After yesterday's fiasco I decided to race again tonight to get back some SR. Being down to 84 and the dodgy match ups that come with it just didn't sit well with me. So... of to chase me a Dragon :D. Decided to go with the NSX. I couldn't manage any better time than my current qualy, which landed me P15 in a mixed grid of DR/B and C. Mostly B.

So... Riders ready? Pedal....Set!!!! And off we tear down the start slope headlong towards the first berm!!! Oh wait.. sorry.. senility yanno, re-liveing past glories. Ok autodrive abandons us to our fate and it's a dash for crash towards the chicane. I got wedged between cars but somehow avoided any penalties. I spent most of the race studiously attempting to avoid contact, for the most part successfully, yet somehow there are drivers who seem determined to put their car in harms way :dunce:. I cut one of the corners far too generously and was waiting for the penalty. I just wish they would give out the penalty then and not wait many seconds! :irked: I crossed P12. The door number was optimistically #5. Not a great placing, but I was still happy with the 3 places higher.

DR down about 300. SR up 4. Bolstered by this I figured "Again! Again!". Not a good idea.

This time with the M4. I know it's down on power, but I just felt like driving it. Started P13 on a mixed grid of DR/B and C with a few outliers either way.

Off we go! T1 was a 🤬 fight and I managed to get pushed into another car, which brought up a penalty and an orange SR. On the first lap every corner was a trial by fire. I think I got mangled by every super car in the collection. I ran my race feeling bruised and battered, crossing P12.

Dr down another 300, SR down to 75 . Really not happy leaving it there, i thought I'd give the Mountain a crack with the rexy. Bad move. :dunce:

Last nights qualifying saw me start P10 on a grid with a lot of DR/A and B, a couple of Cs and a hand full of Ds.

Just like last night, auto dumps me in the middle of Murry's and off we go. Hell's corner lived up to it's name, it was pandemonium at T1 :scared:. I got through and headed up to Griffins. The rexy was chugging along like a champ and I caught up to the crowd at Griffins. I braked to avoid running up the back of anyone, since the pack had concertinad, and was rammed off the track and into the wall on the outside, then pinballed to the inside, and GTS decided to shove me into reverse when I wanted to go forward. By the time I got going again I was in last place by a long way. :banghead: See @Sven Jurgens , not only did I start at the back, I even gave them a head start!

So away I go clawing my way up the mountain. The rexy was pretty surprising across the top of the mountain, so I made up a lot of ground. I slowly closed in on the back runners. I passed various wrecks and was keeping things on the track when I came across a car across the top of the mountain just before Skyline parked sideways across the track. It unghosted just as I hit it . Kinda also messed up my rhythm down to Forrest Elbow. From then on it was all a bit of a train wreck. I was making up positions, but some of the cars were behaving eraticaly. I had a green lambo with lag keep jumping around. I'd pass it, then suddenly it was in front of my bumper. Eventually it beamed itself into a wall.

I pitted on the end of lap 5. The tyres felt ok, but the recommended gears on most corners had dropped and the tyre wear indicator showed they were pretty ragged, so on with new boots. Came out a couple of positions behind.

I caught up and passed the two who passed me while I pitted. I guess one of them didn't like that, because I got better speed out of The Chase and was side by side on the inside headed into Murrays. I slowed down a bit to allow the guy next to me to make it round, just like last night, when I was rammed from behind and up popped an orange SR. The second for the race. In the end I clawed my way from P17 to P9.

This race was a disaster for my SR. Down to 72. Regained most of the DR I lost from DTS. Another day visiting DR/C :odd:.

After a bad race last night I dropped my SR down out of the 90-99 bracket. I encountered @Sven Jurgens there attempting his start at the back races.

I have to say that when racing against SR B/ SR A racers it wasn't that big of a deal, they're dirty sure but usually too slow to prove an issue. However, when i got back into the SR S with DR A/B lobby that was in the lower 80-90 SR bracket there was lots of trouble. I got blocked on every single straight when trying to overtake. I was actually surprised, the first time it happened I thought it was an accident. Then i got 4 more in the same race. Totally scum moves but there isn't a penalty for it so the drivers keep "clean" SR S ratings. You just don't see that in the 99 SR bracket.

Annoyingly the drivers are also decently paced so passing is more difficult especially with the added blocking and they dive bomb more frequently. It made for an unpleasant 2-3 lobbies. That's the limbo Sven is stuck in sadly.

