Yeah, Pole Position, but it is a big disadvantage, because after the start in front everybody behind you is in the slipstream...

I never thought I'd see the day when starting pole was a big disadvantage.

Granted, I only raced once on it but the strong slipstream ruined it for me. Feels like I had a magnet on my back at all times. Make a mistake? No problem. Cars ahead will boost you back into position. It reminds me of Mario Kart where if you're behind, you'll roll better items to help you keep up with the rest. Maybe an overreaction but I really wanted to like this race.

I'll give it another shot but I don't know, feels too arcade-like.

Hmm attendance is low. Trying a morning Tokyo race, 8:40, A to D DR, S to B SR, 11 total.

Too easy, draft up and stay within 1 sec of the leader, then pass on final straight.

SR is harsh as DR.A in daily A. I had a red S for that race, didn't have a clue why so I went over the replay. I got bumped from behind once in T1 with SR Down as result and pushed into the wall in lap 2 for which the other car got 5 sec (for wall contact after he went through me, not for bumping me apparently, white S for him) however I still got the green SR up arrow for that sector. Still -1 SR for the race for 1 SR Down arrow, jeez.

Easy to win, even easier to lose SR. It will be funny when more people catch on you have to be behind coming out of the final turn

Starting 3rd of 10 in the daily C. Player levels are low. SR down to D.

I went down to 7th at the start, then got into first by lap 2 from cars going off.
YAsd.jpg

I won with a 24 second lead, lapping all but the top 4...

My best lap was only 1:14.6. I was experimenting with brake balance. -3 feels better, -5 is too much stress on the front tires. I have gotten faster laps with brake balance 0 but that might have involved drafting. -3 felt better after -5 anyway.

Ok, second race I matched my old lap record without drafting, brake balance -3. 1:14.1. That race I finished 2nd despite getting bumped off at the start (what else) and going wide once which was fine, since the faster car could pass me without hitting me for a 3rd time. In the end I was 15 sec behind first, 14 sec in front of 3rd. It would be very boring if it wasn't for the constant struggle to keep the car pointing the right way.

Enough for now, SR safely at 99, DR going dangerously up.

Tried race b once this morning, and i was 3 sec off pace compared to the leaders. Need to find some speed before i try that again. I would really like the a race if it wasnt for the slipstream, i don't race in gta because of ridiculous slipstream, why would i do it here. When being a better or faster driver is nullified by the slipstream it ruins the fun for me, weather i am in the lead or the chase...

Slipstream is not bad unless its on strong. Its a whole lot better than gta SS lmao. I always turn that off.

I did knock my QT in Race B down to 1:31.4 in the Vantage. I almost had a 1:30 but I messed up the last corner. I was trying to do it again but I was too tired.

I tried racing in race B. Got screwed in T2. Someone hit me and I lost all focus.

SR down to D.
...

How much racing did it take you to get from D to 99? With a higher DR, do you both gain and lose SR more easily?

I've noticed SR is too lenient at low driver ratings. People can basically constantly deliberately collide with people to overtake and remain at S rating. But it sounds like it maybe becomes too harsh at high driver ratings.

I did my first three A races last night, and I've done one, this morning. Using my Murph account, I've started in the back. I've learned a couple things. It definitely isn't about who's fastest. :odd: My Q time on my main account is faster than everybody in every one of the four races I've done. Doesn't matter, though. My finishes, so far have been 4th, 7th, 6th, and 2nd. In the last race, I had the lead twice, but not when it mattered. I'm learning to back off when needed and avoid a lethal wall penalty. You just aren't gonna be able to use you qualifying lines. So far, I'm having fun with the battling. 👍

Finally got my Q time under 1:13 in race C .. 1:12:590 with an op of 1:11:804. Man, is it hard to string all the sectors together without any mistakes ?! The slightest miss costs a lot !

Just understand that when you break 12.3 that means I will end up costing PD at least another billion dollars by smashing more cars trying to beat it.

Okay so I did a second Race A and finished P3 from a P4 start. QT was 3:01.9 in a lobby with DR Bs and a few As.

L1 was very clean leading into T1 where I expected chaos. Everyone respected each other. I had dropped to P6 after T1 although I passed two people with wall penalties along the twisty straight. On L2, I was rammed into at T1 but I don't think he intended to hit me; probably misjudged his speed since you're usually going along at 115 - 120mph with slipstream. I managed to recover (thank you, slipstream) and passed him leading towards the twisty straight. Almost passsed P1 and P2 who were neck and neck on the last straight. I finished within a 100ms of P1.

I think I need to approach the race with a different attitude and just accept the slipstream since it does affect everyone.

