I'll be aiming for something in the 3:25/26/27 range, I think. Maybe a little faster. I very rarely drive Gr.1 cars, so I need to practice as much as I can before I race. Thankfully, I'm not in work until Thursday.

I don’t do GR1 much either. Similar target range I was aiming at.

No work until Thursday. Le Mans on GTS. Sounds like you’re sorted! :)

Excited to try the Gr. 1 race tomorrow, it'll be my first time with that group/track combo. I've had the game since launch but don't play Sport mode much, so I'm rank D currently. Hoping it goes well and I don't get rammed by the trolls in that rank... :grumpy::lol:

That's some good info. Do you have a chart for FM power output/fuel burn percentage for each of the 6 levels? I feel like I've seen a chart for that before.

It's a sticky on the front page
https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/gran-turismo-sport-fuel-consumption-list-tire-usage.372334/

Fuel Map consumption and power differences:
@1 - 100% power/100% range
@2 - 96% power/112% range
@3 - 92% power/123% range
@4 - 88% power/135% range
@5 - 84% power/146% range
@6 - 80% power/158% range

@rex1825 did all the hard work, but the actual range per car will have changed by now and changes every time bop is adjusted.

I was doing some races at Suzuka last night, and here's what happened:

Race 1: qualified 2nd. I was in the Genesis, and pole was in the Mustang. We created a big gap from the rest of the pack, and I was behind 1st place for a long time. I ended up forgetting about the slipstream approaching the turn before the chicane, and I hang out on the green runoff for a bit too long... and I ended up going to spin class. 2nd and 3rd caught up, and I finished 4th.

Race 2: More or less same lobby, but this time, pole was able to create a 3 second gap. I couldn't catch up.

Race 3: I was pole now, most of the lobby was the same. In the final lap, 2nd place was on my tail. Approaching the last chicane, 2nd place moves to the right. I BARELY brake a tiny bit too late and have to force myself to slide. Unfortunately, this happened with 2nd place as well, and he ends up tapping me off track as he was sliding as well. I was able to get back on track. He got a .5 second penalty (probably a corner cut?) But then suddenly gained another 3 second penalty (likely from the incident). I finished in 1st.

Overall, some good races at a track I am bad at, and I gained 1000 DR bucks.

Yes. That's what I was talking about. I just forgot where it was. Thank you.
So, if I'm understanding it correctly, a car on your list with a 4.0 lap range, running on FM3 will make it 4.92 laps. Is that correct?

In theory yep. Depends on the track through, lower FM can mean more benefit from drafting extending your range. Yet by yourself it should work out like that. Actually I'm not sure if drafting helps extend your range as the engine will be revving higher as well using more fuel. When I was testing GR.1 it seemed that getting good slipstream meant worse fuel mileage in AT. Higher rpm at top gear uses a lot more fuel.

While not related to Gr. 1 cars, I was able to save some more fuel via drafting. When I was doing the GR Supra cup at Circuit de la Sarthe, there was a FM strategy that gave me just enough fuel to finish the race (no drafting). During the actual race, I noticed that I had a bit more fuel to play around with. In the straights, once I saw I was closing the gap between me and the person ahead, I'd adjust the FM and stay behind the car ahead for all the slipstream benefits.

Then again, the 2019 Supra has 8 gears...

That Interlagos race is going to be crazy. T2, T3 and the final turn.

Past races, look like players know not to push too hard at T1 as you need that run though the esses, to pass at T3.
Thinking of using the Supra, AMG GT and RSR.

I think I'll cruise around La Sarthe in the 787B. Looks so cool watching the avatar shift gears. Plus, that engine note. Makes up for any negatives.

I could get used to this "fastest on my friends list" thing . .

Aaaand, now it's time for some late night, Sunday racing.

Can't complain about this one.

Caught the outside rear on the grass at Dunlop, here. Not ideal.

I just didn't have the consistency needed in this one. Too much variation in lap times, compared to the winner.

Spent my final night at Nurburgring in the GR3 Viper. I'm surprised I don't see more of them, while not the fastest car, it's competitive enough and fun to drive! Finished 1st then 4th in my two races with running out of fuel heading across the finish line costing me third in the race. Picked up a livery through the discover option done by @Nismonath5 by chance, so it looked as good as it ran!

Very stable out of the slow corners and a great top end to it. Really suffers in the first sector and final sectors of Nordschleife where the road changes direction quickly with lots of mid-speed corner.

Awesome, glad you like it bud! :sly: 👍

I agree, the Viper GT3 is sadly a bit under represented. I think that might be in part due to the Viper's rep as a brutally unforgiving car to drive. The Gr.3 version however, while certainly packing a punch, has forgiving enough handling and stability to make it a force worth mastering!

