I got a question.

Will it hurt my DR or SR if I leave pre race?

I’m finding out and I know its been discussed that if you are not at least top 5 or finish top 5 (in my experience) you lose DR.

I raced DTS2 two more times (I’m B/S 99). The first race I was placed at P10 with guys or gals that where at least a second faster than me (standing at 1:48.4). I finished the race gaining P9. I had no chance of catching everyone esle unless they die the chicane. I lost 300 that race.

Second race was worse because I started P9 I got to P7 but got knocked off track by someone who didn’t brake in time and I fell to last place.

In both races I lost 406 DR points. I started to get fussy and left.

I run into the same crowd, especially those races I mentioned. Usually I try to avoid that and I want to in the future by leaving pre race.

I gained 11k during my vacation and I don’t wanna lose it because of where I’m placed.
You can quit pre-race without losing anything. I've done it twice when I wanted to race Sven, but didn't see him in the pre-race lineup, and didn't really care about doing that race, otherwise.

If you unplug your internet connection before the 1 minute countdown starts, it won't hurt your numbers. If you tell the game you want to cancel your entry, it will.

I quit during the race at Nurburgring, last week, because I got overly frustrated. It cost me 3,300+ DR points and 19 SR points. :ouch:

Overtake is so weird. When you press it, there is a delay until you can see it being activated on the onboard steering wheel. And the car does not feel any different, you cannot feel anything, no surge of acceleration or nothing. But I do notice my lap times are faster when I do use it. And why the hell is it not available in qualifying? That is the only way we can learn how best to use it. SMH>>>

It’s not available in qualifying because it would absolutely destroy the top times, which I actually agree with.

On another note, it’s too much tire wear to be fun, so I’m probably gonna pass on it this week. Shame, as these cars are blasts to drive.

Two races so far: B and A.

For B i did not qualify but advanced quickly in the field reaching 10th by the end of lap 1. Had some really clean and competitive racing (just two minor bumps and an arrow down - both my fault). It‘s so nice to see people serving their penalties and in the end having all the red dots in the lower half of the field. I finished 10th.

For A I accidentally qualified. What a mess! The start was messed up due to some car stopping at the countdown, blocking all other cars and once the green flag fell the last three drivers in the field passed me and some other drivers. However this quickly equalized when those three took themselves out at the short downhill straight leading to the Multi-Kink-Righthander. I was on 8th then until the start of lap 4. A french was behind me more than a lap so I decided to let him pass. I switched my left turn light on and after about 3s I went of the throttle. Of course he did not think „Oh, what a friendly german!“. Instead he seemed to have thought „The Boche breaks! I‘ll kick him off the track so he will spin till he reaches Rijeka!“. Well, I finished 11th then.

Way to improve over the next seven days...

race a is fantastic. i really like this combo. so far i got my opt down to a 52.9xx and i know i can get into the low 52.xxx if i get my timing and line down for the hairpin and last two turns. i am trying to be on the same line as @Pigems replay up there, but i am not as smooth, or skilled i believe.

had two races with mixed results. the first one was great, i started 2nd and followed at between .5 and just over a sec and had a sweet drag race to the line for a second place finish. next i started in fourth and lost it on two different occasions trying not to hit "faster" people who could not keep the car in control. i ended in 9th. i was surprised to be the one who can handle the car, maybe i am getting better.

I tried some Race B at Maggiore against my usual decision and it went really well. I raced and qualified with a 1.59:8 in the RCZ. I was placed top 6 in mostly DR B with a few A/Ds lobbies. I expect that will likely change over the week once more people have adjusted to the track.

The first race was uneventful and almost the same as if I were running hot laps. The driver in front was ahead by 2.5 - 3 seconds and the one behind by 4 seconds. Started 4th and finished 4th.

Next race I started P2. P1 had a low 1.58 QT so I didn't expect to make it competitive for him and I was right, he ended with a 4 second lead with me ending P2. The guy behind me was closing in on the last lap :scared: so I only finished ahead by a second.

