I was that guy and I watched the replay and could see why you were frustrated with. I was having a frustrating race also. I started 7th in that race got bump passed once and got passed again when I rear ended someone who had hit someone else. In the replay I can see that I'm trying to use the entire track to my advantage and it may have looked like weaving to you. But Brands is all corners and I did not weave to block you on the a straight. I was trying to find a place to let you past without loosing more positions. You sliced past Sven and Onenastyguy. I could see you were faster. Then you nudged my back left corner while I was on the edge of traction and I did a 180.

Hey man, thanks for responding. Let me apologize again for making contact, it was my fault and I was trying like crazy to make up positions. I'm never sure if the guy in front of me is actually defending aggressively, or if there are just some mistakes being made. I'm sure there have been really fast guys behind me wondering the same thing before, and I may have caused them to hit me too. That one race, was probably the worst one I had there all day and getting punted on T1 doesn't really help the mood for the remainder of the race. That turn where we made contact is a really tough spot, and it looked to me like you overshot it and went too wide, but you came back to the inside real fast and I was already there...but I'll admit I wasn't in deep enough to say I had that position, so again, my fault and I apologize. Hope to see you again on the track, preferably in a cleaner race!

My tips on Nords and 997

Porsche is RR, so you have to coast and maintain a very good exit speed

Racing in Nords is waiting your opponent make some mistake and then pass

For such a long track, only few places overtake can happen

Early on, tires still cold, control is much important than speed

I know you're right but it's so much fun to just push the brake balance back to reduce the understeer and to trail brake onto the curbs like a rally driver.

Exit speeds really are the key to passing the Ring though (in my opinion) as most of my passing gets done on the straights. Pressure the lead car into a defensive line and then run your hot lap line to get a better exit and secure the pass. If some one is weave blocking like an idiot then I try to pressure them into an error with dive bomb feints and poking my car on either side of them.

Did 4 x Race C. A couple of good ones and a couple of bad ones.

Good ones involved some fairly close and clean racing. Enjoyed these.

Bad ones involved being t-boned at the first corner and spinning at the last. There was some shockingly poor driving on display over the entire 13 laps in t-bone special race.

I think that whether I experienced a good race or not came more down to luck than anything else.

The good thing is that lapping around with others really does help to learn the track even if some have taken their driving lessons from the "how to look bad" etiquette videos.

I ruined my second set of tires on Race C by spinning and going off, tried to get new rubber but kept spawning at the other end of the start straight, anyone else had this? I ended up getting disqualified as I literally couldn't drive the thing as my rears where destroyed, therefore making cornering almost impossible [for me at any rate]. Got demoted to C/B for my troubles...
Hoping I get a better run next time out.
Edit: Was fine next race tried pitting twice no issues.

I couldn't sleep last night so I decided to see what racing is like at 3:30 AM on the NA server. Would it be a little cleaner, would there be anyone on, well the answer is in this before and after shot:
KOVc.jpg

I got tapped from behind on the way to the start, -2 SR, then again on the way to Flugplatz while avoiding battling cars, -2 SR, hence the neutral rating. Only one other managed to avoid penalties and two got away with a blue rating. One dropped to SR.E. It was an experience climbing through that field.

However the next race was very different after the SR system had flushed the toilet.
LOVc.jpg

Only 7 people to fill the race, I guess the game draws a line at what SR to include to fill the room. Nobody else left on between SR.C and SR.S

I could have easily won that race, however I was stuck behind a 1 bar connection with 700ms lag that moved around in stop motion, all over the track. After I finally got passed him I quickly made it to the front, reducing the 10 sec on first to 1.7 sec on the last third of the track. Finally back to SR 99! The missing 5 points that took so long to get.

I did manage two wins during my fall to the 70's SR, best was from 7 positions behind (Not a lot of qualifiers around on the Nord)
OOVc.jpg

Unfortunately no clean race bonus, 0.5 sec 'shortcut' penalty. Sometimes you have to take some grass to avoid cars. Someone screwing up then trying to block you with a speed difference of 50 mph or more...

Great racing on the Nord most of the time. At least with the limited SR budgets the dirty drivers get send of to A or B after every race. At some point they have to run out, right...

