I was in that race. Way, way behind everyone. One of 3 D drivers with a lot A and B and one S. I got lapped. 17th.

Next race, I'm getting better, finished 16th. QT down to 1:45.866

Just quit a race in the pits. Bad room, too much punting, penalties not issued, try again next race. I got better things to do than sit out a wreck fest. It seems lower DR gets you 'fairer' treatment by the penalty system anyway.
Yeah ... I was with you in that race (the second one in a row) first one was not that bad but the one you are mentionning ... Got pushed wide in turn one. I had the outside line, the space, the momentum and just when i was going to get a good run for the outside line ... Pushed wide in the sand and end up losing 7 or 8 positions. Same place you lost it the race before.

I drive with different account thats has poor rating to learn the joke of class A and Class C. The daily race this week isnt good for me. Hope next week be better.

The competition is so tight at Maggiore, all I have is a 1:59.0 with clear room for improvement but I can't see myself getting anywhere close to the 1:56 I need to be competitive :scared:

Also (a bit off topic), do y'all remember the video I uploaded on Friday? Well... YouTube copystruck me for it because it contains game BGM  :banghead:

I am enjoying the a race so much i haven't even done one lap for b yet, i won't do the c race. Those cars are way outta my league. I really wish we got more combos like this instead of the fiat and mini over and over and over. Slow cars can be fun to race, but as a change of pace not the regular.

Three races this morning and i am off my pace from yesterday for some reason. Still having good luck with great races though. Have been starting 4 or 5 and have finished up or even each time. Although i have no complaints about the racing this morning, we are certainly not treating these 12 million dollar Ferrari's they way they should be lol lots of trading paint, hard tight door to door, bumper to bumper racing I LOVE IT!!!!

There's slow then there's stupid slow, there's no fun in stupid slow.

What's your qualy time and race pace, we're usually pretty close.

Average is better than me. :)

For references later in the week, 5 laps of A and B, 20 or so of C

A- 1:58.840
B- 2:06.024
C- 1:47.708

I try not to be disheartened at being so slow. It works sometimes.
I'm definitely far from an expert, but at race A, I think you should be able to lower that time by adding some TCS and CSA. It's certainly not the easiest car to handle.

I set up a second account just so I can hot lap and try to get a low spot on the boards (top 100 is my goal in the region) and also race from the back with no qualifying. Unlike IRL, in the game I tend to push and go too fast (and go off) when hot lapping, I do it on purpose to find the limits, and turn in and braking points. One thing I know from the game, and real life, is that the brake and turn in points, and even the line to some extent, are a lot different it you're 10 seconds off the pace. That's why I push so hard. My second full lap in the SF19 I kept it to the floor in 6th and dove for the apex of T1. I went off (with speed) at the start of T2, but now knew that T1 could be taken wide open...it's just a matter of when to brake to get it slowed for T2. I did that because my first lap I drove off of the inside of T1 and realized that I could go through there really fast, and wanted to test it out. Even though I'm nowhere near up to speed yet with this combo, I think I'm significantly faster than anyone I've raced yet into T1, just because I know what I know.

As to the racing from the back, that taught me another important lesson, which I need to keep reminding myself of, because of my balls-to-the wall mentality in racing games. Dealing with traffic you find yourself backing off of the throttle, and rolling into the turns slower than you might otherwise. Then you notice that this allows you to get a much better drive, you have more speed on the straights to pass, and your laptimes are much better than you would think from the relaxed pace you seem to be driving.

Keep this in mind next time you enter a race and see people in front of you that are 1-2 seconds faster. They may have done a 36 when you can only manage a 38, but you do 3 39's in the race and it will beat 2 37's and a 45 all day long. I've podiumed from 15th place and never made a race pass, only went by when someone screwed up...and they almost always do.

Okay, I'll get off my box and give someone else a turn now.:D

Only my 2nd race this week. Did Race A again. And for the 2nd time in a row bumped passed and then given an orange warning. While I was forced off track to slow down.

