Whatever happened to Alpha Cipher? Haven't seen him post here in awhile but I see him in the qualifying leaderboards frequently.
I recently wondered about that, too. Who knows? I also wondered what happened to a guy named YoungVisionair, who was a really great driver, that just vanished. KP says he hasn't qualified for a race since April 2018. He was A+ when he disappeared.
Maybe they're in jail.
Perhaps he decided to go Pro, no time for forum :~). He's only 17 I think!
Haha sorry I disappeared suddenly :(
I switched my focus to rFactor 2

It used to be this Macca but I changed cars mid season to compliment my team mate

so yeah there's less time to play GTS. I still get on every now and then though
Hope to see you guys again one day on the track :)

And yeah I've been wondering about Sofiaspeed as well. Been quite a while since we last heard from her

Ack, I blamed the wrong person tonight. A car turned in on me at the final section and bounced himself of then tapping my rear right bumper, 3 sec penalty, cost me 3 positions at the finish. Unfortunately I blamed the other Canadian after the race while checking the replay. The car hitting me had a big 8 on the side, the Canadian was in 8th position at that time, but not the car with door number 8 of course :banghead: I apologized by message after checking the replay again. One 8 is not the other 8 doh.

The Nordschleife was fun tonight. I'm so close to DR.A again, less than 800 DR to go. Racing is so much cleaner at night. There were still a few troublemakers yet those have gone to bed now. The last room I was in had only one neutral rating, rest blue. First time no red ratings this week. My best was a second place finish, first still 6 seconds away. Perhaps I'll qualify tomorrow and go for some victories. The only thing is, I have no experience driving the first section at full speed, always riding the brakes through there.

Oh well, it was just one 'no red' race. Next one had two red A's and a white one. SR.A is being let in again. Time to quit before it goes pinball again. This race already almost started as a disaster when the car behind me forced a 3 wide before even getting to the two turns before the start.
We just shared the track together. I was one of the red A's when you got the no red. I kept botching the last section before the finish line tonight. So feeling like I had had just about enough with my 8:00.xxx time I went back, and TT. I improved my tune to 7:53.5xx. Hopefully that helps a little. Good racing with you though.

Like seemingly so many others, Bathurst has always been a massive challenge to me (2.05 was by far my fastest lap). Last night after watching some track guides (thanks Kie) I sat down to do some solid practice.

My main take away from the track guides was that I am being far too aggressive on the brakes going down the hill. A simple change of just easing on the brakes slowly and I've managed to get my time down to a 2:03.1 I actually felt that I was starting to click with the track and understand the flow much better. During my 20 straight laps I hilariously was getting my optimal time down to over 1.5s faster than my actual best! Eventually managing to hook up a cleanish lap although there's still over .5s in there.

I'm still not confident enough to race so migrated to Race A for a bit. Not that that was particularly successful but SR stayed intact and that's the main thing!

@VolkswagenX: You were in the 2.06s and I took my time down from 2.07.9 to 2.07.2, finished the practice and saw you'd moved down to 2.05s. I doubt very much I'll be catching you this week.

@NevilleNobody: Glad the M3 worked for you. I love it on tracks like Brands Hatch so thought turn in would not be an issue but I seemed to struggled with it on T2, Forrest & The Chase. The Jag turned out to be fast even though I hadn't thought of it before. Still, Evo is not my fastest but definitely my most consistent. Vantage lights are muck.

There are a lot of players this week enjoying testing themselves on Bathurst and the challenge of improving times in the dark with the Gr3 that are still not racing. I'm way behind you on times but mentioned yesterday that the biggest mistake I made this week was racing before I was ready. I'm really enjoying trying different cars and challenging myself. Can't imagine how drivers race this track at night in real life. Pure nuts!

Apart from youtube is there any way in game that i can view some of the faster drivers hotlaps?Try and get some pointers and corner speeds etc, appologies if its been asked somewhere else.

