Went for this no-qualy-strat you all talk about at Spa. Even after messing up two corners by spinning I still managed 2nd with a no-stop in the 911 and had plenty of fuel to go all-out on the final lap. First place was 14s ahead by the end. So many drivers took the twisty bits and Blanchimont incredibly slow, but gotta be really careful passing through those parts.

Oh look the car on the left is the same dude who cut the final chicane in @EinsTheOne post

Well spotted, I don't know where he/she was in my race, but there was a collision between 3 on lap 1, so maybe there's the answer.

I did a few races on Saturday night at Spa, and the 3 this morning, early days, but I'm feeling the majority of people are trying to race the circuit properly, and I haven't encountered any of the "drive like a prat reward" clan yet, I hope it stays that way!! :D

Here's half a lap of action from a public lobby race I did on Saturday, good fun, and more importantly, respect given!!

And the game looks, and sounds spectacular!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Oh, Lord, won't you buy me a Mer.......er.......Porsche

What sort of race pace is the Porsche doing? I'm 2:22-23 in the AMG but I've not got it right yet and have seen people running 2:20 in the AMG.

It's already argie-bargie at Thunderdome.

Then I got an award really early this week. A literal light tap in the rear bumper of the car ahead. Turn 1, they went beyond the track limits, I slowed down to let him retain the position, & I got 5 on it.

How I felt after seeing another of my photos on the front page. :D

Have you tried adjusting brakes bias & trailbraking in order to help with rotation?
Yup! I'm at +1 with the Supra. I think part of the issue is that you have to trail brake longer to make the turn, whereas in, say, the R8 LMS, that thing will rotate right away and you can get back on the throttle sooner.

I've done 2:21 race laps mate, but no qualy done yet...... 2:18 or under is where the aliens are methings!!

It's unbelievable that they don't have people testing stuff like that before releasing the track. :boggled:

They do, but finding it before release is the trick. A release schedule becomes more solid as the day approaches. Things have to be given the green light weeks before the actual release happens.

These exploits, if found, are often found after the deadline has passed.

Someone tried to use it in the race I was in this morning. They crashed :D

Unfortunately the AMG is not the best of choices for a no stop...

I've made it work with the Porsche, RCZ, 458 and NSX... But as you said, the fuel saving is so severe that it feels much slower than pitting...
I think lower DRs will have to pit while in higher split lobbies they'll have to no stop.... DR B lobbies should be fun...

Same boat here... I have resorted to lifting, it's much slower, but also much safer...
When coming up the hil the blind Apex is straight under the second high spruce from the right.

My FL for that race was only 2:24. The Porsche is incredibly stable and planted through the corners though. I was able to get past multiple AMG's and Supra's that couldn't keep up through the twisty sections.

The lobby was a mix of B and C drivers though since not many people are racing in the morning on a Monday (US).

Wow. I guess they're not too bright, then. That's the first place on the track that I would think to test.
People have already exploited RBR and Goodwood in similar ways.
Are people still able to do that trick at RBR where they finish their Q lap in the grass?

Reading over some of the comments, sounds a like a no-stop stategy would be the way to go at Spa. Haven't raced in a while because of work so this should be interesting, my favorite track is finally there. I hope I'll have some time to log in for an hour or so tonight. By the way, what's the best car right now that's really good on fuel!

The RCZ and VisionGT are both very good on fuel. Both only need a splash. Damn, hate to give away that secret

A no-stopper has no advantage since you lose to much time on track. The splash and dash for both Peugs can't be beaten by driving economically. At least, that is how I see it.

@dlshearon they could do a rolling start on the other side, leading up to Eau-Rouge.

I like e Huracan for qualifying race C. I found the Mustang was pretty fast as well. I lift a little at Eau Rouge as well, but I still managed 2:19.9 so it's not all about hitting Eau Rouge flat.

I'm waiting for the cries of how not stopping = not racing. It's like they can't wrap their heads around the concept that a race winner is the person that finishes in the shortest amount of time, not the person who puts in the fast single lap.
Fuel saving is just 2 much in some cars we need to save 3 lap of fuel for a 8 lap race lollll i dont race to look at scenery ? Shifting at 3000 RPM is not harder than 8000 at my opinion ist just boring af

But, the challenge is not to go balls to the wall. The challenge is to get to the finish line is as little time as possible. The fuel stop has to be factored in. That's all I am saying.

I disagree that it's boring because you can't just say POWWWAAAAAAHHHHHH and drive past someone. You have to think of the long game. Maybe give it the beans now and then ease up later.

In any event, I think that either strategy can bring you a good result at Spa, which is pretty awesome

I understand the complaining about the starting procedure. Think I started my race 5th and was running around the outside of the left hander of the chicane when the green light went which is far from ideal. I actually think they've been quite smart doing it though, chances of a punt fest into La Source if you're in the front half of the grid are greatly reduced

It would be easier if I could see the second left hand apex exiting Raidillon before I have to commit to my turn in point  . If you get that a fraction wrong you're in the old pit exit lane and cop a track limits penalty (though it's only 0.5s) or you're 15mph slow onto the straight (which is worse than the track limit penalty).
Nobody can see the Raidillon apex!

If I'm right in thinking you keep turning to the right, try to use the kerb to judge it. If you're on the kerb on the inside of Eau Rouge you need to start straightening up for Raidillon before the kerb ends. Sounds as if you keep turning right and then over the brow of the hill and see Raidillon wave at you as it appears somewhere over to your left

It'll just take some practice but once you're used to it Raidillon is only a problem when you get Eau Rouge wrong
I was wondering how were the Supras up there in the top 10 EMEA... This explains it

This guy is in the top 4 btw

That definitely explains how someone I'm normally pretty close to is suddenly over 2s faster! I was a bit disheartened when I saw him up in 4th - not so much now!

*the guy top with a 16.1 has also skipped it

Mid pack at Spa is an SR killer in the middle of DR B. penalties all over the place when I'm just minding my own business. Dropped from S to B in 4 races! Worst was getting rammed up the backside, hitting the car in front, and receiving a 4 second penalty.

Got back up to an A on my last race, and also finally managed a good result, 2nd place from a 5th grid. However, i was on for a clean race and trundling out the pits, before it's even given me control, it flashes up an orange SR drop. I went in the pits in 4th and came out 2nd. WTF?

You passed a yellow flag car, so you violated the no overtake rule. It's clearly your fault.

In a practice race before this week's races rotated in, there was someone in a Corvette who went all out. They started 4th, pitted, and finished right behind 1st and 2nd, who went for the no stop. I think the pit (or lack thereof) entirely depends on your pace and the car you are using. If you can get to 1st and start getting significantly faster times than the fastest no-stopper (probably 1.5 seconds), it can be possible to pit in, and exit as they are about to catch up to you; or you exit right behind them and can easilt catch up to them.

As far as I know, I think the Ford GT is one of those cars that cannot fuel save the whole race.
