Well no matter how hard the fall I always seem to recover.

After my moan last night I had six good Race A's with the Ferrari 250 GTO finishing in top 3 spots in each race (2nd mostly) so SR is back
to 64 points and DR 7393 points.

This roller coaster is proving most frustrating as always seem to have bad luck after starting to improve again, I would have had a good
race C yesterday had I not experienced the ram race up the long straight and the other cars "convientiality" driving off track so I got
the penalty, that's the part of the current system that frustrates me the most.

However there is hopefully a light for Race C as looks like Aston Martin Vantage may be my gold star to get a better qualifying time.

Right I give up, how do you do the chicane at Dragon Trail without slowing down?
I honestly have no idea. I can nail it with some cars almost every time but I tried 50+ times with the Veyron since Monday and I only nailed it once.

It is okay to do it with slowing down
I usually go for a lift roger he front turned and try and get as close to the left hand wall so I have less chance of hitting on the right like most do get on the power early also consistent Im yet to crash there with 7 or 8 goes at this race all from varying starting and finishing positions

I can do it with a slight lift, that's fine. But I have a hit rate of about 1 in 50 too, or it feels like that. Then I inevitably start over thinking it and end up braking, which is a disaster.

The lowered penalty standards are a mess. I almost feel like I'm doing a clean race in GTA 5 every time I play now. Which puts me in a tough spot since now I have to drive way more defensively just to stay on the track.

Race B seemed to be the dirtiest, the large esses on Dragon Trail seem to be a massive penalty mess as people refuse to concede their apex and constantly chop and crowd on you after they were already sliding wide. I got unstable on a curve there and my car popped out of the curbing and I accidently rammed a guy trying to cut back to crowd my apex from the outside. I totally understand his frustration but he then proceeded to passively push me wide and off of the track at the top of the hill before the hairpin with no penalty. Just constant nudging off of the track as people just throw their nose to the inside and wedge you out. The bus stop chicane is still a leap of faith, where you lift off and power through hoping that everyone in the way ghosts out properly, but that second curb on the exit is constantly throwing two of my wheels in the air and messing up my line.

Brand's Hatch was a lot better but I think it was just due to people being more focused on staying on the track and not wanting to drag a tire in the grass during a shoving match. The track is all wrong for the default gearing of the 2000 GT having you change gears mid incline on Surtees and just killing speed on the straight, but the weird gearing ratio created a lot of speed variation out of the turns, keeping Race A less stagnant than usual with lots of position changes. The ugly penalty system would still rear its head as I had to constantly deal with people running wide off track full throttle, trying to pass me in the grass and then ramming me to come back on and granting me the penalty. This happened most frequently on Cooper's straight when people would want to randomly go rally racing high up on the kerbing. Just total lunacy when people are driving like idiots.

I usually race from the middle of the pack so I rarely get an open lead to try and hit the chicane full throttle during a race. So my inability to do it rarely effects my lap time. I usually end up having to lift off of the throttle just as I reach the rumble strip on the right side wall, this will typically put me right on someones bumper to draft and pass on the exit. Or someone hits a wall and we all die.

I try as hard as I can to prescribe a constant arc through the bus stop, if that makes sense. The Huracan, Ferrari, Porsche, and VW it works well. The Veyron can be hit and miss. Have to be inch perfect in the Veyron.

I use motion sense and try and keep the same left lock on from entry as I brush the rumble strip through it and aim just at the left wall, the speed you carry means when you arrive at the left wall you miss it, smooth right lock and get a good exit. It's quite tricky.

I've driven through it slowly on a few occasions and theres surprisingly more room than it looks like when your flat out. It's harder when following another car however.

For the Bus Stop keeping the power on seems the best bet if you brake you start sliding, a slight lift is ok but full lift can also start the car sliding. Its all about being smooth and practicing makes it become easier, I also try and aim for the crane in the distance as I turn into the last left before the exit.

Using the curb on the right helps your car rotate through the really narrow part. Pre 1.23 I could do it flat out in the Lambo during qualy, not sure about now though.

Just got my first win on Bathurst for this week! Took the Jaguar instead of the Vantage this time. Although I am almost half a second slower in the Jaguar in qualifying, I can put more consistent laps together in the race than with the Vantage.
Started 3rd, 1st place took himself out on the first wall. Up to second place, 3rd place behind me in the Beetle was super aggressive. Let him pass on the first lap, cause a) I knew he would take me out sooner or later if I stayed in front of him, and b) was hoping he would take out the Lexus in first place instead .
Unsurprisingly thats exactly what happend, he took out the Lexus going into The Chase, which made me first place and was able to take i safely home.

One thing that irritates me is that I am an incredible bad front runner. I often can follow faster drivers, pulling lap times I usually wouldnt be able to do. But as soon as I am in front with a seizable lead, I seem to forget all my breaking points, and generally mess up in places where its totally unnecessary :banghead:.

