Back in the Clio....

Last night I got my main account qually down to 1:28.590.

This morning, two races on the main account.

Race 1

Started 3rd in a mixed grid of A/S>D/S. Two A/S in front of me.

Finished 6th. The first driver to pass me was nice and clean. Other two, some touching and I came off worse each time.

Blue SR at the end.

Race 2

Started 5th with four A/S in front.

Finished.........1st!

I wasn't far behind the A/S drivers on lap 1. They were really close together, but clearly slowing each other down. So a couple of errors from them and, on lap 4, a bit of blatant nudging another car off the track by one of them (which he got a penalty for), led to me driving through their mess for a 2.7 second win!

Had a very nice welcome back to sport mode after a short break. Had a practice session in the 86 and was consistently lapping at 40. So had a couple of races. First one started 17th of 20 ina field heavy in A drivers. Had a really long drawn out battle with 3 others at the back of the field. Ended up 18th as the no equally driver left us, but nicely clean.

Race 2 started 9th of 20 and got stuck in a conga line of 6 people behind a black knight after 5 laps the 2 lambos in front snapped and punted the person, and themselves, heading I to turn 1. The rest of us had a good clean battle for a couple of laps before 1 person drive off and I had a good duel the test of the way with a Ferrari. Finish 5th, get CRB.

2 fantastic clean races. Mixed results but enjoying the 86. Feeling like I have a handle on the car much better than before.

Not sure about this week. I’m enjoying the B & C combos but tanked DR all week. Daily C I qualified well but come the race I’m 2 to 3 seconds a lap off the pace. Finished last nearly every attempt. Daily B I’m didn’t qualify well on but raced better. I get a run of 3 or 4 good results earning about 200 to 300 DR points and then I get punted in a race, drop a truck load of places and DR drops 1,000. So it 4 little steps forward and 1 giant step back.

There has been some good, clean and close racing and I’ve used more cars this week than ever before. I even raced naked in the WRX which I had never driven and couldn’t even find in the garage.

No super results but I always love to show off the liveries (except the WRX of course).

From the looks of things me having a couple of days off the game with family stuff seems like a good time for the 2 messy days of our friday and saturday. Need to give the 86 a good round at interlagos as I still feel fairly solid at that track, but also tempted to get used to it as a car since it seems to be a winner for Big Willow. Last time I rode the WRX around there and simply got dogged on the main straight all the time. Need something with zip.

The 86 is good for Big Willow. It was the meta car the last time the combo came up. I also set my best time at Biggie the other night in a practice lobby. But I personally have more time & desire to get the Mustang some more trophies.

After neglecting it most of the week (with good reason, it seems :boggled:), I returned to Race A. The 1:28.8 QT I set earlier in the week was still good for P3 although I'd say my pace going into this race was 0.5 - 1s slower.

L1: I almost lost it at Fordwater and was passed by P4. Next I got bumped 3 times at Lavant Corner, guy was on a mission to bump me off for no reason. Nice. Next up to Woodcote Corner, I got forced off the track so dropped to P7.

L2: The driver who forced me off drove himself off between Madgwick and Fordwater. I checked his perspective and I think he fell asleep at the wheel or was scared I'd bump him off.

L3: Made up positions to P4 because of 3 penalty cars ahead. Next I was bumped and almost span out at Woodcote Corner but because I stayed on the track, no penalty for said bumper.

L4: Bumper car passed me along Fordwater so I finished 4th. Overall, pretty dirty race (S99 lobby, lol). Maybe I've ended up in the wrong lobbies since I've seen a lot of praise for how clean this combo is.

12 seconds of penalties in 1 lap, must be a new PB:

Interestingly it's a 5 second penalty for being hit by a car coming from half a second back but only 3s for deliberately walling them on the next straight.

You walled the wrong driver... the one who punted you first ran off into the astro turf (hence the 5 seconds, pushing a car into a wall) and didn't make the corner. It was the driver behind you walled (unless you were watching mirrors in race and it was two back punted the one behind into you). Easy mistake, I've done it myself and that's why I try to avoid revenge.

The Audi had hit the Mercedes at the hairpin half a lap earlier to get ahead, when they got to the hairpin he didn't brake from about 6 tenths behind and pushed the Audi off via my bumper. I think we both got penalties for hitting the Audi. The first contact shows up on the radar.