EDIT:

almost forgot I got stuck behind this guy after a pit stop. hahahaha the most brutal lag ive seen in a long time. Through the up and downhill sectors he was simultaneously wallriding the inside and outside walls hahaha.

You can skip the Supra. It's much slower than it's stats would indicate, and the worst part; it won't make it to the end of lap 5 on fuel.

I shall not skip anything! Driving both BMW Power and Walkenhorst liveries was a bit pointless though. So far the Vette had the worst fuel consumption and did not make 5 laps. Dodge Viper made 5 laps with 1% left, Ford GT LM Spec II with 2% (all driven on automatic)
Hyundai Genesis is the most fuel efficient so far and is actually not bad on Bathurst.

I love the one where you intentionally start at the back, forfeiting DR, let the other cars drive on to kill each other and then someone crashes off, resets behind you and drives through you in the rush to catch back up. DR points lost and still drop SR because you were hit from behind. Sheesh!

I am seriously starting to enjoy the SR C races though. Nearly as though I’m actually chilling out more, caring less about scores and results. If I get a tip? Well so what? Part of me feels I’m coming to accept that GT is enjoyed less as “the real driving simulator” and more as just a bit of online fun where there’s no point deluding yourself that it’s anything more...then I log back on and work my ass off again for an SR S.

I keep driving the same hence it took 7 races to get back from 80 to 99. I probably will have to go into full avoidance mode when I get a couple of very bad races in a row and drop to SR.B. Taking corners side by side in SR.B is just asking for trouble.

Yeah that blocking on the straight is annoying. I usually deal with that by going on the outside at the Chase, hug the left side and out brake them. Then they have nowhere to go but drive themselves off. You do risk getting bumped off though. Overtaking in the cutting usually works as a lot of people take that too wide, at least the ones that are so eager at blocking. Right after the dipper is a good spot to shoot by as well when the car in front has a bad entry into the esses. Actually the more I drive that track, the more it opens up to passing opportunities any where. The track is a lot wider than it seems.

Starting in the back it's mostly like this. Lap 1, avoid / pass accidents. Lap 2 to 5 over take the slower people. Lap 6 to 9 slowly catch up and battle people of near similar pace, usually as they drop back while battling the car in front of them. I usually set my best lap in lap 8 or 9 when I finally have room to drive full throttle.

I didn't mind dropping to the low SR.S rooms for a while. New people to over take. It gets kinda routine after a while if you keep passing the same people over and over again like clockwork, same lap and all. I bet they get bored of me as well :)

The whole thing is frustrating. You seem to be darned if you do and darned if you don't. The other night, I rear ended a player after he had to jam on the breaks because of a player in front of him. Totally my fault. I pulled over to give him the spot back and instead of just going by he rammed me, I resumed the race and he spent the next half a lap banging and brake checking me. I just don't get it. After the race calls me dirty.
I think the safety rating is given out way to easily and you lose to much of what you gained on the DR for having a few bad races which cant be helped with the lousy penalty system, short races which you cant recover from some of these incidents. Only racing the manufacturers anymore.

I am guessing from the lack of replies that nothing can compete with the Veyron for race B?
The GT-R was ok when I was in D/E lobbies earlier after my reset, but am back to B/B now and am getting nowhere..
Edit: used the meta for my sins, got me a 2nd place..
Went back to the GT-R again for the next one and got second again.

I had 3 people spin out in front of me and I couldn't avoid them. Also kind of cut off 1 guy a little. Managed to pick up a penalty for each hit, as well as lose a ton of time :)

Oh well time to try and work my way back up the SR rating again.

Since I haven’t touched Sport Mode in a while (and last week’s selection was awful), I’m doing a few rounds of the Gr.4 race at Dragon Trail right now.

Has it always been the case that someone can sideswipe you off on the little kink at the beginning of the straight, and even though you hold it together and make the pass, you’re the one hit with a post-race penalty?

I had messed up a run into the chicane on lap three and ruined my race. After the game decided to set me back, I ran the final cycle in the hopes of a fastest lap. I sliced over five seconds off the gap to 11th over the course of it, and seemingly not happy with that, he ran me off the road on the way to the line.
I got similar views regarding this week's race B. I was disatisfied with my qualifying, having often qualified for 8th place, much to my anger. That's where I quit the DT Seaside Gr. 4 race before I could begin. I now retracted my previouscomments regarding this race. I herefore forever denounce Gr. 4 races at DT Gardens and I hate it with all my stength!
I guess anything's better than this shoddy trash. Off to race A for me again.

