This is why I use my other account at times, because crap like this happens, this was all in one race C last night. There was more but this was the worst of it, I tried to drive clean but I got fed up by the end of it and started fighting back, went from SR A to C lol.

Seriously, all in one race. :lol:

UPS man finally brought my Playseat last night. I set it up this morning (only takes about 10 minutes). First thing I did was take the Shelby to Willow Springs. Holy cow, I ended up doing a lot of off-roading. Then I went to BB to do some qualifying laps, because I've done that track a lot in the last few days, and knew I could get a good comparison. Started off pretty rough. It takes a bit of time to get an idea of how much turn of the wheel gets the car to turn as much or as little as you want. It took about 15 laps to get a decent time (33.2).

As I expected, the biggest gain for me is being able to use partial throttle in turn 1, until I get the car pointed the right direction. The toughest thing is recovering, one the car gets loose. Lots of spins and wall collisions. One thing I noticed about the G29 is you have to push the brake really hard to get your car stopped. I'm gonna need a lot more practice with it. Wouldn't even think about entering a race, at this point.

@Pigems There are no words.....

Had four races on the bean this morning. ALL CLEAN AND FAST. I don't know what the hell was wrong with people last night. Some of the names i even know as having raced clean many times with were being extremely aggressive and bumping people.
Good races today so far, just trying to keep aliens in sight. Got a podium in each race and am oh so close to dr A, like a few hundred. Also got my time down to a 32.870:)

Well, you came across a few interesting specimens there :lol:

I think I‘ll have my cat (deceased in early 2014) open a GTS account. She already has a Facebook page and once really got a letter (yes, real paper) from the equivalent of the german broadcasting agency asking her to register her radio and tv sets. The postman an me laughed and he just said „Well, we do what I would do normally“ and he wrote „DECEASED - RETURN TO SENDER“ on the envelope.:lol:

Which settings are you using? I mainly use 7-2-2 sometimes I'll use 7-3-2, brake balance makes a difference as well.

That's awesome news! Just dont give up as it will take a few weeks to build up the hand, foot and eye coordination and develop smooth and accurate inputs.

Consider starting with something like 5-3-5

Sensitivity 7. I don't remember what the other two are. I'll try it with lower sensitivity.

Ah ok, cool. This is what I have mine set too, I thought controller sensitivity had to do with a DS4 so I turned it off/down, maybe I should look into that one lol.

Congrats on getting the rig all set up, do you think you are going to like it better? :)

Given enough time, I could see liking it better, as long as I can get to where I'm faster. That's my only reason for switching. Right away, it's obvious that my controller recovers from oversteer more quickly. It could be that lowering the steering wheel sensitivity will help, because I get the impression that it's turning the wheels a bit more than I want it to. Figuring out the brake pedal will be my other endeavor. I definitely don't like the FFB. I don't see the benefit. It makes it feel like the car doesn't have power steering.

@Oshawa-Joe Thank you

A couple of things that may help. I like high sensitivity, but have torque low (maybe 4?). I had the same problem with the brakes. I use ABS default for now. I felt like I couldn't get enough pressure. I finally tried them without the rubber stop block...no good because max braking comes as maybe 80% of pedal travel without it. Then I shaved the blocks lenght with a razor by maybe 2mm. That helped, but may have been un-necessary. I have since discovered that the cars stop MUCH faster with less pressure. My continuing problem is trying to find that max braking sweet spot since I don't seem to have much feel for the braking. Definitely try braking lightly. I think you'll be pleasantly suprised.
PS. Any hints I give that help cannot be used to beat my times or beat me in a race!:irked:

@Oshawa-Joe Thank you

I don’t like the FFB on high either, but I do like to be able to feel where there weight of the car is(side to side anyways), especially in street cars, so having some FFB is nice. Plus, in theory, your wheel will last longer because it’s not working as hard. Brakes are another story, I removed the rubber brake mod because I prefer travel to pressure, my left foot has never used a real brake before so it wasn’t used to using pressure to stop the car. Are you left or right foot braking?

I have a feeling you’ll be quite a bit faster than before once you get the hang out it. :)

Hold on to your hats. Next weeks races are up:

Race A: Lago Maggiore Centre - N100 Provided Car - 6 laps
Race B: Nürburgring Nordschleife - N300 One Make Car from Garage - 1 lap
Race C: Mount Panorama - Gr.3 - 9 laps

So no Japan based tracks but also nothing not seen recently!
Another week with no racing for me then 👎👎👎👎

Race B: Nürburgring Nordschleife - N300 One Make Car from Garage - 1 lap

Surely this Nurb event will be a good race if you can separate the wheat from the chaff in the first few turns? I will defo try this once just to see how it is :D:tup:

I was doing it with left foot braking. I was also doing it barefoot. Not sure if shoes make a difference.
I've seen videos of people wearing gloves, too. Don't really know what that's about. Maybe I need to go shopping for a helmet and a 5-point harness. Oh, and a fire suit. :lol:

That’s cool, left foot seems to have an advantage as long as your not using the clutch, I guess it’s back to standard foot placement in that case? I don’t have a shifter yet so I don’t know.

I’ve wondered about the gloves as well, I don’t find I’ve wanted for or needed a pair yet. I did end up picking up a pair of swimming shoes from Walmart for $9 though to have some sort of a thin sole under my foot, the cheapest racing shoes I could find were well over $100, eff that. I raced in socks for a long time on my DFGT with plastic pedals but my new pedals have metal faces and my foot would get a little sore from rubbing on them after a while in just socks, everyone’s different though so YMMV. Good luck with it man, I hope it helps you enjoy the game more if nothing else. :)

I wear a pair of wool gloves. Thin disposable ones. Mainly because it's cold. But in the summer it helps with moisture. I guess it helps a bit with FFB. And I'm not sure if it's all the G29s but mine has seams between my thumbs and first finger which sort of stick out.

I have since discovered that the cars stop MUCH faster with less pressure.
Mind you, i'm nowhere near being a reference on the subject, i've been racing on gts and a g29 since last december but, lately i've been able to better my times a bit and the most important thing for me was to realise that i didn't need to smash the brake pedal on every corner. Smooth modulation is much more efficient. Still have a lot to learn and practice but i already see a difference with the smooth inputs.

I went back and forth between 1 and 10 on the sensitivity scale over a few laps and can’t really tell much of a difference, maybe if I try it in a rally car it will more obvious. I just want to know which end of the scale is which now.

Edit: Even in a rally car I can’t tell which end of the scale gives you more road feel, it doesn’t seem to do much at all.

Edit: So reading that link @Oshawa-Joe provided confirms that 10 is max feel and 1 is max dampening of feel. That’s all I wanted to know, thanks very much @Oshawa-Joe :cheers:

I think that's why Sven ended up qualifying, last time. The first mile, or so is like trying to fight your way through a Tokyo subway station.

On another note, I just had a wicked 1 on 1 F1 battle with a guy on Suzuka. Man, can you ever fly around a track in an F1 car on RSS tires, that was fun. we had an equally good race on Catalunya right before this one too. :D

On ffb with the wheels I have used I always run 2-10.
controllers sensitivity doesn’t seem to affect the wheel.
On the wheels I’ve used 4 seems really heavy on the torque.
Gr3 at 2 torque feels nice and tight to me. I’m not trying to wear mys of out! If I were gonna suggest something it wouldn’t be 1 1 definitely.
