Did a qualy lap of Tokyo in a Huracán. I only get a 1:55.018 with an optimal time of a 1:54.668 on Softs and some BB changes from -2 to 0 to -1. Would probably try the GTI next for both qualy and race.

Had another race at Suzuka. Twice in 4 laps got a (2 sec) penalty near the finish. Casio Triangle/chicane I think. I gotta learn to be extra careful there.

Twice I slowed down on the straight thinking I had some time to spare. The slow down clock is a bit wonky IMO. Twice I had like 4 cars zoom by while I waited for the clock to move.

The other drivers have been awesome to race against. I have a lot more confidence this week to push harder because I have more confidence in the drivers around me.

So I really threw my principles over board and decided to actually race instead of doing only Q-Laps. I started the PS, launched GTS, went to Sports Mode, selected Race B and chose the GT86.

I still had a few minutes left and joined Qualification and even managed to set a new time (2:10.6). Time is up, „Please wait“, „Race participation is being prepared“... Back to Sports Menu (me mumbling angry, cat looks at me).

I reboot the PS4, again join the race.
Time is up, „Please wait“, „Race participation is being prepared“... Back to Sports Menu (me cursing and loudly giving the PS4 and GTS vulgar descriptions of sexual organs, cat gets giant eyes and turns his ears aerodynamically perfect flat and backwards, then leaves the room).

Again reboot. I check the network, join a lobby for testing purposes - works without any problems. Back to Sports Mode. No Qualy this time, just wait 6 Minutes... and drop back to sports Menu (me saying with a calm voice „F... Y.. you silly P.... of japanese C...“ [Actually it was much more offensive; in german; in my local dialect] and turning the box off for good).

At least the cat came back. After he puked some fur on the carpet.

...
If you go cut too much of the first curb of the chicane - the one on the right - it will cost 2 to 4 seconds. The way I have the game setup there are witches hats there - abut they get knocked off, and then, its more easy to not realise you've copped a penalty.

That's bizarre. Either restarting the game or restarting the PS4 *should* solve the problem.... for a few races anyway. I still don't know why PD hasn't fixed this. unless this *was* their fix .

The Alfa really is a pleasure to drive... Only wish the TTs would not be 50kph faster on straights...
Down to 2.10.100. Wants to bepushed more. But seem to need better exit speeds. Any hints?

After the hits to my DR, I decided to try something different at Suzuka. I got my Q in the Alfa down to a 12.0, but my optimal time was an 11.1. I feel like Im on the edge and I can't seem to be consistant in a race. Doesn't help that it's all momentum and tough to pass in that car. Got the Megane (I hate FF) and was doing consistant 12's after 2 laps. First race started 7th, ran low to mid 12's and got 4th. 2nd race started 8th, finished 9th. Took about 4 seconds in penalties and got punted hard in the chicane. I made the mistake of passing a GT-R...he was off road almost as much as on...I guess he didn't like being passed. I worked my way back up from 12th (I think) after I was reset, and he was banging doors with someone else when I came up on him again. Ended up passing them both going into the chicane but cut the corner too much. Lost some paint and took some penalties, but still at 92 for SR. I think I may be stuck at DR-C till next weeks races unless I keep driving the Megane.

Been no qualifying race c this week but its knocking the sr around a bit, its ok on a track with big sand traps and run off areas but these guys who are c/d dr catch walls so often and bounce into you and all of a sudden 3s penalty and orange down arrow.

This new Tokyo track is probably the best version in gts but it cant hold a candle to most of the real life tracks.

Ive been using a no quali account on this myself. Youre right about it being very difficult to have a clean race from the back here. It makes the clean wins more satisfying.

The track has an overall arcade feel to me. I do prefer real tracks but I enjoy the esses at the end and the first corner. It feels good to get those right.

So I seem to be missing the skill required in getting a good time out of Fugu Z for Race A.

I can only manage consistent 1:07's with no counter steering and TC 2, any tips?

Last night I did some real highway racing, Christmas shopping in the next town over. I kindly had to remind myself it is customary to stay in between the lines in real life and rubbing is frowned upon. I arrived safely without any SR Downs nor wall penalties, mirrors still attached.

However on the way back my failing sense of direction struck. I missed the entry back on the highway in a confusing, foggy, night time, busy mess and ended up in a rural area. I figured I would follow the highway on local roads to the next entrance, crossed it once, then thought I crossed it again at a point where there was only an entrance in the wrong direction. It turned our to be a feeder highway I crossed while my mind was convinced I was now on the North side of the highway I needed to get on. That's one disastrous misbelief in the middle of the night with heavy fog. I ended up in the middle of nowhere with fog patches so thick at points I wasn't sure the road was continuing.

Instead of going right, back to the highway I went left and only got further away from it. Confused by not hitting the highway again or any other road names I know that should be there on the side I believed I was on, I turned left again and again until I hit signs with directions to the airport. When I finally got back to the highway I was so convinced I had to turn right onto it that it felt extremely disorienting to go in the opposite direction. Total navigation failure, and one wonders how I get to my 1 hour 18 minute qualifying time! I ended up doing 82km for the 41km trip home. At least the highway itself was high enough to be above the fog. Once I got off it again close to home I had to slow down to 40kph as visibility was 20 meters or less, crazy dynamic weather!

