My first Daily race in a few weeks, had a go at race C, with thoughts of :nervous:....

One lap of practice at the end of qualy to get a feel, started 18th.

Stayed out of the way of others at the start, found myself 12th at the end of lap 1. Then pushed hard, passed others lap by lap, until I was up to 5th on the final lap. But then people got desperate into the Bus Stop, and got squeezed out, and down to 8th in the drag to the finish line, but still good fun!

A pity there's no strategy in race C this week. With a softer tyre, and less fuel at the start, it would've been interesting. Although it's nice to drive flat out from time to time also!

I'm thankful that A. the discover button is a thing, and B. that I'm not too proud to run someone else's livery, haha.

The one thing I noticed with most other people’s liveries is that they don’t think about where the racing number goes when you enter a race. So it always gets plastered over some part of the livery and it just looks bad. This is why I make my own.

The livery in the pic above is the perfect example. The number board partially covers 44. Nope.

It is not so easy sometimes in this regard especially with the Super Formula because the game default number spots will always interfere with a livery in some way.

Always said that the numbers option to switch off default car numbers should be applied to sport races and offline like the online lobbies because then the problem ceases to exist and if you want to have the numbers then you make the design with the numbers in those spots.

The reason I haven't published my Chillin vs Villain SF yet is primarily this that I need to tweak for the default number decals still.

...of course I put my wheel away for the time being yesterday and finally there's a Blue Moon Bay daily race. Maaan...

Well if I don't feel too lazy this week I'll drag it back out for some races there before the next cycle of races comes in.
Just use a controller! This is probably one of the few tracks that is just as fun with a DS4 as a wheel.

So is Race C just a no-stop sprint then?
Yes. Flat out with penalty stops and some random argy Bargy.

What a night. First race in C, couple of practice laps not setting a lap time. Start at the back and through the turn 1 chaos I inch, go from p18 to p11 through a sea of ghosts and flashing penalty bars. As we go through the eau rouge complex someone tries to go 3 wide and I see them and several people get limit penalties. I am inching up the field as people serve penalties. 2 spin outside in the sharp right handed, 2 off track at the long left, I am somehow ending up at p8 by end of lap. My lack of pace betrayed me and I end up DFL but wow, what a lap.

Tried again later and had found some pace, set a time. Got hit at la source but managed to stay on track and made my spots back at the penalty zone. Did get to watch the car bite a few on the curbs. Had someone push me wide at the bus stop, then as they got loose on exit I get on the outside heading to la source. The 🤬 starts running me off track, almost 100pct off by the time I manage to stop behind them. Get a massive run up the hill and they try to run me off at les coombes, swerving a block last second, and as i was prepared for that, trying to push me wide on exit there. I wait, watch them get a wide exit and a horrible run to the hairpin. So I get inside and at exit just nudge them to put wheels on the curb. They get squirrely but don't wreck so I am ok with it after their tricks. They try to dive me into the last couple of right handers at the bottom and after they hit the sand I have a clear run.

Fun race, massive amount of overtake to play with, and it is still good for gain at full blast as well if you are needing to get back into slipstream.

4am EST races at BMB are a whole different story:lol:

So, no racing for me other than FIA - I think this is the combination of races that do not interest me at all...

Race A - boooring
Race B - boooring with high chances of getting wiped out(I have seen mayhem during my only race)
Race C - not for me, it seems I don't like SuperFormula cars. Tried 2-3 quali laps

I will put in some time trial testing in order to choose my manufacturer for the official season...

My stupid butt took out the citroen. Stable, doesnt move much when hit by other cars. Big battle tank but unfortunately needed to move BB to rear for a bit better turning. Was having to brake a hit too early when surrounded by lancers

The game has separate BoP settings for ovals that disables brake balance. So you can't adjust it in any car for race B.

Yes, I asumed that. But now read Redneckchef's post.....

I know the daily race combos have been messy the past couple of weeks, but using my alt account has helped me enjoy this game again. Gone are the days of worrying about DR & SR, now it's all about mixing it up with dirty drivers and seeing if I can survive .

Race C being Super Formula is extra bonus. Although I thought they sorted out the problem of only being able to choose one SF car over the other. Are they doing that on purpose?

Yes @MikeV27, I noticed it on the grid for the race re the race number.....As darth says, and as I usually do (haven't done dailies for a while, so I forgot lol) turn on the racing number when creating the livery, then paint/decal around the number, before turning it off again....

But as I said, silly me, and I forgot that trick! I'll adjust the numbers on the Hamstermobile later! ;)

Under no circumstances, race there with an account that you care about.
It's actually a really fun race if the outcome isn't important to you. 👍

Or you could have a main accountant that you don't care about and use that , when I started this game I just decided to go for any racing on my main account and none of this "special online race" profile , I've never been one for keeping accounts in perfect results mode though I was tempted at one stage but then never went ahead so now both get the same treatment.

Side collision penalties appear to be the most likely thing to ruin your race at BMB.
Just don't go near any of the other cars.

Had the same incident in my last race. Final lap, T1, a Viper comes flying in from 2 cars behind, and makes the corner thanks to banging off me, which in turn pushed me into the car on my right, which hit the wall. The Viper already had a 1 second penalty! I got a 2 second penalty which had to be served when I crossed the line, giving the Viper my 5th spot.

But, overall, the 2 races this afternoon were OK. Fastest lap and CRB in race one, and fastest lap in race 2, all in the Ferrari.

As someone mentioned earlier, how do people not know, or can't race on an oval?

It's a really easy combo!

Race B seems to be quite boring for some of the „top“ drivers. I just watched a top ten EMEA guy ghost to learn how to improve my laptime (currently at a sorry 43.300) but unfortunately I caught him falling asleep on the main straight and completely missing turn one. I am glad that the walls held him on the track and he was able to proceed ...
Anyway I am going to stay clean and try to maybe scratch off some 1-2 tenths. So far the Mustang for me seems to be as quick as the Lancer which seems to be the META right now.
