Having missed Race B I entered Race C for the midnight run. Was pretty happy qualifying P5/17 with the Viper on a grid of DR/S-D, with the bulk being D.

I was doing fairly well moving up to P3 after 2 laps... then dropping back to P5. It was pretty chaotic and I was trying hard to avoid contact.. and it looked like for the most part so was the general population. I got into a bit of a battle with the guy who started P2. He tapped me a couple of times. It was less about being dirty and more about having a hard time dealing with my erratic braking as I fought to stay on the black stuff .

Every one pitted lap 5, and I mean *everyone* ... except me! Yay!!! I'm a champion!!! I'm in the lead!!!!!!. Yeh, dream on drongo. I didn't do any short shifting, I was bouncing off the rev limiter but had to pit lap 7 for fuel... oh yeh and tyres... the last two laps had me haemorrhaging bulk time :scared:. I went into the pits P1 and came out of the pits P10 . Which is where I finished. I was sure I was P9, but the car I passed must have been on the previous lap.

DR dropped another 13, SR went up to 99. Another day above DR 1 :dopey:.

Do they purposely choose the worst handling cars for race A? Once it starts sliding, good luck catching it without hitting something or spinning. Taking long sweeping turns at 50mph isn't my idea of fun racing. N100 races should be in beginner league, not Sport mode.

I'll bet there aren't many "beginners" that can come anywhere near to the top 10 qualifying times posted already..... down to 2:07:xxx now.
To do that takes some real skill and finesse. I salute them  Top drivers.

Riddle me this then. Two races. *neither* had any contact, *no* orange SRs, yet the race with the clean race bonus netted 6 SR and the race with a short cut penalty netter 4 :p.

And on to race B to try getting some SR back for Race C. Qualified P10/15 on an all DR/D grid with the M3. Bit disappointing, but the spread between P11 and P6 was 0.6s.

Auto drive lets go with the wheels still turned and off we go. T1 was a bit chaotic but generally ok. I found a lot of people going a bit wider than I was expecting, and I found myself moving up places. I had one bad pass where the person in front went wide, and I thought I could be through before his line intersected mine. I was wrong, he turned into me and I was rewarded with an orange SR and a 5s penalty. Well deserved, so I pressed on. I gained another 1.5s clipping a corner just that little bit too close and dropped from P5 to P10 across the line. Fair enough. Saw an additional two orange SRs from being rear ended.

SR down only 2... I was expecting closer to 6 for a Race B. DR dropped about 500.

I decided to have another crack, so I did some more qualifying laps and managed to get a time that would have got me pole on the same grid. I was instead P6 to start, when the reset to Sport Mode Screen bug hit.

I'll rephrase, SR isn't supposed to be affected by corner cutting penalties, at least in my experience and as I understood it, SR is only supposed to change according to your interactions with other drivers.

and I'm sure we've all had the 'red or white post-race SR after no orange SR' before

Oh god... Race B in my region is half filled with idiots and rammers. I lost two grades worth of SR because they're ramming and pushing all over the place.
Managed to punish one idiot by letting him push me off and ram into me, got a 5.4 second right after he served his 4.9 second. Karma for him! Still gonna punish a few more bad drivers and make them quit before I do.

But on a positive note, laptime improved from 2:03 (due to a bad mistake and exit at the end) to 2:01.015. At least I'm satisfied about getting my lines right. But getting a VW VGT around might be twisty for itself I guess...?

Hilariously I am getting stronger curse with SR down nd rammers this week. Maybe I should jump on to the online leagues in my timezone...

I gave that comment a like...even though I have absolutely sod all idea what it meant. Let me know if was an insult though so I can feign upset.:D

Edit; Think I get that now. Just read the rest of the thread and I’m about 4 hours behind time. Doh!

:) Well done

It took me longer to realise that you were referring to Perth as the location and being "behind time" since it is 8 hours ahead of me. I thought at first it might be your own local slang for a langer.:D

I am from Sydney, so the friends etc that are a bit behind, we just call them Perth given the 3 hr delta.

I've been racing the Peugeot 908 at Sarthe and where you say to brake, at the first of Mulsanne Straight's chicanes, I cannot turn the car. I end up running into the racing curbing, rather than turning enough to the right. Not sure if its me not taking the power off quick enough, or turning the wheel quicker, or what. And its that chicane where in the race where I loose touch with the fast qualifiers ie the 3:20 to 3:22 qualifier guys. I'm frustrated with my lack of technique.

I was talking about the first Ford Chicane which is at the very end of the lap, alongside pit lane. After you exit the last Corvette curve there’s 2 chicane remaining before the finish line, both are the Ford chicanes. First one isn’t as tight and you can basically fly through it.

The chicanes after mulsanne straights are a different story. My original comment was about the 2016 R18, so if you’re using the 908 you have to brake just a little earlier. In the R18 I brake just after the 150m sign, just before the small patch of brown in the grass that is between 150 and 100. You need to fly into that one as well, trail brake as much as you can while turning in or you won’t be able to brake that late. Hug the kerbs then get on the throttle early, as soon as you turn left. For the 2nd chicane, I brake later than most seem to. A split second after the 100m sign and sharp left hugging the kerb so you can smash the throttle on the way out as soon as you start turning right, using the whole width of the track through the turn and the exit. Again, just give yourself a tiny bit more braking distance in the 908.