Yes, just go to the Qualifying Rankings screen, and then the 'Top 10 Stars' list to see the top qualifying times. As long as there is a little play symbol next to their time you can select it and watch their lap.

If you go on qualifying rankings then click on top 10 stars, and they should have a replay button next to their time. click one of them and it should allow you to play or download the replay.

I used the circuit experience to practice the sections where I felt I lost a lot of time. I also studied the top ten drivers to see what speed they take through the corners. Some sections of the track I was down 20 to 25 km/h in the corners. Was also way to carefull on stepping on the gas when exiting corners.

Mount Panorama is a bit like Fight Club. The first rule about Mount Panorama is we don't talk about Mount Panorama. The second rule of Mount Panorama is, if you are an Australian, you must race .

I finally finished watching last years N24 last week. Bathurst 12h at night is nutz, but N24 is insane! It's funny how many of the international competitors that come to the Bathurst 12h and 6h compare it to Nurburgring :sly:.

Only time I've cleanly passed someone at the Mutkurve when they haven't run off the track.

Is that just the replay view? I see that view a lot on YT videos but I just don’t like racing from that viewpoint. I’ve gone to the hood view as the bumper view gets too obscured in heavy traffic. But I don’t have ideal awareness of if someone is diving in on me in a corner. I used to use the hat switch to toss a quick look to the side but not sure how to do that with the Thrustmaster wheel. One button is behind, but don’t know how to get that 3/4 behind look left or right. So I’m sure I get in the way of people trying to pass while following my line.

Most of you study this far more than I do. I just tend to jump in and race and try to go as fast as I can while not blocking faster/more aggressive drivers.

Which is why I’m usually in the high 4000 to low 7000 range (depending on the variety of races/tracks each week). Can’t imagime I’ll ever get my DR up to and A or S rating. Still, it’s massive fun. Raced on the Ring today and last lap coming down the back straight (another way I’m not serious enough—I don’t know all the sections for each track by name) had the last place guy coming up on me at a good clip. I tried to take that blend under the bridge on the outside so he could maintain speed on the inside and concede the position to him. He guessed wrong and we bumped and he went off the track. I had a penalty (took me down to a 96 SR) and slowed so he could get back on and pass me as I felt I had mucked it up. But he did too and wouldn’t pass me. Lol. The proverbial hallway dance. And we both apologized afterwards.

Thats what I’m loving about the online racing. Can see the amazing drivers times while me and the amateurs muck around in the back trying to imitate the better racers. Can’t believe I waited this many years to do the online racing.

I know this is OT and belongs in a wishlist thread, but, sure would be nice if there was a bring your own car circuit experience to learn these racks propper.
Sorry mods.. As you were.

I always race chase cam, but I might change to cockpit if I get a wheel. The radar also helps with awareness.

@MikeV27: Ooooh, it's a long time since I had one of those days. Usually have to wait until midnight when the rest of the house is asleep before I can even log on. Enjoy!

@Kwame: Surely you can just do time trials in whatever car, track and conditions in order to replicate? Or do a custom race if you want to get a feel for picking the line in traffic, set tyre wear, fuel use etc? To be fair, the AI in Arcade Custom Mode brake check so much it actually is like playing Sport mode sometimes.

Yes. But if I want to get the technical second half of the N24 just right, I have to drive 4 minutes before I get there. In a circuit experience setup, I can try the section over and over, test different lines abd brake biases etc. Over and over without having to run the entire circuit. All this in any car, any tire would be great.

It's been a while since I dabbled in Race C. So I got two quick questions...

Do you even need to save fuel with the 3x multiplier?
Is the hard compound worth using?

I got my Large double double and my ocs order just got delivered, I'm all set.

