I hate the FWD cars as well. They don't seem very balanced to me. Other drivers might be better with them than me, but they just don't work for me. So, I've been trying my favorite FR cars. I set a 2:05.9xx in the Mustang & got set in 3rd to start. I got dropped into B/B after several races where I got divebombed & the perpetrators got no penalties . So, if you get frustrated that you can't beat those FF SOBs, just keep practicing & find a car that handles for your driving style.

I normally don't post race summaries for dailies but after my dismal and very frustrating showing in this past weekends FIA races, I kind of feel like I belong again. As of yesterday, I was extremely frustrated with myself and the game, feeling like I might have hit a wall of some sort. My DR was again in danger of falling to C and I wasn't having a good time of things.

I tried a few Race B's in the RCZ as it's obviously the META and I used to be kind of okay at this track. But there's just something about the RCZ, I don't find it fun to drive. It feels like I'm always fighting with it, for some reason. This morning I switch to the Audi TT and after a few laps start approaching my RCZ time. Pretty soon, I set a new time with the TT and go try a few races. I hang with the mid-field as I develop more confidence and consistency with the TT. Then I start creeping up to some top 5 finishes. I finally take a podium. I take a break for a few hours and help my wife with a few chores, watch some TV, go pick up something for dinner.

I come back and try another race half-expecting to get my butt handed to me and am quite pleasantly surprised with one of the better races I've had in a while. With a Brazilian, no less. I don't know about any other NA racers but I personally have had very bad experiences with Brazilian drivers online. I hate to make broad statements about an entire country but it really does seem like they all want to be Senna and think hyper-aggression is the only way to race. Anyway, I start this race P5 directly behind two Brazilian drivers. At then end of L1, I overtake one in a RCZ and then overtake another in a Bugatti going into T1 of L2.

(I know I bumped the RCZ with my rear bumper coming out of the turn and I only made the second overtake because the Bugatti gave me space, probably too much space.)

The Bugatti driver is glued to my tail for the entire next lap. He had ample opportunities to punt me, divebomb me, barge pass me but he did none of those things. He kept close the entire lap looking for an opening. Unfortunately for him, I open up a little bit of distance between us in the final turn of L2 then put in a final lap that was faster than my qualifying time was at the time. It was also enough for the fastest lap of the race!

On top of all that, I got a friend request from the Bugatti driver and he gave me a "much respect" after the race. If more races were like this, I don't know if I'd ever put down the controller. Honestly, I'm okay with finishing P12 if I know I put in my best effort and just got out raced. But hey, I now have a Brazilian friend! And that makes me happy!

I use hood cam in races, I just like this view in replay to see my wheel inputs better to see when I counter steered too much or not enough.
I use that view to, literally, "get in top of the wheel". When I know it's going to be close heated battles, I need to see how close I am to the car ahead, apexes and further up the road for mishaps, set ups and defense.

Anyway, I'm still not tempted to race any more this week. AuotpoLisa, until next time, curvy lady.

Yes, the data published by that site is based on the given DR on a day, and it 'freezes' the day, so the latest line is the latest value, and any prior day (login days, not calendar days) will stay 'frozen' while the latest line could be the current day... so any change in that line is the impact from one race to the next, if you look at it immediately after a race. I think the update time for what is a 'login day' is GMT +0 or so, as I will usually see a 'new day's' data around 7 or 8 PM US Eastern time, even if 'mid-session' for the evening.

So the way to see any given race's impact on the DR is just to monitor the change in the latest day's value, from one race to the next. There is no resource that I'm aware of to see it on a race by race basis (though you can see SR on a race-by-race value on the other website https://gtsport.r1s3.net/user/10410461 (my PSN ID... replace it with your own)). But I've found this website does not update as quickly as Kudosprime, which is nearly instantaneous after a race result is confirmed.
You can use GTS Companion, the app for your phone. If you update it between races you see the change right away.

Morning everybody! I dont know how are you guys but Im really missing Mount Panorama/gr3 combo. Race C 8-9 -10? laps, all tyres available, hards mandatory, fuel multiplier high enough to nostopper is impossible... Mister Yamauchi I know you reading this forum:)

Race B in a sea of one make cars in a A/S lobby looking to get closer to A+, i like to stand out from the crowd a little. Taking this to the track today.

I was using the 458 on Race B and basically trundling round in midfield, having some fun but not competing.

I thought I (C/S) wasn't good enough that the car made much difference.

This morning bought the RCZ just to see.

In the first race and qualifying during the entry period, I took a second off my quali time, my first ever pole, my second ever win and also a rare fastest lap. Guy in the Viper in second was defending another RCZ in third, so I just drove away and won by ~8 seconds.

All feels a bit cheap, even though the were plenty of other RCZs against me.

I really can't get Autopolis, hopefully I'll get a few races in there this week though, racing against others always seems to help more than just driving it solo or against the AI.