Wouldn't say it's dirty. It's just that the warning is definitely being assigned to the wrong car and encourages this behavior. Plus the other car loses no momentum while I lose a gear. I finished with white SR. The car who passed me finished blue. I finished losing places, the other car spun out somewhere before the finish.

Also the car who finished first was jumping around due to a bad connection. This is the 2nd race in 2 weeks I've been in where all the other cars just backed off for fear of unpredictability and let the lag cars win.

Confirmed, no stop is no go. You're locked to medium tires, so all it invites is a lot of bumping from behind in the second part. I quit in lap 9, too many SR Downs from impatient drivers, never mind.

I usually never quit races, yet the penalty system just keeps getting worse. It's better to leave than stick it out.

Oh and you get a false start even if you never press the gas at the start. The car starts rolling by itself if you don't hold the brake

And again, got bump off in the hairpin, other car who dove on my inside got nothing. It's getting really discouraging when even the clear cases don't work anymore.

Next race, lap 8, it's going well. Suddenly the game stutters, sound as well, disconnected. smh.

One more attempt at a decent race on Suzuka. Then I've got to go. It might be a good week for Elite Dangerous.

So far my qualifying best is a 53.026 and i am running pretty much right there as an average for race pace. Laps are between 52.7 and 53.2 generally under competition. I know i can get into the 52s just pushing to hard this morning i think.

that's really solid pace. I am a high 53 and racing in high 54's. So much momentum in this car so as soon as you race you lose it all.

Are you using 2nd gear anywhere other than the hair pin? For Q laps.

I was all ready to jump into Race C last night before I realised it was a Honda one make (peak PD right there), so I had a go at A to start. Won my first attempt after following a Finnish guy for ~2 laps, coming out of the last hairpin he lost it and squirmed all over the place, I waltzed past.

The next three got progressively worse until I rage quit fourth attempt, I think I was in 5th when I lost it just before the multi-apex right hander and I'd had enough. I don't remember my qualifying time off hand but I was running 1:53.0 in the optimum during races.

Eventually I bought a Honda SF19 and ended up finishing 6th after about four practice laps. These cars are so much fun. If you use one of them in a race without adding a livery you should immediately be given a ten second penalty.

Nope. I figuerd that out pretty quick on day one. Managed to stay in 3rd gear using auto, while the guy in front hit 2nd for the last two, and i ran him down. I am just not being smooth enough, trying to hard to be at max speed instead of just trying to be silky smooth aroud that hairpin. I think that is where i am losing the most

Well that‘s nothing new. Happened to me in the Fiat 500 in Suzuka once since it‘s a slight downhill section. I also remember a car stuttering slowly forward when full on brakes while full on throttle (DS4).

I wish there was an info dump of Sport Mode stats on specific cars. For example, how many wins do I have in Gr.3?

This info isn’t available anywhere right?

Yeah coming out of the hairpin is crucial, if you shift up to early the shift take fooooooorevvvveeerrrrr!!

You’re right though, smooth is fast in this car, very small corrections, lots of trail braking and partial throttle, it’s a tricky car to get around quickly in. But it’s nice that we get to drive it this week, because I’ll never spend 12,500,000 on a car in this game. It was bad enough that I had to buy both SF cars yesterday because I stupidly bought the Toyota first without looking.

On another note, why are the SF cars in their own dealer instead of being at their actual dealers, Honda and Toyota? The W08 is in the Mercedes dealer isn’t it?

That Ferrari drives pretty much like the Shelby that we used at Willow. Maybe a bit more tail-happy, though.
That segmented turn near the end sucks. It seems like there oil on that part of the track.

I was actually thinking the same thing yesterday, it’s very similar in how it drives to the Mustang, it just spins out/breaks the tires free a little easier. It’s a fun car though once you get the hang of it. :)

You started the race with something like 2 red bars if i remember well. Lots of stuttering in this one too..,.

That's odd, it has been reporting nothing but 4 green bars on my screen. Disconnects are nothing new, the game suddenly hanging with the sound going like a skipping CD, that I had not experienced yet.