Just a quick question what do you use for race B other than the Meta? Been using the GT-R a bit personally, just curious what you guys go for and what is competitive and not too tricky to negotiate through the Bus Stop.

I ran about 20 races yesterday at Seaside and didn’t use the Veyron. There were lots of them, but in the A/S lobbies I was in, there was a good variety. Fastest guy in most of them was in a Huracan, but he was usually fending off another A+ Veyron that I had a few good battles with in my Corvette. There were a couple pole sitters in Lancers too, and the GTR is also fast there. Personally I’m better with RWD so I was using the Viper at first then learned I was faster in the Vette. Had one race each with Turismo Lester and one of the FT guys, think it was McQueen, and they were both in Vipers, nobody could catch them.

Ugh... lost 1600 DR due to a disconnect...

:banghead:

Happened to me twice yesterday for a total of something like 3000 DR. Was trying to build some up before FIA and of course it backfires. It pisses me off that SR is taken too, like why?

The penalty system is too harsh right now, SR S seems a distant memory I have been back up to A once since the last updates, am usually in C or B now. Previously I could get back to SR S after a couple of good races now I seem to have no chance, to top it off just got reset. 3000 DR and 1 SR now, -13000 driver points for one bad race..
Anyone tried the Mountain in SR E?
Great now I get booted during matchmaking for race C so have 1/2 an hour to wait, really not my day.

Edit: Race C in SR E was chaos for the first few laps with a fair few idiots who clearly couldn't drive in traffic, got pushed off into the sand at the top of the hill and lost a bagful of places, of course the driver who did this only did a couple of laps and was DNF at the end. The result being, SR up from 1 point to 4 whole points, not bad I guess?
Problem with that track is that SR loss outweighs the SR gain, thus I avoid it in EU at least. In Asia I found it to be ok, I just raced it twice there tho and not in B/S. Still, no Spaniards so it must be better..

Havent had it happen to me in a while, really sucks when it does though.

Did 6 races at Bathurst today and started the day at 71.5K, got 1 win wich put me at 71.7K, then i got disconnected and put back to 70.1K, got 4 more wins and a 2nd after that now i am back at 71.7K. Its not the end of the world but i am on the hunt to hit 75K and i could haven been at least 73.3K right now. Ughh.. one day... i'll get there... i must... :p

Racing at Bathurst was good fun though. Its all about consistency and fuel management around there. P4 on the leaderboard snatched some poles off me with his qualy time of 2:01.6 but i managed to beat him every race on consistency and fuel management. Also the tires are pretty gone after 5 laps so you need to be carefull on your in lap.

Bit of a boring race... but very effective...

I did a lot of testing for B.
Viper is good but I don’t like in car view. Veyron is just ok for me. Mercy is best for me. I like the gearing and chicane in it plus the in car view.
The 86 is good also but slower in general.
Chose merc because get most consistency imo the Viper is a touch faster but I hate the sound and view.
I’m not fast though after all the practice I get mid 47 qual.

3 shocking races for me on dragons yesterday, started in the top 4 each time, bundled of the track by oversteering cars after the first few corners. In each race. Last each time. Clawed back a 9th I think and some other minor placings. I've been keeping out the way and letting others pass rather than trying anything maybe that's where I'm going wrong. Briefly back to SR A then down again, lost a ton of DR. Sigh.

Since BOP really doesn't really give each car equal chances. And I do like seeing grid variation over a one make. I think they should award a small number of car handicap points based on car popularity. To encourage faster drivers (not me) to select different cars to gain DR points.

Just had a Race B without a flying start. The game suddenly started the countdown and we were off. I feel for the guys who had to start at the back before the corner lol.

In my races at DTS, I only saw a couple of Veyrons. I'm thinking the whole META thing is reserved for higher DR levels, because so far I haven't seen any races with a predominance of one car over another.

Personally I’m better with RWD so I was using the Viper at first then learned I was faster in the Vette.

It's funny, but I'm the opposite. I want to be fast with the Covette but every time I go head to with the Viper I'm always faster with the Viper.

Started race A on Monday without qualifying, best finish was 3rd getting consistent low 1:39s with a best lap of 1:38.5xx (3 races, SR down to a 72).

