway a lot of fun strategic racing, lot of drafting and not a single dirty blocker. Great night. DR increased by 6.6K despite a disconnect and a room that only had 10 people, back in DR.A at 36K, SR never wavered. Cleanest Tokyo experience yet.

Did the last 4 races at Autodrome Lago Maggiore before the new daily races came in to regain some lost DR. The last two races were of most notable, especially the last one.

On the second last one, the system put me in P4, never have I been placed so high in a race. It was refreshing to have such calm, but it was also kind of unnerving as I'm mostly placed in the mid pack. Having set a 2:08.7 PB - later on 2:08.4 has sent me within the top 10 for all match ups.

The last race, oh my gosh. I will not deny I did not drive my cleanest. But at the same time I was not impeding anyone to what I can see. Started in P6, a Japanese player in P5 moved away as an evasive manoeuvre, I just went along the outside of turn 1 shortly after that. Then, as I need to check the replay on this, Warpath360 comes up in a Lancer Gr.4. When following behind him, I can sense that his exits were not very stable and I was about .5 seconds or so of a gap behind him. I caught up to him and then was side by side before the banked chicane. We were going through the corners together side by side, and in the right hander before the long straight to the banked chicane, I managed to hold my position going flat out, although was not able to prevent the light understeer towards the left.

I will clarify here right now, in case he reads this, if I was in your position I would've let go of the gas a bit, as I can sense with the radar that the car is coming towards me, to prevent colliding into the left wall so that I don't lose as much pace. Or, I can also let go of the gas and let you pass first, which I did not and maybe should've.
However, what happened afterwards was not cool. He started flashing me, which I took note as "you leaned into me causing me to crash, you should give that place back." Ok, sure, I'll give it back to you. And I'll do my best to pass you back cleanly, since from my point of view, it seemed that you were fast, but not so fast that I wouldn't catch you.

But ultimately, over driving and over compensating lead me to gain a 10 second penalty later in the race and finishing the race at P10.

All I can say is, yes, I will take my actions into account, and you probably felt that me getting a penalty - a 10 second one nonetheless is worth it for causing you to crash into the left hand wall, dropping from P6 to a P10 finish. But it is not right to think that based on your own driving skill set, you may or may not be deserved of getting the position you got. If you were a competent D/S driver, with a qualifying time of 2:10 or less, you wouldn't have needed to resort to headlight flashing. I refrain from doing that, as it's pointless.

Sorry, this became an indirect rant :guilty:

Anyway, just glad to get some DR points back in my hands.:boggled::banghead:
