Well, this is a new one. Obviously I botched the chicane, and my left rear fender hit the barrier. 5 seconds for that. No problem.
A couple seconds later, the game decides to double up on me, I get the same penalty again, for the same reason, apparently. I definitely only hit it once (each 5 second penalty says "Hit the Barrier"). Any ideas what the deal is? Is it just a mistake by the penalty system?

Perhaps a new bug, I've seen it happen to someone else as well, same spot. I've had something similar before on Tokyo but that was for unintentional wall riding. Got stuck on the wall for a bit, didn't gain any time but the game thought it deserved 10 sec for trading paint with the wall. This looks different, perhaps first 5 sec for the hit, second 5 sec for gaining (as in not losing enough) time from it. It's all effed up anyway, 1 sec for murdering a car, 5 sec for a tiny scrape avoiding a car. In GTS it's better to kill someone than risk a speeding ticket!

race B could REALLY use an extra lap , race lasts about 6.25 min that is way too short , and the waiting gets longer between races

Race A is actually longer than race B this week lol. Just over 8 minutes per race, still way too short. A should have been race C on the outer loop with 9 laps!

Race A is pretty impossible to gain SR on. +1 or +2 per race is max with getting bumped every race. Then when you avoid an idiot not braking in time you get a 5 sec penalty for tapping the wall :banghead: 95 SR currently, still not back to 99. One more then, back to Tokyo spark way.

I was able to do 3 Tokyo races this morning, before work. I think I only had one time that I hit another car badly (I braked too late). Every race, I had wall penalties. All 3 races were neutral white ratings at the end. I may need a bit of practicing there. My average finishing time behind winner: 38 seconds.

Careful in here mate, jealousy is a stinky cologne.

According to some in here your wins may not be genuine and considered “win farming.” Especially those with 23 wins from 700 races

I say well done to you. You put it at the pointy end in quali and the results came.
Thanks man! I honestly don't care. Its still very hard for me to win the race starting from pole. I lost a lot more karting races than I won when starting from pole. Besides, I'm sure every driver in the world would prefer to race on his or her "best circuit" if it meant accumlating wins. Obviously it would get boring after a while but still lol.

Thank you! I tried getting more wins last night at around 11pm. I fell asleep with the controller in my hand and now the races changed *sniffel* I can't get a good time in the Kyoto race :( lol

I think I did about 12 races lol. Finally back to 99 after the last one. Just one bump from behind which sent me into a wall so no SR Down for me. I still can't get under 1:56 while the aliens go 1:51 in race. I was never much use with slow cars on sports tires, but staying off the walls still guarantees a decent finish. The car is so touchy, I move the left stick about a millimeter to turn. This needs a wheel to get some finesse, very hard to find and stay on the edge between turning and sliding at high speed on a controller. Perhaps turning the sensitivity back down would help but I think that only changes how fast the wheels move to the desired position, not the actual turn position.

Fun race though. Thanks to being right next to the walls it at least feels faster than it is :)

I watched an interview with Walter Rohl discussing Porsche driving technique and one point stood out.
He said the ENTRY is the slowest point in the corner.
It helped me a lot in the 356 at Brands Indy. I was quite near the top there.
I wonder if the 930 is similar, haven’t tried it yet.
NO LIFTING...
It’s like the speedster chassis could keep gripping and gripping with progressive throttle application, like the car got super stable when loaded up...
Looking forward to giving that car a try...

Race C is good fun. I used the no-quali account and for the most part its been good racing.

However Ive seen plenty of DNFs and which I assume were DSQs or rage quits, players losing SR ranks and was deliberately taken out "le pen" style at least once.

The Mazda is fun, i like the tire choice.

I just finished a night shift run last night so I am awful today, might have to wait until tomorrow to race or else my ratings will bomb.

Porsche time. Took it for a spinn for the first time. I can say, that this thing drives like a real one. Only throttle oversteer is missing, but you steer with throttle anyway.
So not 100% like the real thing, but the DNA is clearly there
Like groundfish said, don't lift, use throttle to fight understeer.

BB -2

Race A q time 1:54.025 (optimum 1:53.6)

Race C is fun! I was much to Cautious in the beginning of this one though, that and I got spun around at the hairpin in lap 6/7 by a CnF guy of all people.
I don’t think it was done on purpose though, plus I got the spot back not long after. :)

I’m in on the next one too, no familiars.

