Had a string of good races after my first two this morning. A couple podiums a couple wins and a lot of good racing. The best of the day though was one i saved and shared in game. The result was this finish...

Seriously great race from start to finish. The end could have been a disaster but clean racing prevailed lol

Just got the most disgusting penalty in Race B, ruining my clean race streak. A French Supra slipstreamed me through the fast-paced S bends at the start of lap 4, coming alongside before the last one that curves to the right then narrows between the barriers. He pushed me across the right onto grass just before the last apex, leaving me nowhere to go and hitting the beginning of the rumble strip awkwardly with my front left wheel. Picked up 0.5s for cutting the track despite the only way to avoid cutting it would be to effectively emergency stop, ram him hard to the left (and therefore pick up a contact penalty). I then grabbed an extra 3s contact penalty anyway because he had hugged even further to the right as the corner comes into barriers, squeezing my car (my front wheels level with his door handle roughly) between his and the wall. I massively lost out and somehow my car got pitched back at an angle. I got the penalty for hitting the French guy who had squeezed me into the wall, before the car behind hit my now massively slowed down car.
This, might I add, was a fight for 10th place. Disgusting driving. He got a big blue S at the end as a reward, while I lost 500 DR and 4 SR.

Nevermind. Today is a write-off.
Had a Spanish FT-1 on lap 2 in the same section tap my rear left wheel which pitched my car left into him and the wall. I get 3s.
The S bend before final corner on final lap, an Italian GT-R slams on his brakes hard on the apex at the usual point any normal person was already accelerating. I brake to try to avoid but end up with a light tap, he then goes off on his own into the far wall. Another 3s.
Loss of 800 DR and 17 SR for me. Had it with these horrible cheating drivers. All got shiny blue SR S at the end, I got demoted to A.

Disaster streak continues. I'm B/A in a broadly C/A and B/A race. A Russian guy uses me as his brakes on most corners, on the final lap pushes up the inside half on the grass and rams his way through. I get SR downs every single time. Shock horror, I finish with an SR loss. How surprising. The game has decided it will do whatever it can to send me into a downward SR spiral today. That's 3 races in a row that have been disastrous, haven't had this level of bs in weeks.

My lunch break races on Tokyo were not very exciting, it's like matchmaking has given up or there's no one left in SR.S. One race had 8 entries from A/S to half D/S. Actually one A/A in there as well to get the room 2/3rds full. And of course, come alongside a driver hug the inside wall for the next corner, they still bump into you then the outside wall and 2 sec penalty, -10 SR. The race after had clean race bonus, SR restored.

So after racing on Tokyo yesterday evening, dropping to 52 SR, Suzuka last night, Yamigawa this morning and Tokyo again for lunch, no qualifying time for any of course, the result for all that, -3 DR

Thursday, SR.S is emptying out, still no full grid on Tokyo with people that can control the car, might as well go back to actual daily races.

It's been a while since I've participated in all 3 'daily' races in a week, so there's that

@Sven Jurgens Those dudes across the Pacific are still racing. It's 4 am in Sydney, and 3 am in Tokyo.
My connection was 3 yellow bars. It all seemed to go pretty smooth.

By the way, I'm from Alice Springs, Australia. ;)

Dang, 13 people? There's more people racing there at 4am than here! Or was it a mix of SR.S to SR.E like you get here in the middle of the night.

Seriously, how is it possible to stay SR S at Tokyo? Is it even possible?

15 in the next race! I'm starting at the back, of course. I got 6th both times, so the guys who are awake must be pretty groggy, or drunk. Tons of crashing.
All the Australian guys have 3 yellow bars, so I suppose the server is in Japan, which is probably about as close to me as it is to them. 👍

Yes, the SR was all across the spectrum.

It's not possible to stay at SR.S as I've dropped to SR.A every single evening this week. It is possible to very slowly climb back to 99 SR in the morning or at lunch time on Tokyo. Last night I had to resort to racing at Suzuka since I was all the way down to SR.B. This week has been my lowest ratio of clean race bonuses this year. It's seriously worse than 9 laps on Monza. While racing from the back you meet people that turn one corner into 5, as if they are sailing against the wind or something. Ping pong cornering.

But once you see the players you’re up against in the race you can’t quit in any way without losing DR points though right?
When you're in the first loading screen, when you first see the list of people, just press the PS button 8n the middle of the controller. Then press Options on the GT Sport and choose "close application" before the lobby loads, you'll have plenty of time to do this. You won't lose any dr or sr.
Sorry for my English.

Thanks! I had no idea you could still do this, so you can still cherry pick favourable lobbies then, interesting.

The roadster is the most fun I've had since sardegna

To expand a bit. This car is great for learning. Not too fast. Not too slow. Fairly good at breaking and turning. Almost feels like a redbull junior... junior.
I actually started using MT with this car. I feel this is the link between road cars and full on racing cars.
Suzuka works great too. You actually experience the advantage of running MT in this track.

First run at a race C quali, was gonna race but got distracted making a livery... 2.36.045...

Damn, this thing is absolutely neutered with BoP on...

Damn, I am so slow around Suzuka... Will report my adventures once I've eaten some food. Don't feel great about it. Dreadfully slow.

are not more points up for grabs in tougher lobbies vs weak lobbies?