I only did three races last night as I was too damn tired after watching the GT World Tour:lol: I went straight into the Nurburgring race without a qualifying time and therefore started 16. I didn't conserve any fuel so I had to pit, yet I still managed 8th. I went on to the Suzuka race and chose the F-Type Group 4, a car I'd never driven before. Wasn't the fastest but it did handle well; much better than I expected. I would use it if I go on again before the races change (which I most likely won't). I started 7th and finished 6th. I did the Nurburgring race again in the Supra, and started last (19th) with a shockingly slow qualifying time of 8:30. I used manual gears to conserve fuel, and for once I made it across the line without pitting. I had nothing left in the tank, which I suppose is a good thing. I worked my way up 11th; not terrible considering where I started.

A+ is so sneaky, slow you down at the last quarter, pretending to be low on fuel, let you pass at the start of the straight to put full power on and draft pass you again up the hill. I'll remember that. 4 sec slower lap time, but must have that position. Just race, ugh. We could have easily caught up to 3rd if he had not done that.

I'm still enjoying the ring for now. It's been a bit of a green hell (lots of laggy Brazilians) but it's getting better. One victory after getting 2 unfair penalties putting me in the lower SR.S split for a race.

That race was awesome, best lap of the week at 8:22.600 and race time of 16:56.444

I still routinely get rammed in T1, starting midfield, but manage to climb back to top 5 regardless. Last race same thing again, rammed at T1 to 14th, then finished 4th with clean race bonus. This is top split racing, best of the best, 10th to 5th on the straight. At least the all stay on the same side :)

I ended the night with a 5th place finish with crb in a room with more A+/S drivers than I've seen all week. @Voodoovaj finished 4th, too fast to catch for me. A great week of racing sadly comes to an end, but I'll be back on the N24 for the endurance race with @Mistah_MCA

DR went from 20K to 43.5K this week despite many disconnects. SR up and down, it was messy starting midfield, but ended on a solid 99. My race count on N24 increased to 570 with 296 top 5 finishes and 32 victories. I didn't bother to improve my qualifying time, too much fun racing!

It's going to rain tomorrow, means I'll be on Sarthe starting from the back in a car that needs to brake early, on Monday. So bye bye SR and DR lol.

I'm calling it a night. No positions gained, sadly. I either finished where I started, or lost positions through being unintentionally punted, or my own error (13th, and 8th place finishes respectively.)

Nice haul of podium finishes. Back up to 99SR, and a gain of 3500DR after my disastrous races in the NSX dropped me down to 20k.

Roll on Interlagos, and la Sarthe . .

Must have done 30-something races at Suzuka this week. Only had a couple incidents total, lots of very clean and exciting racing. I never did improve my qualy time better than 2:08.6 despite getting .4’s in several races. So I started P2 to P6 in most of them. I think I had 13 or 14 wins and just as many podiums. At one point today I won 4 in a row after the same pole-sitter binned it in front of me at various points in the race each time. He must have been so mad. Meanwhile I gained around 13k DR in a few days and now I’ll be stuck in deep water for the next round of FIA (sad face). Might as well see if I can keep it going this coming week at Sarthe. Happy racing everyone!

I was taking a look at the Daily C times for this week. I saw our lord and savior using the R92CP, so I tried to match it.

For some reason, I mixed that with the 962 C.

But anyways, that thing FLIES down the straights. It understeers a bit in the twister parts, so you gotta slow down.
There's also only two turns where you should go on 2nd gear. The first one is at the end of the straight, and and the second one is at Arnage.

I had a topsy-turvy Sunday evening. Qualified 3rd at the 'Ring in my GT-R, inherited the lead when the leading duo collided at Hatzenbach. As I entered the Karrussell I had about a 3.5s lead, but that's when the trouble started. My sticky brake pedal decided to rear its ugly head again, so I stamped on it as a quick fix, sending me into a half spin and all but wiping out my lead.

Luckily the guy behind me had a track limits penalty to serve, allowing me to coast from the bridge into Hohenrain and do some necessary fuel saving.

It was all looking good until the Bilsteinkurve, where I took too much speed into it and ended up in the gravel, dropping to 3rd. I picked up 2nd as my opponent had a penalty to serve, but ran out of fuel within a stone's throw of the finish, coasting across the line 0.1s ahead.