I find going downhill the trickiest part. I'm almost sure I can get down faster but I've played it safe because losing control and being slapped with a penalty doesn't sound fun.

I'm complete trash on the normal layout so this was a pleasant surprise.

Appreciate the explanation. They were carrying the penalties for quite a few corners before the penalty zone, and I was ready to breeze past them in the zone so was surprised when I didn't catch them.
I got a penalty at the hairpin (tried to take the outside line to avoid punting, someone else got the same idea but, didn't see me i guess . .... Pushed in the sand .... 4 sec penalty ! Anyway ... ) I tried to serve the penalty right away (i was last ;)...) and i couldn't do it. Sure i was gonna be slowed down in the penalty zone ... nope ! Had to wait 'till the next lap.

What Brake Balance do you guys have on the SF car?

I had it on +3 and now on +5... I It's the only non FWD car I can handle on +5
I have it on 0, actually. The car is super stable and I feel quite confident on the brakes, so I haven’t played around with it too much.

In the race, I also went through the hairpin and the final chicane in 3rd gear, which helps a lot with wheelspin and putting the power down a lot more indiscriminately, particularly if you run a bit wide out of the latter. The car has enough grunt that I’ve found that in the grand scheme of things, I’d rather sacrifice a bit of ultimate lap time than struggle with putting the power down in a lower gear.

Wow, this thread moves fast on a Monday. What's this about an overtake button? What does it do, how long does it last. Is this a real thing? Sort of sounds like an April fools joke

I won't be racing yet. I better try out the car before entering the track, after painting it. It all has to wait until I'm back home. Yet what's this mystery overtake button. More buttons argh. Just got used to MT.

I really like the car for race A. I really don't like the track for race A :ouch: I wish it was Big Willow or Brands!

I checked my race history for last week, oof, ouch, no wonder I feel so tired. Sunday hasn't fully updated yet. I'll do some statistics later, avg start position should be an interesting indicator of how many qualified during the week. I only got the 'coveted' 20th start position twice last week.

Been waiting for this all day lol :gtpflag:

Yes the car is beautifully balanced but I find myself struggling a lot through the hairpin.. I have tried 1st, 2nd and 3rd gear, and it it still felt slow.. The +5 brake bias helped a lot with the rotation of the car and I don't at all suffer from oversteer as I thought I would...

Thanks for your input man...

There ais no valid reason to leave a race. 1s faster is not much and following someone faster will teach you more than quitting and waiting for an easier race.
Racing for DR gain is stupid, as your DR rank exist only to place you with people of similar abilities. If everyone is faster than you, why should you get into the faster category ?
If you just have a problem with this track, then train.
On a side note, i think having one or two more DR rank would be a bit better for matchmaking

I wouldn't worry too much about qualifying times, and the longer and more technical the track, the less I would worry. I ran a bunch of races at the Nord 24 from the back, and had a bunch of top 6 finishes and some podiums, and even a win. When I finally qualified I did a 8:24.xxx, yet I podiumed in a room where the top 10 were all below that time. Even on a short race I think you'll find that race pace is usually 1 second or more below the Q time. Often the fastest lap is only equal to the#10 qualifying time, or worse.

I look at DR like I used to look at finish position when I was racing. You end up where you belong. I've been around 20,000 DR points for a long time. If I had more time to run laps, and race, I'm sure I could make DR-A, but with the time I have right now, I'm a B at about 20k. I've just touched 25K, and have been down to about 10k, but usually I stay at 20K+/- 2K. SR has much more to do with who you race. Don't drive yourself crazy worrying about DR. Drive, Race, Have fun!

