twice i overtake cleanly at Maggiore , twice i get punted at the hairpin , how can we trust people seriously if some just cant stomach being overtaken?

This is why it's difficult for me to take this game seriously anymore given the current state of the penalty system. I've been punted off by people missing their braking points completely and no penalties for them.

Penalty system is teaching them it's fine = idiots will continue to do it. I think it's why I'm beginning to see a pattern of drivers which shouldn't be racing at SR 99 with likely inflated DR because their dirty driving is rewarded. Most histories of punters I've checked, their average SR was B before.

Currently at 4-10 although sometimes I'll -1 or +1 depending on the car and track.

I watched the rest of his race, very erratic and pushing everyone off and kept getting punted off till 19/19, then exited at finish line. Its like everyone could see whats going on ahead. I've noticed sometimes the wrong guy gets taken out and they're like condemned down the line with everything thinking they're the poor driver.
 
Well after reading the comments I entered b race 4 times, midpack to fifth on the grid. 99 sr.
Got some bad breaks, but also good when in the last one 1-2 collided at the cereal bowl right. Took second in that one.
Took a bs pen in the second race, but it matched me top room even after that.
Still 99...Pretty good racing but you need to be faster than mid 56 mid 57 in race.
Corvette really is nice here against all the Supras.
This track can be very rough if you don’t have a good line through the key places, especially lap one.
Mistakes are not good here. You have to realize that challenging at the wrong places will place you in trouble.
By this late in the week everyone’s got strong qual. Meh.
I only raced because the mood struck and the fia combos are atrocious...
Edit I switched dri from off to minus 3 like Fanatec reccomends and it’s really nice.
At some update dri off just isn’t quite as nice.
Dri off for me was best for the longest time, but -3 on b race felt really really good.
Best lap only 56.5 tho in race and that’s just not enough...
That needs to be pace with a lower 56 or better every few laps...

I only watched the first video, but I didn't see enough ping to be a difference-maker. Based on your comment about you having hard tires & the other guy on mediums, the incident at Turn 5 looks like you hit the braking zone a tad late trying to keep abreast of him. It happens to us all. At Turn 6, you were far enough beside to hold the inside line. At turn 9, he wanted to use those medium tires to get beside you. That move might be considered a divebomb. As a whole, it looked like some good hard racing to me with some incidental contact.

I think it sounds really fun too but i havent raced because getting smashed off by people who have used the SF for 5 minutes isn't fun.

It can sound fun but if you dont get the right lobby then it is the furthest thing from it imo

I can’t picture that being fun, entering that. Usually I love those cars, but man on that track? No thanks!
 
had some good races with Race C this week - big fan of the Super Formula car and although I haven't driven Laguna Seca since GT2 probably I figured what the hell.

first race was a bit of a shambles, was having issues remembering where to brake in the final corner (!) which caused a couple of bumps, but anyone I accidentally punted I waited for and let back through. one thanked me for this by punting me off later in the race though so whatever :D

dropped down to like 84 SR as a result and got dropped in a lobby with two As (me being one), two Bs, lots of Ds and a couple of Es. one of the Es was on pole though obviously! ended up winning the race cos the only other drivers with decent pace made mistakes and I didnt, so that was good.

after that it was some good strong A rank lobbies, even had a few A+ drivers earlier today who obviously trounced me but was gaining Dr, having fun and generally the races were pretty clean - few people going wide going up the hill and then swerving back across the track to block you off, but nothing outrageous.

was well up for another session this evening too, even fired up my Twitch for a go but then I remembered that GT Sport doesn't let me play on Saturday evenings at the moment as I couldn't connect properly and couldn't get into a lobby :( was able to set a new quali time of 1:06.799 which I'm happy with (theoretical best was a 1:06.2 though, no idea how!) so not all lost, but I won't be able to race tomorrow so fat lot of good it'll do me.

keep the Super Formula races coming please Polyphony!
 
Had a couple of races last night at Laguna before I tried FIA. It was crazy. Both times I made small mistakes at the start to get dropped to the rear, but was stunned at how bad some of those drivers were. Swerving everywhere down the straights, deliberate last second blocking after running off. Complete ignorance of dirty tire effect was on as well. Finished okayish both races, but one regular contact happy nemesis was in both. Managed to be clean with him race 1. Race 2 he rear ends me at the corkscrew at least 3 times and barged me off at the last turn around lap 12 as well. Got passed by 4 cars for that. So going into the same corner lap 14 he is 1 car ahead in a draft train. I tap the guy in front to push Mr. no chill off. Guy in front was clear, no penalty to either of us. Bully finished as last car running. Decided after the race that he just doesn't want clean racing. Been barged and crashed off by him at Brands, Kyoto, Laguna Seca, Autopolis, Sarthe and Sardegna. So old leon is now on my punt on sight list, he likes it that way.

I actually feel really bad for the people I've encountered in the past and I thought I was cleanly racing them when there was probably a lot of contact in their side...
I had never seen the effect high latency has until now...

My take:
Turn 5: Too aggressive from you, that is basically a dive bomb as he was in front of you before the turn. If he sticks to the racing line which would have been his right here, you're both out. I don't really understand though why he left the door so wide open for you in the first place.

I'll admit, I missed my braking point... But it was because I couldn't see the braking markers since I drive in 1st and his car was on the way.. Not using it as an excuse, its just what happened.. But he also missed his braking point too and went wide which allowed me to get along side him for turn 6..