As for Suzuka, that cost me pretty much all of my DR gains as I could manage no better than 7th, and qualifying no better than 13th. :indiff:

Looks like fuel is an issue for Race C at De la Sarthe. I hopped on the 1st race of the day in a Toyota TS050 and comfortably drove away to victory (2nd this year :gtpflag:) with no real fuel saving (I did short shift a little at the start but I don't think it is necessary in this car) but a few people pitted behind me. Tyres are no problem so I am thinking it might be a race for Peugeot 908 or maybe the Dodge?

Probably want to qualify in the Alpine though

I love the Gr.3 Viper—it’s probably my favourite car in the game. But it really suffers on parts of Nord, it’s just lacking a bit of grunt and agility which means at certain points it’s difficult to build a gap or catch up. I ended up having to switch to the AMG SLS.

Out of curiosity does the Gr.1 race have grid start?
That track has one of the worst running start ever lol.
Also the SRT Tomahawk should be amazing in there as well the 908 Pug.
Rolling start
A Toyota just won my race, though I managed to no stop in the 962 C wasn't too bad with some short shifting, was only 4s off in the end but we all had a load of penalties throughout

Well, thanks to a major tooth ache I’ve got today off and a dentist appointment later today. But for now, I’ve got the Miata down to a 12.0, I couldn’t catch @Mistah_MCA or @QC YALUM but I came close! Great Laps guys!! :cheers:

Have no internet.
Is race C no chicane ?
A non-stop is done with mediums or hards? thanks!

It has the chicanes, and hards only. No stop is possible with short shifting. :)

Edit: I’ve got the R18 down to 3:24.0 but it seems it may not be the best car for Q this time around. Gonna try the 908 and R92 next. Again, great Lap @Mistah_MCA :cheers:

I had a bit of time this morning, so here are some initial conclusions for Race C, based on two runs with the SRT Tomahawk. I used my new burner account (R4M_12358W*, if anyone’s interested), so I was in some pretty low-ranked lobbies.

1. No-stop seems to be the way to go. The Tomahawk can do the five laps pretty easily with some fuel mode trickery and no short-shifting.

2. While the Tomahawk is a great car to drive leisurely around the French countryside, it is probably not a car I will be using any more this week. It feels incredibly cumbersome in traffic as well as in slow corners and has little chance to properly race against the Hybrids over a race distance. You can keep up, but the difference out of the corners is so massive that you generally need a mistake from the driver in front to complete a move. Add shortshifting and fuel modes, and it not the car to race. Its brakes are also not the best.

3. The race reports:

3.1. I was on pole, with an LM55 behind me and an R18 in third. Start went well, we go to the first chicane, and I need to take evasive action because the R18 completely overshot the chicane. I drop down the order a bit, and start disposing of the cars in the reasonable manner until one idiot decides he won’t have anyof that and sends me into the Shadow Realm first at Mulsanne, and then once again in Arnage on the second lap. Thanks to most of the other drivers either taking each other out and/or pitting, I still finished an easy second, only three seconds behind first. However, with at least 20 seconds lost thanks to incidents, this was a case of what could have been.

3.2. In my second race, I was on pole again, now with a TS050 behind me. Predictably, I was consigned to second before we were even close to the first corner. I managed to retaliate between the chicanes thanks to the Tomahawk’s superior top speed, but was passed again shortly thereafter. I then made a couple of small mistakes in the Toyota’s dirty air and by the time we got to Tertre Rouge on the second lap, I was already so far behind that I could only get close in the chicanes, but couldn’t even think about making a legitimate move. And that was pretty much the way it played out for the next five laps. The difference ebbed and flowed a bit, but I was never seriously in contention to make a move. Thanks to some carnage it was still another easy 2nd, though.

All in all, I think my fastest lap with the Tomahawk in race trim was a 3:25.8, but that was with little fuel saving and quite a bit of tow down some of the long straights. Other than that, I guess I could do regular 3:27s on uninterrupted and largely mistake-free laps, depending on tow and how much fuel-saving I do.

4. Other cars

I initially qualified with the Alpine (3:23.1xx), and gave the Tomahawk a try in quali mode between races (3:23.8xx). I tried the 908, but had too much understeer through Indy, Arnage and the Porsche curves to feel comfortable with. It’s probably a quick car, just not for me.

I then bought the TS050 (new account, remember) and gave that a try. Had a messy first hotlap attempt, but recognised there was quite a bit of potential there, and ultimately ended up with a 3:23.0xx, about half a tenth quicker than the Alpine, which surprised me. I can’t wait to give that car a go in the race.

*Those who recognise my username on here can probably see the connection between it and my new PSN account.

Trying the TS050 now. The 787B has caught on after me using it in my first race. It's fast. I pitted and still had a podium finish. Short shifting and it's top speed is a weapon. I'll find out now.
