I just did a couple races in the rain in the r92cp to unwind from n24 :) Track cut penalties are going to be the decisive factor in the daily races there... It's going to be chaos for a while with all the high speed track re-entries from those comfy run offs. Plus I hope PD has thought of the "tap a car and go sraight at Eau Rouge" problem that will surely come up. At least there's a wall at the final chicane but you can still cut a lot there.

It seems dusk has the least rain/spray, noon the most. You can hardly see a thing behind a car at noon. Fun!

@NoStopN Monaco! So many jummy wall penalties
Oh whoops. The whole lobby was on HW’s at dusk. Maybe that’s why we were having such a hard time.

edit: yep that was it

I had my fill of Monaco during GT3-6 (or whichever ones it was in). Me & walls don't get along.

As an aside, my QT for Big Willow has been good enough for PD to match me with other drivers that I'm faster than. So this week alone I've picked up something like 5-6 pole positions. But, every race has found me finishing lower than my starting position, yet I've finished higher than my door number. Well, all my races, except 1 (make that 2). ;)

I didn't really mean to insult the entire track, but when there's a chicane that make everyone almost come to a stop, I don't get it. The rest of the track is pretty good, I guess.
I know what you mean about Willow. As you can probably tell from my crash videos, I often drive aggressively (except for the 2 consecutive right-handers at Brands. Those scare me, and I probably go too slow there :nervous:).

Like most tracks it has evolved over time. The previous layout was slightly better IMO, that chicane can be problematic when it comes to pitting.

I finally had a go at big willow again. 3 races, didn't do great but only 1 crash. Had 1 poor guy who kept getting a run on me lap 1 every race but couldn't get me. Last race I simply lost it out of the top of the hill and went all over the place. Still wasn't last, and with following crashes and passes still ended up near mid field at the end.
SR back up to 99, DR pretty much stable, and finally beat my qually time from last round by 0.3 so mission done for the week. Anything else is fun or silly.

Edit: I do play for fun, but I have no cares about how my races go now. Learned the Nord somewhat and improved at big willow while keeping SR. Now for proper goofing off

Yep. The Kurgan.

Queen's 'A Kind of Magic' album served as the soundtrack to the orig Highlander film, and on the track 'Gimme The Prize' that quote is heard right before Brian May goes to solo city.
We are showing our age
Anyone who can hear the Highlanders laughter in your head right now, raise your hand.
"I am Connor McCloud, of the clan McCloud"...
I am sure if I rewatch it it won't be nearly as good. So I won't.
Oh, I remember the Kurgan sitting in the church and being all Kurgan with that damaged voice after the slit throat.

I was just rewatching bits of that the other night. As long as we forget movie 2 we are ok. There isn't a spa 2, right?

Despite the obvious "git gud"... for Race B, my Quali is a 1:16.9 but can only do 17.5-9s in race, how would I improve on getting a race pace closer to quali?

I can't be the only guy frantically refreshing the Kudos prime page so I can start practicing with the right car right away...

What do you guys think it'll be?
The new Merc or Gr.3?

I'm guessing Gr.3 or maybe Gr.4 In @Pigems lobby last night I thought Gr.4 worked much better than I would have expected and was a lot of fun. N100 in the rain wasn't as enjoyable....

However, this is PD so don't rule out Spa not being used in a daily race right away!

Spa is an ok track, I guess.
But I'd say it's hugely overrated by all the people who've been pissing their pants over it for the last two years.

This summarises the track for me. I've never raced it before in any game until now and while it's an interesting technical track, I can't say it bowls me over so... not understanding the hype myself. Agreed about the last chicane and T1 is also painful. Grid starts are a likely clown fiesta. Rolling not so bad.

What do you guys think it'll be?

A: Tsukuba (N100 / Mazda Roadster S (ND) '15)
B: Tokyo Expressway East Outer Loop (Gr.4)
C: Fuji (N200 / Toyota 86 GT '15)

The old Fiat 500 is excited now. Can't wait to go flat out through Eau Rouge in that tiny sucker!

Call me a heathen or whatever, but I have never raced on Spa. With the track options we already have can someone explain the huge cult following it has? I can understand lots of reasons for other tracks including GT originals but as someone who skipped from GT4 to GTS with nothing in between I don't get the hype. Anything I have missed about it?
At first drive, I was stumped (GT Legends was the game). I had no online friendly internet at the time so was racing single player only and I had to re-run that race about 20 times.
A few years later did an endurance race real time in the rain in GT5 and was forced to learn it. The better I knew the track, the more rewarding it became until it's now one of my favourites along with Brands and Mt Panorama. I'm not the quickest learner on new tracks, but I get the feeling that a similar (though shorter) story applies to many who've raced it both RL and sim.

I also notice how my heart rate increases before the start of a race
Remember to breath and make it slow, controlled breathing. It really helps keep your qualifying cool in a race situation.

I remember one of the rally circuits in GT5 I think, the little Fiat wouldn't make it around the circuit untuned because the first steep uphill section required more power than it had. Unles PD BoP the daylights out of that thing it'll look like a slow race through Raidillon / Eau Rouge.  👍

PD is going to hear my thoughts!

A: GR.3 Red Bull ring, rain
B: GR.1 Tokyo, dusk, rain (light)
C: GR.2 Spa, noon, rain (heavy)

I guess it just means things to some people. Likely through RL experience.

I've never been to Spa or driven it in a game. So it means very little to me.

Same applies to the Nurburgring. Never been. Never mastered in game. Never enjoyed.

But I have been to Le Mans. So despite being crap at it and despite 1/3 of the lap being a boring long straight, some horrible chicanes at the end and nothing else of note in between (indy/porsche aside) I adore it.

Haha, thanks for reminding me of that! It was one of the Eiger Nordwand Trail tracks, if I'm not mistaken, it had a long uphill section that several non-racing/rallying cars were not capable of climbing! That was fun

EDIT: Sorry, I know I'm way off topic here. To bring it back slightly, just gonna say I fully expect a Race B with Red Pigs in Spa and/or a Mazda Demio Race A

I wanted to lower mine to get better FIA races but got carried away with race C and ruined it, maybe next season I'll try again.

I’m staying well clear of the harder events, i’m just gonna do them in the Lobby instead, rage quits have already killed my ranking too much :(
If I score another 600points odd points again during one event, I won’t bother doing the over races, stuck in races with barely 30points for a win
I prefer racing against you quicker drivers instead of playing skittle avoidance with the early brake testers.

Has anyone seen the top 10 times for Nürburgring in America and EMEA region? The time difference between 1st and 2nd is quite significant. Something doesn't seem right.

I think it's legit. I've raced the EU #1 and he did a 8:14 on lap 2, 9s faster on a flat out qualy lap with no fuel weight or tyre wear sounds believable.