Had a shocking day today and slid way out of C due to not being able to find any rhythm. It’s still early days though.

I was pretty happy with this save on the last lap of this race to keep podium though!

Also. Just when you think you’ve escaped lap one carnage: :lol:

Yeah, it gets frustrating, especially when you are doing what you can to be clean, but you finally find out what the effects look like to someone on the other end. When it was SF at Spa a guy I was following got absolutely launched at the last sharp right, but there was a car length between us. I apologized after the race (it was on the last lap) but didnt wait for him. Still think it is iffy, but told him that from my end I know the computer registered a hit, but my view showed a full car length gap. What else to do at that point. I could have waited but know that I did nothing to hit him at all.

I also know I have been punted same way as the car beside me has plenty of room, and suddenly my car is hit but they didnt touch me on screen. Just have to accept it is part of it and that sometimes this will happen. Control what you can and drive as clean as you can and this mess will even out. At least you guys can both now see what happened. Shout out to a japanese player I saw waiting for an incident victim last night as well. Only other person i have seen waiting to redress all week. Sporting drivers still out there. Go Tubs GT, you made me smile for that.
 
Another penalty whinge, but I'm not sure what else you're supposed to do to get one. I count three potential infringements the algorithm can call (Cut track, lead car turning in, pushing car infont all 4 wheels off track) and all are missed. This guy's dad must work for PD.



Aside from that a pretty good combo this week. Frustrating bouncing off sausage kerbs at the beginning but nicely rewarding once I got the hang of it.
 
@pennanton yep they should have got a penalty for that, once of a time they would have done, not really sure what pd have done to the penalty or how or why it's been changed to this. It is a mystery.

Sure it wasn't perfect and you could exploit it a bit by intentionally driving off the track after a collision but at least incidents like that one would have been punished then and that was a better system than letting people push others off the track constantly with just a small chance of a 1 second penalty, which appears to be what we have now.

I think it’s happened to me once now, in nearly 500 races! That a driver who hit me and ruined my race waited at the end for me to pass to cede the position. I thought it was very cool. I’d do the same if I made that kind of mistake. In fact I’ve tried a couple of times to give a position back, but both times the guy tried to punt me in retaliation as I tried to let him pass later. It’s nice to see when people “get it” though and can play with some sportsmanship.
 
One good thing the come out of the lockdown my DR. Think im finally hooking things together. Started with GTS at Christmas, first time racing on a "sim" type game. Upgraped to a wheel about 6 weeks. Wow they are amazing! T300 I got . Thanks for all the info and video you guys share. See you on track soon i hope.

I hit someone off on the last turn on race B today. I waited at very outside of T1 for him. But thought then, he probably didnt even notice and thought id spun off.

I did some time trial testing for next week’s race C. Looks like I’m going with the Atenza for Interlagos. I found I was the fastest and most consistent in that car. Never used it before either. Next runners up would be the Mustang, then the AMG. For me anyway. I can’t keep from spinning out in MR cars lol
 
Well this was a first, didn't expect it, most pretend they are going to do it and then give room so partly my fault I suppose. :indiff:

I don't think it's an open/shut case. I'd need to see the replay from the other driver's point of view with control inputs before making any judgement. I've reviewed many replays of similar incidents only to find that it was a case of overdriving (innocent error) rather than deliberate mischief.

Tried 1 Race A this morning. I quit on turn 2. Should have quit earlier.

Every car was pushing their way through, never letting off, even with contact they keep pushing the car out of the way. It was very different from all my other races this week, which were excellent. All SR 99 grids. Very different level of "driving" on the weekends.

Crappy, but seen a bit of that this week. I know the last hit actually kept them on track as it only counts going off at the red area around the sausage. Still a crap way to end it. I did see an obvious cut at the corkscrew by I think @Lion-Face in a stream and it didn't give a penalty then so it seems like there are some inconsistencies there like at Sarthe.
 
Bad drivers I all ways thought it was drivers on the DS4 controller trying to stay on the track , but its seems to be commutations with the servers or bad internet connections is giving bad frame rate . We see in the beginning line up everyone’s connections to the servers , but after the green flag it’s anyone’s guess. . Knowing you are passing someone with bad frame rate you might enter the pass differently . Maybe there are fewer bad drivers just more novice.

GTS is not the real world thats why you can race again and again, the Black Flag is to keep everyone safe so you can go home after one Race.

The initial turn left was possibly up in the air, whether intentional or not usually results in the penalty but I’m not going to lose sleep over that. He had all 4 off at the corkscrew which you’ll just have to take my word for. It was more the unsportsmanlike act that sent me off after this. Lost the spot, lost the line and proceeded to hip and shoulder me off when he knew he botched it.

Situations like these are where drivers like him need to understand they’ve made the mistake, they’ve lost and they need to wear it. I was catching him over a second a lap. He knows what he did as he did a celebratory wiggle across the line just after the video cuts.

It's the hip and shoulder I'm not sure of. I've been the victim of similar incidents, but on checking replay it was evident the other driver had been trying to steer away from my car but the loss of control was negating their inputs. It would have been nice if he'd given the place back though as it was his error that put you off track regardless of whether it was intentional or not.
 
I have to remember not to qualify. I'd just like to race at/from the back, with no fear of anyone behind me.
Deliberately dropping positions at the start is doable, but I half can't be bothered.

I'll jump in this 430 race at the Lake.