I was up early this morning so decided to take the Grp4 Megane out in Race A, I think that car is really well suited to the Megane had a win and a 3rd and was still in time for work :)

I had two goes at the Ring. Both were a bit of a fiasco. I managed to better my qualifying time from last night by 18s, which put me into P3 for both races. There was 12 in the first race and 13 in the second. First race was my peeps, a mix of DR/C and D with 5 non-qualifiers. The second race was a mix of 4 Bs, C, and Ds, with a single DR/A sitting in P6 un-qualified. You just knew he was going to crash his way to the front .

Race 1 starts and I know I was doing the ring, but when auto-drive cut out something happened to my tv or PS4, because I could swear it changed to an episode of The Dukes of Hazzard . Didn't take long for someone to knock me off and then the handling took a nose dive and I couldn't get the brakes to work or the car to turn for a few km. This lead to me falling further behind. In the end I finished P7.

SR went up 2, DR dropped nearly 200.

Feeling dissatisfied with starting 3rd and finishing 7th, I had another go. It was more or less more of the same, only it took a little longer to get bumped off. I had another Aussie get frustrated somewhere around Kottenborn and a pass attempt ended with him mowing the grass on the outside. Again I finished P7.

SR dropped to 85 from 92, DR went up by about the same amount as I last the previous race. I was about 10 ahead of where Race A left me. Day 6 visiting DR/C. Since there's no tyre wear I wish they would let us have soft sports instead of hards. :odd:

I'm taking a week off. Not a fan of racing on the ring, cannot memorise it so way too tentative.

Fuji is an abortion, too wide, no features, almost apex-less ... just dreadful.

The Nurburgring is long and I'm still re-learning it myself. But I think the more laps you do the more it generates a kind of flow. You don't remember the whole track just how one corner leads to the next. Or at least I don't try and remember the whole track.

Fujis straight is a bit too long for my liking but are you saying it has no corners? Do you just not know where the apexes are due to its width in places?

After a few months off GTS (playing PC2), I booted it up last night to try the 997 GT3 at Nurb. Unfortunately it just reminded me how the standard settings just suck the joy out of the cars... the 997 is just an understeering mess... feels nothing like the real one does... there's no feeling of the weight at the rear, and being able to use it to point the car in to corner entry, or to adjust your line mid corner.

The disappointing thing is it doesn't have to be like this - I tried the 996 GT3, and with rear toe set to 0.2 (from 0.6) it felt pretty decent with just this one setting change.

Back to PC2 for me, where cars feel like cars, not sledges.

I know where the apexes are but the entire track feels contrived. I have a deep loathing for "fiddly for the sake of fiddly", the last section of the race C configuration is maddening, just so annoying and Abu Dhabi like in it's needlessness.

The track overall is dull, difficult to race on, has zero flow from one corner to the next and yeah the featureless surrounds mean finding braking points and apexes is difficult.

I'm gonna load up PC2, do the update and see if it's any better, even just an AI race around Oulten Park in a Group 5 Zakspeed or something but on a decent track. GTS is absolutely brilliant but the tracks are, for me anyway, a massive weak point. I only really enjoy Ring GP, Bathurst and Gardens, can tolerate Seaside, Yamagiwa, Maggorie and Tsukuba.

1st race at Fuji. Start on pole. Lead for 3 laps, accidently cut a corner on the final lap, finish second after serving penalty.

2nd race. start 3rd. Start of second lap, pick up a double slip stream and miss my braking point at the ned of the straight. Crash. Battle back from 6th to finish 2nd

3rd race. Battle for the lead, outbrake myself whist trying to overtake, gapped. Finish 2nd.

4th race. Start 2nd. Take the elad at 1st corner. In the lead, pulling away - comfortable. Lap 3. Internet connection goes down. arrragh.

Is it possible to have that "S" ranking without A+ level? So many unskilled drivers with that "S" that I started to wonder...

Do you got some sort of bonus of taking it?

I'm starting to warm up to the idea of weeklies. I've missed out on some pretty good races back when they were dailies, so this really gives me a chance to take in a race that I otherwise would've missed.

I am now realizing that it is a zero contact policy in any sport mode race.

Even slight contact where neither vehicle even changes course, I get SR down. My nose to someone's rear bumper, sr down. Their nose to my bumper, SR down. Door to door, SR down. Crazy stuff when you are getting smashed around by no fault of your own by dive bombers or whatever.

I did one race A, and I was barely touched by 3 other vehicles on 3 separate occasions, and ended up losing 20 SR LOL

ok rant over. i have to try and Drive clean blah blah blah

Anyone else getting frustrated?!