I know you shouldn't do revenge but there was nothing else to do for the last 3 laps after the penalty.

I haven't figured it out. Knock someone into oblivion, you get 3 seconds. Nudge someone off, they drop all 4 tires off & are able to safely get back on track, 5 seconds you scum.

Who said pictures don't lie :ouch::irked::nervous::crazy:
It all depends on viewpoint. Glad you elaborated.

After your initial assessment, I went back & watched it again. I saw the radar & the car 2 behind Max slammed the car directly behind him. Technically, Max got revenge on the right driver. But, it always comes with a penalty. This is the broken system that we all hate.

The penalty is not really a penalty for the rammers though you can cause as many crashes as you want and only get dropped down to an easier lobby. To the win at all costs people that is more of a reward. I'm disappointed the game didn't give me a bigger penalty for the swipe on the straight.

Well, I don't feel so bad about my driving. I like to win some of these races, but my life isn't fulfilled by the number of race wins I have. I just hate when jackholes want to mess up someone's race for no good reason.

Yes, I just had a race where I finished about 0.3 seconds behind 1st place, I could have easy pushed to pass and won the race (providing opponent didn't get me back) but didn't because I'd rather lose fairly than win dirty and spoil what was a good race for both of us. Shame the people who do this are not the majority but that's life.

I was behind a guy in a Jag earlier this week, by t7 he had 18 seconds penalty, then tried to run me off when I passed him and then again when he tried to pass me coming up the straight. I didn't yield though, so he ended up spinning out and I got a 3 second penalty.

Check if your tv is listed here. They show the latency for all different modes.
https://www.rtings.com/

You should always use game mode if the tv offers it. Also some tvs add a lot of latency when using HDR, yet some 4K tvs are slower when you feed them a 1080p signal since they have to upscale. For example the Sony 830F 4K tv:
1080p @ 60 Hz: 29.8 ms
1080p @ 60 Hz Outside Game Mode: 92.0 ms
1440p @ 60 Hz: 30.5 ms
4k @ 60 Hz: 31.8 ms
4k @ 60 Hz + 10 bit HDR: 32.1 ms
4k @ 60 Hz @ 4:4:4: 31.5 ms
4k @ 60 Hz Outside Game Mode: 94.0 ms
4k @ 60 Hz With Interpolation: 99.3 ms

Only problem is, Europe uses different names for the same tvs, the 900E in US is XE90 in Europe to make things confusing.

Sometimes I think I’m not pushy enough or plain ignorant enough to win more. At nearly 700 races I’ve a 30% top 5 rate and K score of 60 which I think is decent enough but only 5 wins. I’m happy to sit behind a fast driver and enjoy lapping rather than ruin a race for 1 position. This morn at Suzuka I was 4th with only 3 seconds separating the 1st 5 places. Rather than being happy with his place the car in 5th tried a bloody stupid move, dived up my inside and took the car in 3rd out of it. I actually gained a place but the race changed from a great close race to a frag fest. I’d rather have lost a place to a decent move than gained to that crap. It’s just plain bad manners and selfish behavior.

I've had races where I've done really poorly and crashed, winding up way behind the main pack of cars. At that point, my race is pretty much done so I just cruise around the track nice and easy, rather than quit and lose SR too. Wouldn't ya know, some idiot comes along and wants to have a rough, tooth and nail battle for the 14th spot.

Wtf? Why?

Some folks just lack perspective.

That has nothing to do with display latency. Display latency comes after your online lag, it's simply the time it takes for a frame to be rendered and then to appear on your screen. The game is already rendering the frame with outdated information.

So if you're racing someone with 150ms ping, while you have 40ms ping to the server (broadband test is useless since it simply selects the best server for the best test results). That's 75ms for his data to get to the server and another 20ms to arrive on your system.

Then the game does it updates and renders the frame. It's a 60 fps game, so 16.7 ms per frame. However it rarely syncs up with transmission and most games a double or triple buffered to smooth out the frame rate. Not all frames take the same time to render. About the fastest console games can output a stable frame rate is at about 50ms latency since the last input was measured.

Now add the display latency on top of that, if outside game mode, that's 90ms.

So when you're racing that particular person, his last recorded actions happened 95 + 50 + 90 = 235 ms before you see it.