This is what race A can look like if you're blessed with some good fortune. Everybody else made some mistakes. After taking the lead at turn 1, I was hoping I could pull away with some good driving. 👍 ....... nope 👎 I hit the rear-view button in this clip to show the gap I had coming out of the final turn on lap 1. I believe it was about 3.4 seconds. That, apparently is still close enough to catch the slipstream. :boggled: I show the rear-view again approaching turn 1, lap two. They're right there. :scared: Not sure what they were thinking, but they went sliding past me, and it was pretty smooth sailing after that. :D

Again, I won't be expecting to have this result very often at race A. Got pretty lucky. :sly:

Just got home from work and logged on to take another crack at the F1500. I see Mr. Fraga has come out to play in the Daily Races this week, he scored a 9.4 too, damm. I wonder if he will be racing this week too, it’d be pretty cool to see him in a race for a few seconds before he disappeared off into the distance.

Edit: I’m finding some time, I just haven’t figured out how to string it together yet. It’s coming though, I’m not doing nearly as many donuts today. :)

Edit 2: Broke the 12 second barrier!! 3rd gear tried to kill me in the final corner but I saved it somehow. Now to try and break the 11 second barrier. :)

2 races, 2 wins so far at Red Bull Ring in the Atenza. Not really due to my own brilliance, but other people’s mistakes and penalties. I did manage to get my qualy barely into the 1:28’s, but I need to shave some more off. Finally made it back to A+ with those results, it’s been awhile.

Goodbye to the days when P5 might still gain me DR! I’m sure I’ll be back soon.

Scratch that, I just checked the world leaderboard and he clocked a 1:09.085. :scared: That's .424 clear of 2nd place. A whole new level of alien.

Yesterday I won a race for 65 points and I didn't even reach A+ until a few hours later, so... yeah  I imagine that if I log in at 7-8am and win a race my DR gain will be in the single digits.

It blows my mind how Igor Fraga is almost 1 second faster than the second place driver in the Americas region and almost .5 seconds faster than the next driver in the world on the Brands Hatch Daily Race leaderboard. I honestly didn't think having as much real world racing experience that he has would contribute to being so much faster than everyone else. I know if I had the time to put a lap in that I would be at least 2.3 seconds slower than him. I guess I gotta practice more to make up for the "being too poor to drive rental karts, let alone actual cars" and close the gap

That aint nuthin. It's always been the Copen that separates the men from the boys.

I view this week's race A and C as simplistic and shoddy respectively. Therefore, I vowed never to start in either of them. That means race B this week became the only one I started in, where my highest finish was in third place.

Sorry, I meant matchmaking went down to include SR.D to get 10 people together for the daily C race. Not enough people playing the game.

Low SR gets a boost in points earned, upto 2.3x I believe it was at SR.E which tapers off until you reach 50 SR. With the right race you can go from SR.1 to SR.B in one clean race. Some C races are worth 26 SR, so it is possible to go from SR.1 to SR.99 in 3 races.

Low SR also gets less SR deducted for contacts, more bumping is allowed at low SR.

Higher DR gets higher time penalties for contact than lower DR. when a lower DR player hits a higher DR player it's more likely that the higher DR players gets the blame. A lower DR player can bump a higher DR player off the road and the higher DR gets SR Down instead of the lower DR player receiving a penalty. It depends on the force of contact, it's no free punting ticket. However when a higher DR player bumps a lower DR player off with the same amount of force, the higher DR will end up with a time penalty, usually higher than what a lower DR player might get.

D/E do whatever you want.
A+/S drive on eggshells.

Since player count is low you almost always see mixed DR in rooms which is annoying since while the pace might be very similar at high DR.B, low DR.A, the penalties aren't. Early morning and late night player count is so low, lower SR players are added to fill a room, so then you have an even more unequal mix in penalty treatment.

I still have PTSD from RBR with its ridiculous 8 sec penalty for nicking an inch off the inside for T1 while people freely drive into the next county on the outside, then give you a 5 sec penalty when they hit you from behind on their way to their outer orbit. It might be better now, my memories are still too fresh.

So simplistic races for me this week :)

There's definitely a 1:08 laptime possible at Brands. The second half of my lap wasn't anything special, so I'm not surprised Igor has just casually done a 1:09 flat

Just had a chance to race Winnie. He drove by me as if I was on a Sunday cruise on the boulevard. I'll get you and those meddling kids

Keith.

Good to see you out there man! Haha, I was all proud of winning two in a row then outbraked myself like 5 times in that race, got a huge penalty and got humbled. Just got P2 in the next race and gained some SR back, whew! One more for me I think, until later.