Edit: I just re-read your post. You gained 11K DR during vacation and you don't want to loose it. That would only be reasonable if you can spend the same amount of time playing that you did on vacation. Last week I didn't have a lot of time to play, so I spent all of my play time on race C. I did about 10 laps in A, just to put up a time, and ran about 15 laps on B last night, again just to put up a time. I only raced on C from the back with no Q, then last night I spent about 45 minutes to get my qualifying time down to 8:24, raced 2 races, and I was done for the week. Trying to maintain any level of DR takes seat time, and if you don't have that time, DR will suffer. Even the aliens wouldn't be able to maintain their DR numbers if they weren't putting in an insane amount of time in the game.

Thanks for the replies. I guess its me being fussy. I definitely won’t be able to put up the time like I did on vacation. The DR got to me although it won’t matter since I’m in SR.S. I did get those DR points when I got demoted to B.

I’ll just suck it up and play.

What’s the best strategy for race c? I think I put in a decent quali time at 1:39.783 but don’t want to ruin a (hopefully) good starting position with a bad strategy :boggled:

I'm usually terrible in Formula cars so I am going to stay away from Race C until I feel I can hang.

Man - first world problems - I'm currently 9th in Q times for Race B. Ergo, there are 8 people in the entire western hemisphere capable of starting ahead of me. I think "what are the chances one of those guys will be in this race?" I take the Ferrari, which admittedly, is a bout a second slower than it should be for this race, thinking "aww, it'll be fine."

I start second

Luckily, I had the Ferrari going fast enough and when first place made a mistake on the last lap, I squeaked past and held it to the line.

2/2 :D

Wait, it's only the Honda? C'mon PD

Yep, I was going to use one on my main and the other on my GTP account but nope, Honda only. :(

Been away from the daily races for ages, couldn't resist the SF19.

1:36.104 for now.

Won't get a chance to try again till tomorrow night but definitly aiming for a 36.0/35.9xx

I saw that, top lap by you. Also by all the others under 1'36.5 really, my optimum is a 1'36.6 but I'm not sure I'll get it unless I spend hours setting a time instead of racing.

Just use the overtake to overtake, pit in the middle (lap 6) or maybe 7 if someone is really being an arse and then they pit in front of you on lap 6. Watch out for false starts too, you got to hold the brake until the lights go off otherwise you'll ruin your race before you even start, trust me I know. ;)

Also watch out for people braking in Degner 1,enough do to cause a mess, it's bizarre. There's a few brake checkers out there too, one even gave away a 3rd place to try to stop me getting 2nd earlier and then intentionally took me out afterwards because he got a penalty for it. :irked:

Oh and don't forget to map the overtake button somewhere, I also stupidly did this today (on my 2nd account) too and it's much harder to clear cars without it.

I don't know if it's the "best" strategy but i go for 6/6. You just have to put a bit of fuel for the remaining laps and after 6 laps i start to feel the wear on the tires a bit.

Did 5-6 races this morning and so far i've managed to climb up to 4th and 5th place on races where and i was punted and had to recover from last.

Thanks, same to you. Me too man, I got it down to 52.0 but then I lost it and couldn't come close again lol. It’s funny how that works eh, you can get on a good run of laps and then it’s just gone. :)
It's like you're about to cross the finish line with a record time on the 100m run and then you trip.

By the way, come join me in the 1:51 Club! :D

@05XR8 Thanks for the info, I hope it’s not because the W08 drives me nuts because of that.

Why PD, Why? You give this car a SQ gearbox for the live event but not for daily A, Why?

I'm on a DS4, but the shifts are quick. Not super slow like the FuguZ. May post that race. Was a fair exchange between me and the pole sitter. Though they did brake way early for the first esses.

Wow, hectic start was an understatement lol
Yeah, I 'll post the rest of the race. Had some good overtakes. I found the exit of the final chicane to be a good spot. Some players misjudged and being slow out of there, I just pass on the outside with the magic button.

As for the OT button, I mapped it to L3, to keep L1 for rear view.

One lap qualy for each race. I'll qualy again this afternoon.:

Race A: 1:53.994
Race B: 2:03.349(Atenza. Next, will be the RC F.)
Race C: 1:40.294