2 races at Mt. Panorama, had to learn the corners since it's one of my weakest track. Shaved about 4 seconds off the first lap to a low 2:11...
Sadly the races were more of bumper cars since I'm more of a midfielder (no soccer pun intended). Got hit all over the top of the hill and ended up with a lot of damage, save the loss in positions made through the first few corners with cautious driving.
Zero stop strategy tried with soft and medium for each race. The soft was good and gave me consistent times, but the last few laps were a huge struggle with near 100% degradation. Medium wise was a little slow on the pace (perhaps affected by the unavoidable contact and crashes) but manageable on the long run. Looking forward for a better race tomorrow...

Did another round of race A and got dirty blocked by this Japanese guy...had to force my way past him with a 3 second penalty, but managed to build up some momentum to overcome that since his pace was really slow and deliberate.

I think I should seriously learn my way around Nurburgring or perhaps try an evasive but conservative racing around opponents. It's kind of sad when there's players just out there to ruin the fun. Either way, I'm still excited to have some proper action with a few online players!

@Kwame: Good point! Not thinking of a track that long when I read your comment.

@MikeV27: No fuel saving required. I tried it on hards and while it is certainly possible I think with other drivers on track coming out of the pits with fresh softs you end up like a mobile road block on the last 2 laps. Even in the interests of everybody's enjoyment this is not ideal. It is certainly possible, but probably lose as much time per lap both because you are on hards for the full duration and heavily worn tyres by the end as you save by not pitting. Just my humble though.

No and No. Soft/Soft is the way to go because it's very, very hard to get the time back that you lose on the first two laps on the softs.

No need to save fuel, Soft/soft seems to be the strategy while pitting on lap 4 from what I’ve read.

I thought the same thing when N24 and Panorama were previewed at night for the 1st time. I totally regretted not racing after seeing the replay videos posted here, and on YouTube. My take away from that point on was there's always gonna be someone faster, and someone slower. After practicing long enough to ensure that I could handle my own on track, I just jumped in. Now mind you, I'm no where near the fastest guy on the track, but I do pride myself on being the cleanest, and most fair.

EDIT: Just when I thought I had the multi-quote thing figured out lol.

Time to get to it. Home from work today so my goals are to get sub 1.30 on race A and sub 8.00 on the ring. I would also like to try race C for the first time but i don't like being on the track if i don't feel like i wont be in the way lol

True this, 100% true this.

To those not racing, you're insane. It's mid week already, doing 2.03's and not racing, come on, get on with it and enjoy yourself.

Had a good night of DR gains last night but made on ehuge error. I was battling a guy for 2 laps, i was a bit faster but could not find a way through, other guys was fighting fairish but blocking a bit more than i'd like. We enter the pits and I've been practicing all week to make up time there, i am a good distance back and he just steps on the brake well, well before i would and i hit him hard, sending him spiralling off.

Felt bad about it but damn his brake point was a solid 1 second before mine and caught me out.

Hi guys and girls, newbie here looking for some advice.

Started on-line racing two days ago with an E/B rating and have so far done 6 races at the Nurburgring. Set a qualie time of 8:08 and in my third race started 2nd and stayed there until the end. But every other race I am being punted off from behind! I am not braking any earlier than those I am racing, it seems to happen just after I have taken someone, or in the last section of the lap after the long straight.

The most annoying thing is that due to bouncing around after being hit I have had a number of penalties, maybe 2 or 3 per race, and my rating SR rating has dropped to a D! (Driver level up to a D). Now I am being matched with other D's and the racing is just getting dirtier! I want to race clean and realistic, but the daily races seem way too aggressive.

How do I repair my SR, and is there some way of getting into 'cleaner' groups?

Cheers

Vimes

Nurgburgring is one of the hardest track to keep your SR up because it is so difficult to overtake and easy to make mistakes, pretty much a recipe for chaos. If you want to keep doing it then you could try dropping to the back at the start and then cruising around to get your SR up, or if you are fast enough the just put in a great quali time and blast away from the front.

Normally Race C is better for upping your SR, as longer races mean people are less impatient and longer races allow you to gain more SR, but Mount Panorama is a hard track to learn so it might not be the best.

Tough week this week for SR. Even the A race is bad because it is on a city circuit.