The real life experience paid off, first race tonight, 8 positions gained with the clean race bonus. No fog, day time, clear track, GTS is so easy. Other good news, I missed the 5am entry today, I finally slept a few hours more! Unfortunately the 5:30 am race had the fast people again already. 6am race is loading, 11 people, SR is back to S and A only. The world is starting to wake up.

Grrr, disconnected in lap 2. Go get em @Vegard!

Improved my qualifying time for Race C using the GTI from 1:55.018 to a 1:54.496, 0.998 seconds behind @saika159's qualy time in the same car.

That sounds like any one of my races .

Suzuka has been brilliant this week. It's hard to overtake, and you have to take your time if you want to remain clean. I have finally got back to SR A thanks to some clear races, DR has risen nicely too.

Had some great close clean racing last night, probably the best 4 races for clean but close racing.

Wow, avoid the 7am race! What horrors. I started 19th, made it to 4th, one of my best results, yet now my car needs severe bodywork done. I got run into so many times that despite never seeing SR Down my SR still dropped, although only by 1 point. What I finished ahead off is a lot of shameful driving. One blue A/S the last car I passed, one of the few clean drivers. Then Red B/B, B/S, C/B. Neutral B/A, Red C/B, C/B, followed by a lone blue B/S. Next red B/E, C/C, D/B, one heroic blue D/C driver and 2 more, red D/E, D/S plus a DNF.

One of the red SR.E's was already SR.E at the start. Matchmaking filling the room with SR.S to SR.E certainly makes for an interesting race. I got punted twice, run into on straights when passing, tapped on my rear panel, either deliberate or drivers not knowing the size of their car, seat belt recommended!

I dedicate this win to you my fallen comrade.

Hat off you to sir, you would have won that regardless. 1:55.528 can't touch that nor a 16 flat finish time. Great race for the first 2 laps! Congratulations.

Great little duel yesterday at Suzuka in my blessed Ferrari. Qualified 12th and fought my way up the pack, and dropped off after a little mistake at Degner. Ended up fighting this guy for 4th, culminating in this lovely clean pass after 130R (very small contact but I think I kept it legal). Fair play to Rayman in the Audi for doing his part in keeping it clean, I had to drop to 1st to hold it together in the final chicane. But yeah, like I said, very happy with the result!

Did few Suzukas today after endless poop wiping on my newborn. Racing feels so much cleaner on NA, every race was a joy starting from the back, got a bit more dirtier as I started getting matched with higher dr/sr.

In other news, daily mileage reward lottery had F1, Nissan GTR gr3, Porsche gr1 and N500(?) Merc SLS on the wheel. Slowing down on F1 and I'm already feeling it, and then guess where it ends up..:grumpy:

No early Xmas gift for me haha

Next weeks races are up.

A - Tokyo Expressway - Central Inner Loop - 5 laps - Gr.X Provided Car
B - Autodrome Lago Maggiore - GP II - 4 laps - Gr.3
C - Tokyo Expressway - East Outer Loop - 7 laps - Gr.4
Those do not look exciting at all, but can't knock them too much till I properly try them.

Edit: Also same 3 choices of tyre for race C, seems like they're gonna stick with that for now

Agreed. Wish PD would go back to the true “Daily” races.

I managed to enter a race today: C, Tokyo. Started on the 997 on hard tires from 10th with a Qualifying Lap of 1:58.2.

There are cars which I dislike and which I will never ever drive because I have the impression that the drivers are overly aggressive and just think of moving forward at any price (At least in DR-C). Until today these cars were the Mégane Gr. 4 and the Beetle Gr. 3. Thirty minutes ago I added the GTI Gr. 3 to that list (I also have an opinion about GTI-drivers in real life but that‘s not the point here).

I managed to get through the first corner without an accident. On the straight leading to the harbour chicane I let two cars pass (they were simply faster) and then the first GTI banged into all three of us. I managed to keep going and didn‘t get a penalty. Then on the left-hander leading into the tunnel the mess started. I tried to stay at the border but it didn‘t help: got pushed (other driver got his deserved penalty), bounced back and hit another car while trying to keep the car under control. 4s Penalty for me.

Now already down to 14/18 I decided to serve ASAP which I did on the finish straight. So I was on 17th and just kept going with an engine mapping of 3. I went up to 12th by lap 5 due to pit stops (no stop for me) but got passed again. I finished 16th with a blue S but a loss of about ~750 DR.

As I already speculated: DR C seems to be my natural habitat. As soon as I approach the threshold to B my DR goes down steeply from day to day until I reach ~5500. Then it goes back up.

Yuck. I had enough Tokyo this week and GR.4 is way too slow for Tokyo. Lago Maggiore is not my favorite, nor a daily B race or reverse. I guess PD wants me to play something else.

Btw can someone enlighten me why I got a 5 sec penalty here. I cannot figure it out.

Love the track for race C but get SR down even with a relatively clean race with no wall bouncing so have to give it a break and try repairing it at Suzuka before my SR falls any lower and I get caught in the destruction derby classes of no return C/D.

That did not go well. Got a disqualification warning for overtaking on the straight and then slowing down on 130r more than the car I just overtook. Drove carefully from then, and got hit in the final chicane on the last lap and disqualified. I think it's too late, caught in a system of a down, a downward spiral, a vulgar display of penalties.

Why didn‘t you just leave your (car) keys on the table instead of coming here and tell a fable?