Shifters don’t work anymore in any daily races, they were disabled a while back because guys found ways to cheat with them and there was too much difference between shift times between a shifter and paddles in road cars.

Got the MX down to 31.666! I was so close to catching you this time @Mistah_MCA , so close!! :D BB +1

I'm gonna give it another go again. Kie25 is in the 29 second range now... so I need to do better lol.

Next race was a frustrating one, I had gotten off to a good start and then I get knocked off two corners in a row, and the second one I get a penalty for somehow?

I somehow made it back up to tenth after that. :)

No QT, it looks like? How's the slipstream on the back straight? I don't think I'll be able to pass very much, so I'll have to qualify.

Yup, started at the back. Slipstream works a bit but not until you get some speed built up, it doesn’t seem to be super helpful so far. Good exits are key, especially exiting the hairpin and spoon. I’m about to try again. :)

Hello Monday Madness!

I've only tried race b so far and the relative comfort of gr3. I've qualified with a 01:33.851 with the Supra which puts me 233rd in EMEA. It feels like i'm super slow and inconsistent through the 2nd half of the track so i expect I can bring that down a smidge or 2 over the coming days.

3 races. 8th x2 + a 3rd. All of which have been races of attrition. If the driver in front gets their line wrong through the S's or either of the two chicanes at the back of the track it can be penalty central with no way out. I lost 13 SR in my first race and I don't know how I could have done anything different. Oh and the race could do with being 3 laps longer.

Should be a fun week!

Not the cleanest or most successful race, but here’s my view starting from the back in Race C in an all A/A+ lobby with several other no-qualy warriors. I got two penalties trying to avoid contact and lag, and also missed a downshift coming out of the hairpin once and let 3 guys pass me like a pleb...despite all that I somehow still managed P5 at the end. Fun race with lots of fighting and some mild rubbing. Came together with 2 other A+ drivers the last few laps and worked our way up until the finish when things got pretty spicy to say the least ;)

The next race only saw 9 people make it they the warm up and to the starting line lol, I was into 1st by lap 3 but a stupid corner 1.5s cut penalty on lap 7 in the final chicane was the undoing, 2nd passed me after we exited spoon and that was that, clean race and Fl though at least. :)

Gonna try a Race B in the F1 GTR next. :)

Great job! I also have a wheel, but I'm too lazy to deploy it, so DS4 all the way here.

If you care about trophies, something I do, not farming wins is stupid because 91 is an insane amount for most people. If you can put yourself on winning conditions not going for it because of some random prejudice is pointless.

I did it by farming some - specially in the weeks I found myself with a blistering quick quali time - and I don't care: I'm not a pro in GTS and with no ambitions nor skills to be even close to be one.

Now that I got them all, I can relax and enjoy the races with no pressure for winning and take Sport mode for what it is.

Exactly the same for me. Got the 91 wins and poles last week with the kart. Got most of my wins with cars like these, ovals and races on nurb. Just one trophy to go the level 50 one. I'm level 44 with 100k to level 45. That is gonna take a lot of time. But like gt5 and gt6 I would like that platinum. If only PD would up those xp rewards in daily races...

The mazda is too slow for suzuka , passing the S almost full gas , 130R ..... i did only one race leading by 5 seconds and almost sleep in lap 8 at degner going a bit off track without loosing position.
Must be a very good car for tsukuba or any slower track. At least they have to increase the power for faster track to keep the fun.

Race A quali - 1.56.1ish. Very quick 3 lap session just to finish the daily mileage.

Road cars at Tokyo has gone very well for me in the past, so I'm interested to try and tame the turbolag this week and try to put in some good performances. Some notes and questions;

I am trying to keep the revs as high as possible and upshift at the last moment, I'm hoping this keeps the turbo a-whirling.

Brake balance? I'm at 0 and rarely touch it but with the engine hanging out under the back bumper maybe it could help some? I do think I am better than average at predicting and correcting oversteer, though.

The hairpin. Where to brake? My line there was very wide and with a long straight after it's gonna be critical to nail it.

Flat out through the whole tunnel section, right? I can't remember if i lifted somewhere, but pretty
sure it's flat...

Hotlap music? My eurobeat playlist always works, and I've dabbled some Perturbator and Carpenter Brut in there for the real 80s vibe, but Smooth Criminal popped on earlier and that was very satisfying. More 80s?

Cool- thanks. I've gotten the Hairpin down pretty well and can usually overtake there. But the Spoon- that one feels like the geometry can be quite different based on the speeds involved.