On Monday evening I jumped into the Fuji race C with my successful car from the last Gr.2 event, the Lexus. Not knowing the general pace at my level I didn't spend too long on qualifying, but it turned out I was wayyyy off the pace. Started 13th-16th, never finished better than 11th. I dropped from 17,000 DR points to 15,000.

Tuesday evening I decided to try the NSX, and immediately improved my qually time by 2 seconds. This time I started in 4th. Got through to 3rd at the first corner and held it until the pits on lap 6/7. However I guess I couldn't manage the cold tyres because I made a slight error and a large queue of cars that had been waiting to pass me shot through, I compounded that with a spin and ended up finishing 9th with a further loss of DR.

I'm surprised though, the Lexus was pole sitter in most of the races I did, and I was decent with it at the RBR, so why did I have so much more speed out of the box with the NSX? What does it say about my driving style and can it help me to pick more suitable cars for future events?

I guess I'll try the GT-R tonight. Bring on the demotion.

I met the world angriest man this evening, unfortunately it seems like we won't be the best of friends.

It all started with him dropping it on his own on the exit of turn 1 which meant he was slow into the next left hander, I had a good run so went for a cheeky move up the inside, there was just about a cars width and I had momentum until he turned in on me 3 times (the last was exaggerated by me clipping the grass but there would've been contact anyway). It was nothing more than a racing incident (so I made it black and white and put it in slow motion just to make him look bad), no harm done for either of us in terms of time loss or penalties. What followed is just funny, enjoy!

@GOTMAXPOWER That's definitely a barge pass, you have no significant overlap before turn in. That doesn't excuse his later behavior, take it outside! I bet it wasn't that funny for the other cars trying to race around you two :/ However funny to watch from a safe distance :)

I got thrown back to the race select screen after a single race already today. Disconnected twice yesterday during warm-up. It just keeps getting worse! While at the same time the game lets people drive around with 750ms ping causing chaos...

How much is that Porsche for the ring race? I'm trying to save money and haven't purchased any cars from the new update yet. I'm about to do the Gr4 sport race right now.

Yeah, if you get S-rank via the FIA series it will display your DR rank as S now matter what your true DR rank is (I used to be DR-S even though my true DR was A). I did FIA manufacturers with McLaren in season 2 (in the Asia region), and McLaren were the worst manufacturer (that's why I chose them!). There were drivers in the McLaren T10 that were mid Dr-B (or worse), so were eligible for S-rank if they accepted it. You need to be S-rank to be eligible for FIA T24 superstars etc, but in reality, that is for the S-rank aliens only!

$160,000

From my perspective as a simracer and try to drive like in real world, 997 and The Ring just absolute perfect. Using cockpit cam without HUD and steel series headphone, the simulation experience just like im in the Ring.

Can I made it to 30k ? I hope, but the aliens from Japan and Aussie just like Takumi ghost

So I did the GR.2 race (with a surprise appearance by @Naveek Darkroom) and this one guy has abit of an issue with me:

Gran Turismo®SPORT_20181003030238.png

What's his problem? Apparently this:

Now sure I've gotten abit far on track limits, but I did that as I was anticipating him to spawn back only for him to spin himself out. Apparently, that's enough for me to be an "Idiot" despite making no contact (while this is also the same guy that enters back on track in a move to seemingly take me out earlier in the race. Funny that..

What car are you using for the daily c?
I bought the Lexus when gr2 came out and never tried any of the others but I think it's time I try another one.
Any advice? What are the pros and cons of the Honda and the Nissan?

I've just been using the Lexus in the two races I've done. Have yet to try out the NSX or GT-R, but I feel that the Lexus might be the best Fuel wise going off prior experience with all three.

Seriously frustrating...... down to one or two races a day for that same reason. Before I enjoyed it and didi probably 15 to 25 races a day.. I'm not happy trying to enjoy racing as fair as ever possible, but still get unfairly "hammered" with SR down........

This is probably the most epic duel I have been apart of. Worth watching until the end.

First time using motion controls. Hard to get use to driving without force feedback but its a lot better than ds4 sticks.

So, as a lower DR rank, you also gain much more on them in points? If they became S in that way, i mean.

Brantch Hatch is nice but a DR killer.

Agree! The guy was taking on his line.
Slipstream can be dangerous, ppl behind another car think "oh my god look how fast I am.. that guy in front is so slow, I have to pass him, he is slowing me!" - while the guy in front is actually pulling him to be fast.