Anyway, I'll be going for Elite Dangerous tonight. There's no fair racing anymore. You drive carefully and clean, next guy just rams you off and doesn't even get a penalty for putting you in the sand.
G5zqB4H.gif

Overtake button denied, by anti overtake button.
Then get punted, no penalty, blue S for punter.

Plus from 20th to 9th in lap 1, chaos everywhere. Lap 1 is not racing, just playing the slot machines

Just had this beauty happen to me:

If you can't notice I got bumped in Degner 1 by the guy behind. I get it, he was really close to me and catching, but it's still his responsibility to not ram me. In what world do I deserve a penalty for using my normal braking point and getting rammed by an overambitious driver? I'm not even bothered by him not getting a penalty (even though he did cause that), but of all the possible outcomes there I get the only one? Really?

If the penalty system can't get extremely trivial things like that right then it shouldn't exist as it does. Only dish out for egregious rams. Or maybe don't use the most trivial penalty calculation system, that'd be a nice start. But until they can get it right, this stuff really shouldn't be happening to anyone. Completely destroyed my race and really rattled me.

I am actually having so much fun driving it that i might buy it.... have all exept the 10mill plus cars and am sitting on 12.5 lol

Damm, I didn’t realize I was talking to a High Rolla! ;)

That’s brings me to another question, do you guys all have the entire game beat? Like D School, Missions, Track Exp and all of GT League? Or do you just grind for cash when it’s needed? I really want to get the entire game beat but GT League is so bloody boring, I’m almost done intermediate finally but I’m dreading the longer races that the next level has.

Yeah, I was in that race. The first lap was a complete joke. That first car that got pushed wide in the Esses there is cause someone banged me from the side (3 wide) and shoved me into them. Felt bad and they might've thought it was my fault but I had absolutely no control over it and was only a passenger.

Also posted my stupid penalty above and then also got rammed in the final chicane on the last lap, but by then I was so out of it and didn't care anyway. What a disaster that race is capable of being.

Good job to avoid all of that though. I saw you up in 9th after lap one and thought how the hell did you manage that cause I remember seeing you started last.

I've done everything except the GT league races that are too long. Especially the endurance races. Personally, I would get zero enjoyment out of doing a race that takes over an hour, maybe more. I don't know how long they take, but I aint doing em.

Does this limit the SR or DR downside or both?

No, it only limits being a hazard for the few seconds auto drive takes over. Your car doesn't disappear straight away.

I tried it 3 times after being knocked down to the back of the field. Avoiding fighting/overtaking.
Worked out OK, but was a couple of seconds slower - and only if you manage to drive error free.

It works out ok if other cars drive error free as well. I kept getting bumped in corners by cars with fresh tires. I'm not blocking them, they can pass easy on the inside or after or before the corner. However SR Down every corner, good bye.

I get your annoyance, but to be fair to the guy behind, there is no braking needed there. You can actually go through that flat out in 6th sometimes if you hit it perfect, but it's usually a slight lift, back on the gas, then brake hard and 3 quick downshifts to 3rd for Degner 2. He probably didn't expect to have to brake for you.

On the plus side, if that's the way you usually go through there, you can check it out in practice and pick up some time there.

Edit: I almost rear ended someone there early, and started backing off way early so that I had a lot of space in front and could take the corner at speed. I actually passed someone once on the outside between D1&2, but I wouldn't recommend it. It was one of those "Oh 🤬 moments and I thought I was going in the sand but stayed on track enough to get it slowed for D2. More avoidance than pass.

That’s cool, I’m pretty close now as well, everything is beat except professional series and the endurance events, I’ve got 2 series left in intermediate as well, all else is done. Other then credits I’ve gotten pretty much zero enjoyment from GT League all together, without the prize cars at the end of each series it’s just a grind for credits. I miss the prize cars!

I’ll eventually beat everything just for the sake of having it beat, it bothers me that I don’t have it all done yet.