Tuesday morning I started the same for one race, finished 6th, gained some SR points. Later that night I entered a race with a good 10 min of time to qualify, first lap I hit a1:37.912, but was unable to match it. Started 2nd on the grid, we ran away from the rest of the field right away, but was too scared to even try to pass. The next race I got a bad launch from PP and dropped to 6th & was able to climb back up to 3rd before it got too tough to pass, so I settled for that finish. I did two more, got dive bombed both times, one was so bad I got up to get a drink of water ended up last & the other time 5th (SR went back up to S at 81).

Yesterday I did two races (maybe 3, don’t remember) finished 3rd in one and finally got my first win of the week. My SR went up to 86 or so, but stopped because I didn’t want to risk it getting lower.

Earlier I got a personal best lap 1:37.503, didn’t get PP because I got matched up with Mark and his 1:35.8, ran my fastest race of the week & still got smoked by 6 seconds.

Went back to the GT-R again for the next one and got second again.
I posted some videos. I can certainly beat them in my Atenza.

After the fun of destroying my SR rating, I managed to get a couple of cleanish races (and 1 where I messed everything up), so managed to get my SR back up to 96 and got a couple of wins. Fastest race was a 19:15 so was quite pleased with that.

Race b today. Started second. GTR in pole. Got a jump into the slipstream and probably could have pushed it with an aggressive move into turn one but did the prudent thing on cold tires and backed off.
3rd barged into my apex in turn 1 way late and bumped me aside for the pass hen got bumped from rear.
On we go in third a little pissy about getting divenombed. Got a run on him up the hill in the Essex and had overlap midway down the downhill but discretion is the better part of valor so I held off and followed. I was all over his radar. Bumper to bumper on the first right into the high speed chicane but I stayed very conservative and laid back for the exit.
Sure enough I get cleanly by on the straight just before the braking zone on the final but I go a little deep...Luckily I’ve done that before many times and held the line for good early throttle exit in my new fave gr4!
Good pull on the straight and got away.
I was a little off since I only did one warmup lap before entering and my times weren’t enough to pressure the leader.
Made 3 seconds on the leader in lap 3 but messed up a bit deep into the hairpin lap 4 and couldn’t close in and end up applying pressure. Ah well just a little proud to be back in b with 99. My take on wheel use is that it’s easier to be clean with a wheel. Friend of mine is a big time gamer and he uses controller and he’s faster but not as consistent or safe plus he’s never got to s. He turns faster best laps than me and passes more aggressively than I do though.
I don’t attempt overlapping or avertaking in general unless I have a solid advantage and the position is there. I figure if I can’t pass clean then that’s racing. My strategy is race clean as fast as I can in control and wait to see what happens.
I am different from you Sven though in that I take the opposite approach on qualifying.
I enjoy the racing at s. If you start further ahead less probability of problems is my idea. If someone is clearly faster I won’t slow down for them or move over but I pay attention and when they make the move I don’t fight it.
I will defend if it’s a podium last lap or two or something but outside that nah. You really don’t wanna frustrate a guy whose faster for no reason.
Another point It seems harder not to hit people with controller (anyone who used both do you agree)which my friend always tells me as well when we discuss it in a lobby. I think he is going to spring for a wheel soon because of this. Hotlap to hotlap he is faster but real racing he can cause issues.
On Seaside I am dr B but not everywhere. I ain’t touching race c. I can drive Mt Pan without crashing but not ready to race there with confidence.
I am gonna practice some a race and try it.
Good luck out there!

Lack of motivation and lack of time so far this week have kept me away from my favourite track. Tonight and the next couple of days I will be fixing that with some long Bathurst hours. Also need to get my head around the new tyre model as I cant seem to find the right style to get the car on the limit for a better hotlap.

That's a great idea, sort of like a bookie system and could be fully automatic. Of course then the faster drivers would take more points from you when you drive the meta ;)

Just had a Race B without a flying start. The game suddenly started the countdown and we were off. I feel for the guys who had to start at the back before the corner lol.
Nobody else who experienced this? Or finds it even remotely interesting?

Haven't experienced any weird bugs.

Just Bugattis that throw blocks in braking zones and brake checks in corners.

I've had plenty of these races:lol:

With stuff like this, you just have to laugh it off  that last one into the pits was brutal tho haha
