Yeah, not a fan of tuning in daily races at all. Always avoid the time trial races that allow tuning for the same reason. It just becomes a competition of who can tune the best instead of drive the best. Not interested.

And to those saying "just learn the ways to tweak settings. it's simple". I have an automotive degree and have been around my fair share of tuning and racing. Just because I know how diff and suspension settings affect lap times doesn't mean I wanna sit down in GT and tweak those settings for hours on end to be competitive.

Don't let the straight sprint of Race C be a decoy, with the tire wear it gets challenging, at least for me to manage by the end. Autopolis is brutal on tire wear, and with such a rhythm needed it it worth it to give it a go. I was surprised at the number of people that were just spinning out or driving off on their own

Tuning in daily races sounds terrible, and that's before you factor in the N series car, and one of the shortest tracks in the game.

If they wanted to introduce tuning, wouldn't it make sense to do this with a Race car on a bigger track? A tuned RX-7 doesn't really say 'Race car Driver'.

That being said, any lobbies going on this week? I might do some SF sprint races at some point.

While I'm personally against tuning, I want to at least applaud PD for experimenting with the dailies. Race B could easily have been another Gr.3 race at Suzuka or Maggiore for the 100th time.

I don't want them to be discouraged for trying something different and returning back to the well-trodden path of unimaginative and repeated combos in the future.

Real racing drivers have race teams and mechanics/pit crews to tune their cars for them or help them tune their cars, some kid sitting at home playing GT doesn’t. This is not Real racing and it never will be, period. You will never know what setups anyone else is running or if they are using odd setups to exploit flaws in the game, which is usually what happens.

If tuning was so great, then most or all
Lobby races would allow it, but they don’t, because the tuning is this game sucks and 95% of people don’t wanna deal with it, they just want to race. Rarely do you find non drift/drag lobby that allows tuning. That right there shows how many people “want” to tune cars in this game.

Then its as simple as don't tune your car, drive it the way it's already at, your problems are solved!
For anybody, and everybody else that wants to, its available. No one is forcing tuning down your throat, and it's annoying for anybody else hearing "that's not fair, I just don't want to deal with that", so no one should be able to tune?

They should have Garages within the GT Sport universe.

Allow players to copy tunes from others. Players who get copied a lot earn a reputation and become Garages. Then have races allowing choices from popular garages.

Can people just not take part in a race if they don't feel like it? Sounds like you're trying to force this race down our throats.

the added weight makes the rx7 slide all over for me.

maybe i could do some tuning to change that except i don't know how or what anything does to how the car handles. im so used to driving it stock that it probably wont help. if its a one make then why change the power and weight at all? i dont get it.

edit. its discussion about the daily race so i dont see why we need to stop talking about tuning. people just need to simmer down a bit before it gets aggressive.

Yeah, so simple eh! If you don’t tune your car you’ll be handing out DR like candy on Halloween while everyone else blows by, that sounds like fun!!

As for the “everybody else”, it’s only you and 1 other guy making the argument FOR tuning, that’s it.

What’s fair about it? You’re racing against people with settings you can’t see, therefore can’t copy to keep up. Yeah, that’s super fair!!

I’d like to remind some of y’all that setups only go so far. Those with the skill to drive the cars stock already will be even more competitive.

Yeah, and in this case it’s probably worth 1.5s or more around Tsukuba, that really gives the non tuning people a chance doesn’t it!

I must have done 40-50 laps of autopolis today, my mind feels numb.

Also Race C is not the sprint race people think it is. This track is hard on tires so you have to save them a bit or you will have a hard time in the second half of the race.

Yeah, I found it was definitely about finding a car you can manage tires on for the 10 laps. I was coming from the back pretty hard the last 4 laps of my second race as others were sliding. Any car with low tire wear has a chance to be effective, beware the 4C on lap 9

I just did Autopolis twice. Started QT out with my manufacturers Corvette which I'm pretty used to by now. But it didn't feel any good. Especially since I've almost no experience on Autopolis. Switched to the Jaaag, felt a little tighter. Then I figured top speed don't matter much here so I went with something new for me; the Subaru STi. It immediately felt very much at home on Autopolis and I managed to trim my qt down to 1:48,4. Started 18th first race and by lap 5 I noticed it didn't eat tires at all! I managed to get up to 7th just by dodging maniacs and others going of in their battles. Then I made a mistake and ended up 14th. Still, I was satisfied for a new track. Besides my main goal was to try and gain some SR back.

Had another go at it immediately and this time I started from 14th. Same again, avoid those picking fights and pushing you aside and let them make their own mistakes. Suddenly I was in 6th place, a gap of 4 sec to guys behind me and 2 sec to guy in front. Decided to just try and manage the gap since I knew that 6th pos was like 1 sec faster than my QT time.

Then it happens, I start gaining on the cars ahead and the one in 4th goes off! Now in 5th with 3 laps to go. 1,5 sec to 4th. FF to last lap and I'm side by side with 911 in 3rd into the hairpin. He turns right into me.. So I lifted off, not knowing who's fault it was and just slotted in behind, now having to defend for 4th to car behind. Last sweepers went cleanly and finished 4th. One of my best races ever!

Down to 55.0 now and running out of patience with this car already, somehow it both oversteers and understeers. You also have to take extreme liberties with track limits to get the most out of this one unfortunately, a lot of those corners felt like 4 wheels in the grass. :(

I was getting short of patience with the 86 this morning and only did like 8 laps lol

Looks like i have a lot of work to do when i get home.

No dailies for me this week. Nothing really gets my attention. I agree that race A and B should be swapped around with the cars. It's makes more sense. Tsubakabakabaka is too short for the RX7. Could be kewl with the Mini. I've always thought of it as a Kart track ;).

The whole tuning thing amuses me. Tuning is subjective because a lot depends on individual driving style. What works for one person may not work for another.

Remind me again who RE Amemiya is again? Oh yeh a *tuning* company.......