The past two times this race has been around I’ve managed a 3:20.7 and a 3:21.2.

I’m sure this combo will be back in a few weeks anyway, so good luck! ‍♂️

So I've put some times in early this week but I suspect I may have to redo these but how do they look as really hoping to get
some DR back this week!

One Make Honda Beat Race - 2:15.415
Gr 3 1:59.104
Gr 4: 2:07.925

Last time i ran NGP as race C it was a one make affair when the megane was untouchable.

If you're bored, have a watch of this but keep an eye on all the protagonists as some pit and others do not. I was plenty untidy but copped heaps too.

EDIT just noticed i too tyres but did not need gas at the stop too so that brings me into the fray for the win but carrying a penalty.

Damm, top ten for race A is already down to 2:10.5-2:13.3, I didn’t test the honda last night but it’s got 40 less HP than the Porsche I tested and my best time in that was 2:11 lol, it might take a while to catch up to a 2:10 in the Honda.
For this race, the Honda's power ratio is set at 140%, making it 87hp. 👍
Still, it should be 4 or 5 laps.

Yeh, that's what I thought too :odd:. Lets face it... a lot of what goes on behind the scenes in this game is less code and more incantation .

It's a matter of perspective. You can say race A is worth a maximum of 6 points (clean race, all sectors SR up arrow). A shortcut penalty negates the SR up arrow for that sector, thus 'loses' you points, or rather you didn't earn any for that sector. Each sector is only worth a fraction of SR though. Race A is 3 laps x 4 sectors (I think), thus 0.5 SR per SR up arrow.

You can also lose the SR up arrow without a shortcut penalty as the track limits are slightly different and shortcut penalties don't always trigger. You can also get the clean race bonus with a short cut penalty. PD employs IBM's Watson to determine shortcut penalties down to the nanosecond :dunce:

Bleeding in the throttle is the proper way, but being straight is what stops spins. I really wish the TC dashboard light which is disabled with TC off and just dark grey, I wish it would flash yellow or something when your TC is zero and your rear tyres are slipping.

Well, yes, I was referring to how to get to grips with TCS off for those who are trying to figure it out.

Personally, I have never played any GT with TCS on and I turn it off in GTS right from the start, so now it's all just second nature to manage the wheel spin.

The 458 Gr3 is a great car to practice with because it's so loose. BTW, it's also pretty fast around Lago, as is the Huracan, which is my current fastest at 1:56.6. Actually, I think most of the mid engine cars are quick at Lago. I don't think they'd be as fast with the aids on because their rotation and slip is what get's them pointed the right way.

I just did a quick race C, see how no stop goes. I used the 4C which makes it with FM4 most of the way. I finished 7th, however my fastest lap only 2:12, it's not a good strategy to win. Tire wear isn't a problem again, short shift fuel saving is where it's at, pit stop or no pit stop. A Huracan won the race 25 seconds ahead. SR back to 99 anyway.

The Slophy is a strong if not META for race C this week. Got 2 wins and a third starting at bottom half of the grid, shortshifting and playing with fuel map in the tighter sections.

Ran some laps for the A and B races this morning. I am waaayyyyyy slow in that Honda. I can't seem to keep it on the razors edge that it needs to be on to be fast. Suprisingly unstable car i found.

As for lago. I actually like the track although i am not very fast on it. Tried the old m3 and barely got under 2 minutes. I know it's probably a slower car so i just wanted to try it first. Will move onto try other cars i am comfortable with tonight afsr work, if i get on. Wife is off work this week so i might not get a lot of gts time.... lol

Any strategies for Race C?
4C on RH, can no stop if you qualy around top 10. I was at the back, full throttle all race, had to pit on lap 8 with 0.4 laps remaining. Tyres barely worn. I'm surprised how stable the car is. Was expecting the MR slide in the corners. Kind of slow, but good ride!

Results from last night. I started off as an A/S driver in the RS01, the 4C and Aston. Got tapped by a GT-R side by side while using the M4 and gave me the orange arrow. 👎

The OyVeyron surprised me even more than the 4C. Really smooth car to drive. I pit Lap 5 for each car, with about 2.0-2.2 laps of fuel remaining and changed tyres. Full throttle each race.

Race B is much better for the RS01. I got killed at Monza. At "the Lake", it's handling is the ace in the hole.
TCS 1 and I wasn't even pushing hard. Just watched the cars ahead trying too hard( it was an A/S and B/S room).

Lester's already number 1 at race A & B.
I'd love to see his process to get a fast lap. I imagine he knows all the tracks well, but does he go all out and work on sections he makes mistakes, or does he start slow and build. I did a quick couple laps in the A race, and haven't made it through the esses yet. Top guys are wide open through there.
BTW, awsome early lap @sturk0167 ! Well done...you should post a vid to help me catch you!

„B and C look interesting“ I thought.

„Cayman and 911 would be good cars“ I thought.

„Just one race with each“ I thought.

„Oh, now you‘re nearly down to DR-D“ I thought.