Stay on the throttle haha. Lots of people even as high as A+ do a tiny safety lift during a race, costing them maybe half a tenth at most. Personally I'm happy to stay on the throttle until the tires are worn which I do by gradually starting the left turn as soon as I've finished turning right and apply full turning once the car touches the outside kerb. The car, no matter what car you use, is more stable this way because the steering is gradual and the weight isn't shifting so quickly

Currently in P15 for Race C with a 2:02.211. Optimal sits at 2:01.7, my PB at this track is a 2:01.8. Really want to get in the 2:01's this week, had a few laps where it was looking really good untill i messed it up coming down the mountain. :banghead:

Go, tell it on the Mountain, Set my horsepower free..... Yes folks, once again it's all the drama of Mount Panorama, and drama it was!

I tried a few cars and it was a toss up between the love bug and the Viper. I went with the Dodge, because I figured that was what I was gonna have to be doing! My qualifying time was pretty laughable, so starting P11/19 on a mixed grid of DR/B and C was better than I expected. I had a bad feeling about this :nervous:.

The flag drops, auto drive dumps me mid Murray's, but I was ready for it. The guy in front wasn't and off into the wall he goes . T1 was surprisingly civil, with no one ramming me and all the cars in front getting through with no apparent collisions. Got through Griffins ok but there was drama all the way from The Chase to Conrod. Somehow I made it through with no penalties. I managed to keep this up to my pit at the end of lap 5, despite being rammed a few times :scared:.

I pitted P5 and came out P7. I wasn't entirely comfortable the whole race with the Viper, but that's what I run so I just had to make do. So far I hadn't had any penalties, then it all went a bit pear shaped. I'd been swapping positions with a guy in a Supra for a couple of laps. Heading in towards Murry's he's next to me on the outside. I back off so I can take the turn tight against the curb to give him room on the outside. No contact that I could tell, but he went off and I get my first penalty and an orange SR :( . Not long after a guy in a green Lambo was swerving all over the place, and I just couldn't brake in time to deal with his erratic movements. I think he was fighting tyre wear, not trying to block me. BANG! and another orange SR and time penalty. I had a number of other minor contacts and crossed P6 but 3s of penalties dropped that to P8.

SR took more of a hit than I was expecting, from 99 to 84. Next race I do is bound to be poorly matched. Scumbags!!!! They're all scumbags!!!! Oh yeh, DR up a bit. Another day vacationing in sunny DR/C :odd:.

Great effort mate! I'm on 2.02.8xx at the mo and struggling to see where I can shave any more time. This may be in the minority but I much prefer a weekly schedule as I can really get my teeth stuck into a combo! Hadn't really raced Bathurst much in the past so it's been good to learn!

So is it me or is the shifter kart impossible to drive with a steering wheel? I move the wheel a fraction of an inch and wheeeeee! Kills me that there is no steering wheel sensitivity control in this game.

I like the weekly's to i dont often play daily anyway.

Did another short session this afternoon in wich i did a 2:02.170 and a 2:02.153. Small improvements but getting closer :)

Can you let me know your sectors? Would be interested to see if it is a particular section which I need to improve. God knows how AUGH set that time for the top spot lol

After doing a 2.4hr le man's race on PC2, I have no reason not to do well! The track is etched into my memory :D looking forward to it!

I count 20?

That's not that many. I guess I need to delete a bunch of doubles again from the daily gifts. I wonder if the new tire model will change the meta. No doubt the hybrids will still leave the classics in the dust. Perhaps it will even be a bigger difference now.

With the Atenza, I do it in 5th gear. At the entry, full throttle, right at the apex of the first left hand curb, I lightly lift and feather the throttle, just after the apex of the second left hand curb, I'm turning right with full throttle.

Should be fun using my Bugatti Gr.1 and TS050 for the La Sarthe race next week. I'm hoping there will be more variety to Gr. 1 in terms of track selection in the future.

I just left foot brake the chicane a bit without leaving 5th gear, but not too much because you don't want to dip the revs too low. Works every time with the Veyron.

Just had a Daily Race B, 4 laps at Dragon Trail Seaside. Countdown ends but Autodrive stays on...and on...and on. I only qualified 12th and because (long story) my SR tanked from 99 to 26 this week the aim was only to stay out of trouble. 1 lap of Autodrive later other players are getting fed up and logging off. I’m now 8th and sitting primed to go. After chicane for 2nd time the game just starts. Those still in are asleep and I find myself in 3rd. Doing my best to avoid a tip and through spins and overtakes I finish up 9 places and a clean race in 3rd.

Sorry to those who lost out but delighted to be on the lucky...and to be fair patient...side this time.

I could do it no problem early yesterday afternoon when I was fresh. Last night I had to lift off or hit the wall. Answer = Concentrate. When I’m tired and not 100% in game character I can’t do it flat out...that and on the last lap if I’m doing well...then my driving goes poop!
