I focused to much on lap times the last few weeks and not enough on race craft. For that reason I've decided to not qualify and start from the back in race B. Did do a few quick practice laps in time trial with bob settings to know if I can be competitive at DR C SR S range. Will probablyb distroy my DR and SR:lol:
 
Hmm I've come back from an appendix removal and had a drive yesterday qualifying for two laps on th Nordschleife and then the event changed so I tried the B choice - the F1 'Ring - and did 6 laps in all, three in the revised little Peugeot which felt quite quick now but was over 2 minutes -just - and then the second car an Audi mid engined car i know well - I did three laps with a sub two minutes - and i turned off the TV and thought it all felt OK.

So I turned on the TV this morning - and the PS4 announced that I was disqualified for bad driving or something - so I am now barely an S driver and I must have been awarded last place I guess ... yeh lost quite a few DR points. And there was a Sony fault warning sign too which invited me to report the fault to Sony ... by downloading a screen capture - there was no text input available. I've no idea how to do a screen capture - let alone go back in time to the fault screen. Not a great welcome back. I am assuming I must have practiced in the pre - race mode, but I don't recall seeing any time warning about a race coming up ... weird, and 6 laps with a car change in between - even more weird. So know I reckon I am going to loose my S status because its now just 81 and then quickly I'll get beaten up and loose DR ... such is the nature of the mid field.

I’ve got the 98(not 92) Integra down to 2:40.1 so far, it’s a nice car to drive and they actually gave us OK tires at least. There’s definitely more there to find. :)

My wife actually took it around for a rip as well and scored a 3:36.5 for her best lap, I was impressed, she also drove a Miata on old Nordy yesterday for a smooth 13 minute lap. :)

This is my best lap from Race C so far, the Integra is really fun to drive. :)


I’m working on B now, the Porsche is so twitchy it makes it hard to drive. I’m barely getting under 2:00 right now with best of 1:59.7 and it ain’t pretty lol. But it seems like you kinda have to use this car, most of the top ten are using it.

Top tip: It's best to get in early with these "daily" races, or else you will find it much harder to win. That's what I've come to understand, as less people have put in fast times. I found it particularly difficult to win on Saturday, but yesterday I managed to pick up 2 wins, bringing my total to 80. I won Race C on my third attempt after starting first, something I've done several times on Suzuka. I lead every lap, got the fastest lap, had a clean race and won by 13 seconds. Complete domination. I then got the other win in Race A after starting third.
 
@Pigems I was just watching a livestream and I saw that the top 10 in EMEA consists of mostly R8s. #1 as of a few minutes ago is Williams_Fuvaros with a 1:54.5 in the R8. Do the top drivers of America not enjoy that car as much? :P

Also, did the R8 go from zero to hero after the physics update or is it just me?

Before the last update the R8 was very difficult to drive with a ton of snap oversteer. I’ve heard it’s better now since the update but haven’t tried it, there are two of those in the top ten here when I checked, one other car and the rest Porsche’s.

Did you buy that car? When i drove the track, it was just a car that was provided by the game! Or...maybe i had it in my garage already.

It wasn't in my garage and pretty sure when I first went in to do the qualifying I couldn't because car not in garage - if it was a game/race supplied car and I messed up I will kick myself!! It cost at least half an hour of grinding!!

The second one is my favorite race screenshot. I'm in the yellow car on the right. The purple one had a seriously lag, and slammed into the rest of us at about 900 m.p.h. I was briefly scored in first, because even though I was backwards, I flew up that berm, and past the cars that you see on the track. It was way faster than that car ever went facing forward. I've never seen a bad connection cause that severe of a collision before or since. :lol:

Wicked Jump!! You got way more height lol. I actually didn’t even notice the cars on the side of the track at first in the second picture until I finished reading your post haha, that’s crazy. Imagine going past full speed in reverse? :)

Edit: Just cracked 1:30 in the Mustang for a 1:29.9. :D

I got it to 1:29.8 lol, I see where more time is but I can’t put it all together yet. Less throttle is more in some cases it seems, but the Mustang handles Great! Like really nice, it’s super fun to drive, I’m having a blast right now. I think it’s time to go racing. :D

Ironically, the slowest drivers on that track tend to be the ones who use the least brakes. 💡

That makes sense given the combo, sliding is fun but not fast. :)

Haven’t had one of these for a while, Clean Dub! Started 2nd but the guy on Pole fumbled early and went off track enough that I caught him on the next straight and I never gave him another window after that, finished 1.5s clear or 2nd and back to a blue S. :)

Does anyone know if side drafting works in GTS? I keep forgetting to try it to find out.

I side draft all the time. It seems to work unless it’s just my imagination or wishful thinking. If slipstream is set to real, it should work at around a cars length and just to the side of the car in front.
I’ll pay closer attention to it.

I'm really thankful that race A is not a grid start. The rolling start allows everyone to have a bit of room entering the first turn.

I agree 100%!!! Starts have been good so far, though I’ve only done two.

Got another one, 3 Star with FL this time, cleared the field by 12+ seconds in a B to D dr and SR S room. Only one guys Q time was within a second though, so not really a fast room. But I’ll take Dubs all day long. :)

Complete speculation, but I get the impression that not having a shifter costs at least 1.5s per lap at Suzuka for race C.

Maybe not 1.5 but definitely some for sure. It doesn’t shift quite as poorly as some of the other H pattern cars they’ve given us at least. :)

I forgot that we don't get to use our own car there. I have my rent a racer livery all ready, and I can't use it! It's not perfect since the GT 350 font isn't right, but it will do. I shared it if anyone wants to take a look.
Edit: @Pigems keep grabbing those wins. Your time is #56 in the region right now, so I'd say you'll be getting some more before the nights up.:cheers:

Thanks, I seem to have takin to this combo pretty quickly. :)

There’s a couple of spots where a ton of speed can be held through the turn, I gained almost 2 seconds once I figured it out. The first one is the downhill left hander after the tight section leading to the back straight, slow down enough and stay tight left while staying in third gear, it feels like it’s lugging but its way faster than dropping to second in the long run. Same with the last corner, brake earlier to the cones and stay in 4th gear the whole way round.

I just sat down to run some laps till the wife and dog are down for the night and i know i wont be disturbed mid race. Turn on the other tv to have a little something on during my "smoke" breaks, and Bullitt is on!

Auto is bad for the health
 
I decided to enter the group 3 contest at Nurburgring GP. I was shocked to enter the lobby with the pole position. A fellow member was on the grid right behind me!
It was a tension filled 4 laps for me. I was battling to breathe and hit my marks, It was obvious the slightest mistake and I would be forced to give up my position in first. Very clean racing, neither of us with any mistakes to speak of...we had different styles and I had a tenth here or there and he had the tenth here and there. The race continued into the final time through the tight chicane and around the final corner and I managed to barely hang on for the victory by just 2 tenths. NEv and I had walked away from the field for a gt planet 1-2 finish! Nev clipped me by a few tenths for fastest lap, and thanks for the clean race man! :cheers::gtpflag: That is all I have for tonight.

Man, today was a good day.
Did only daily race c today. My goal was 6 wins today. I got 7, so that’s real good for business.
I just wish the gearbox model didn’t suck so bad that it sometimes punishes you for getting a faster exit.
Integra type r is my favourite fwd roadcar for sure.
DR went up a lot! A thousand points today infact!