You are correct, you can also just duck out of a lobby if it turns out that there isn’t many points available in it too. Much easier to maintain ratings that way, you’ll never get screwed into a lose/lose scenario where it’s win or lose points, you can just exit stage left after screening the opponents at no consequence. 👍

Man is Race B filthy today in Europe.

Penalties left right and centre, and everyone I've received have been from cars in front losing control, careering back on track, hitting me and going off again, giving me anywhere from 3 to 5 seconds.

Or the best one today was a pole sitter who got nerfed off somewhere and decided anyone else trying to pass was fair game for retaliation. They were gaming the penalty system at the same time though. They took me out just after the chicane at the bottom of the hill, and went off track at the same time, giving me 5 seconds, they then do the same to the other racer in front at the hairpin. Absolutely spear them, the wounded gets 5 seconds, the pissed pole sitter goes on their merry way.

They did receive a lot of abuse at the end in the chat.

I even got called out by a French driver, (who said I should go and have relations with my mother), but the thing is, I was nowhere near them in the race!!! The started 4th, me 16th, and I never saw them until near the end when he was spinning like a top.

Ok, just jumped to yamagiva race B today. No qualy, no practice, just race.
Well, I was last on first two races, and dropped to DR B, lost 3000DR :D

Still kept racing, improved my qualy between races, 1:34.1xx was last q time. Puts me in P7-9 in mixed DRA/B grid.
Finished 1-4p up from start and gained my DR back, so A again.

Now the epiphany of the day, I found the fun again in the game. So no more hotlaps and hunting aliens. Racing is where the fun is.
Also had super clean racing, got only one 1s penalty in about 8 races.

Also met someone from GTP, just dont remember the ps user name anymore

Please tell me how easy the Mazda is to drive after you spin out twice (once being my fault). If you spin at all in race c have fun finishing the race. My tires were like Verstappen's by lap 6. Felt like I had virtually no grip and the car was a bear to turn.

Nice! There is a section in the PS4 friends menu that’s called “Players Met” that you can click on to find the guy you raced with and add him that way. It’s a handy tool for remembering names of people. :)

Haiku for race C
Tenth to Seventh nice and clean
Dead tyres last lap.

Back to SR S, DR basically unmoved. I got passed a lot at the hairpin. A little slow through the tight bends but not quite so bad. Got the best of some guys in straight fights. Great wheel to wheel action with a Portuguese chap. Lots of room given, he was faster so let him go after slight error exiting chicane.

EDIT: Here's the livery I got distracted on. Took a nice snap at Brands for patriotism's sake.

I've become a little fatigued with Race B. Race A is an utter disaster and race C.. been told it's a snoozefest. Can someone confirm this?
Yeah, if you're not in a direct race with anyone, it's not worth it. I "blame" the track selection. Plus, Race C, since it's the "enduro" race of the week, should be mandatory pitstop

Race A & B are the "Sprint" races. Race C could mash things up with mandatory pitstop from Lap two
to the penultimate lap. That's how I feel about it.

I've liked it so far. Different type of car to drive and I find the track and car pairing very technical. The field can spread out pretty quickly but I've had some good battles throughout the field.

The finishing order is determined within the first few laps. The last 4 or 5 laps are pretty boring. Don't bother.

If you start without qualifying only the last 3 or 4 laps are boring... My first attempt was the best where only the last 2 laps were a snooze fest, all because I jumped in without practice and was improving my lap times each lap until I hit the 2:35s and couldn't go any faster.

The 'excitement' was over a lot sooner in the other two, hence I like my dual tv setup for races like this week's C :)

Race C should have been A and A should have been C on the East loop (with the container section). Although that would probably reset some people's DR after a single race  That Porsche with x13 tire wear, that will be a fun party :dunce:

I'm foolishly going to try racing in the evening again. What's up for 8:20 pm

-11 SR is what's up, down to 88 after race 1. Battle Royale, all red except the first 3. I got a bs penalty but still managed 5th with fastest lap 1:53.4, full second faster than the rest. Doesn't matter when you get a 3 sec BS penalty lol. Race A needs more laps!!!

I think the C race would have been much better if it was on a shorter track. Super GT brought it up in a recent video, and I'm going to agree with him on that.

A Mazda Touring car race would have been better on the following tracks:

-Autopolis Short
-Suzuka East
-Short versions of Lago Maggiore
-Kyoto Driving Park - Miyabi
-Any of the Blue Moon Bay configurations
-Sardegna C
-Any other short tracks I can't think of right now

It would be interesting to see what people think of a race on Nordschleife with the Mazda Touring Car. Long track, slow-ish car, but that can enable a few more overtaking opportunities and close racing.

Knowing PD, they'll likely only make it a 2 lap race, so we'd need to set up a proper lobby race to get the most out of it, and see if people like that combo or not.

-

I've also been feeling a bit low lately, so I've been staying away from 90% of the GTSport stuff, including making videos (I need to make the Supra guide, so I'll have tonforce myself to get to it tonight). I'm just over here doing lap times for N200 cars. :p
Kind of a shame, I was looking forward to doing the Roadster races, but I can't do it if I'm feeling like this lol.