Went in with the NSX as it's my only 2016 car, had run some laps but avoided setting a time so started 18th of 19, race went pretty smoothly, profited from some others going off ahead and ended up finishing 11th. A Swiss driver apologised to me after the race, he'd given me the tiniest of taps at the hairpin on one lap, and had held back so I stayed ahead, he'd got past a couple of laps later, but ran off the road a couple of laps from the end meaning I got back past, and although he nearly caught me, he didn't quite get back past. Nice guy, hope I get to race with him again.

I'll probably run another one from the back before I start qualifying, looks like T1 is a bit crazy in the mid pack though. Not sure if I'll try B this week, I do like Maggiore, but the FFs are silly dominant, and I still refuse to drive one, although it is fun to race among them as the underdog FR or MR.

Man, just got done with some race C attempts. All pretty solid and good racing except for 1 guy in 1 race who was all over the place, swerving, sliding and blocking under braking. He eventually spun himself out so it was all good.

But holy heck, I finally took out the Lexus I bought. It isnt lighting things up down the straights, but it has good brakes, super stable and agile and it is really easy on tires. I was able to hit my GTR qualifying time first lap learning the car. It is so much nicer to drive through the turns and it doesn't feel like it is trying to kill me. I do lose a little bit at time on the main straight but if you nail the final turn for a great launch or are in the slipstream it doesn't matter.

If you are looking to get a GR. 2 car definitely aim for the '16 Lexus. Doesn't have the understeer of the GTR and was just really solid. Still able to be within 0.5 of my best lap time on lap 12. Never been that good at the end on tires unless my first half was a write off in hellish traffic. Love this new car.

NSX is better for quali, but for race Lex is the best:) I always use it when there is gr2 combo. I won in it at Spa in exhibition, I won in it at Catalunya this Nations season, and I won in it at Autopolis this week, also podiums almost every race... Yeah Lex is good:)
Edit: I made 6000km in this car so far...

Aha, I was just wondering if I'm the only one to discover that the Lexus is the only driveable Gr2 car. At least with the hards. Strangely enough, I only saw one guy using it yesterday. GTR and NSX are just like driving on ice, only worse. Probably bad setups.

Same experience for me. Had a low 1.39 with the GTR (and TCS on:yuck:) Could reproduce that maybe 2/10 laps.
With the Lexus I am now driving 8/10 laps faster than that with TCS off.

Stop advertising.

Hmmm I’ll have to try the Lexus!

been running the GTR with some traction control - 1.39 Qualifying. Usually finishing 4th-7th in race.

Haven’t been able to keep the NSX on the track for more than a couple of warms up laps, so haven’t raced it yet, although I get a little more out of it for sure.

The newer Lexus is nice for racing. :)

It's always been this way with the newer Gr2 cars. Honda fastest but hardest to drive, the Lexus slowest but nice to drive and the Nissan is in the middle and occasionally as fast (maybe even faster in some races).

The difference is small though so use the one you are most comfortable with is definitely a plan when racing. ;)

Honestly, I wonder how much better it would be if more of the Sport Mode races in general, including both the daily races and FIAGTCs (sans the Manufacturers Series) were just one-makes, making them more of a driver's competition rather than a matter of picking/having the right car. I think that's why I usually enjoy Race A so much. On top of this, I'd really love to see more groups in the Manufacturers Series than just the usual Gr.3 and Gr.4, even if it meant the possibility of some automakers being omitted while others are added.

I just like how in the Manufacturers Series, you see a much more diverse field of cars, because you're effectively locked into the cars you picked for that season/stage. Heck, I wouldn't even mind if they did something similar to F1, where they merge the Manufacturers Series and Nations Cup into a single championship, much like how F1 has both the drivers and constructors championships going on simultaneously, as I'd compare the former to the Nations Cup and the latter to the Manufacturers Series. In this regard, you could even be forced to select some N-Series machines, maybe even multiple depending on what N-Classes are going to be part of a given season.

I also could see why PD wouldn't want to have BoP go on a race-by-race basis - that'd be a ton of car/track combinations to test. I'm sure if solely using AI to test cars was a realistic option, without any human driving/testing, they'd do that.

EDIT: I sincerely believe the issue of just picking meta cars would be solved if more races were either one-makes, or worked more like the Manufacturers Series, where you're locked into a given set of cars for some time. At any rate, I'm hoping PD is taking tons of notes from the various Sport Mode races - as well as the various championships - as I think ranked online for any game is a great way to collect data on what's popular, and what may need buffs/nerfs. Just look at Pokemon, for example: the ability Prankster was very popular from its introduction in Gen V, and in Gen VII, it was nerfed so that a move that had its priority boosted by this ability would fail if used against a dark-type species. Another example being Leech Life, which was a complete joke of a move until Gen VII, where its base power was boosted four-fold!

No way, the fun of mixing it up between brands is inherent to racing and I wouldn't want a spec-race only series, unless it was a specific one in addition to the current Daily and FIA races.

Drove the RCZ a couple of times today on Race B but the more I drive it, the more I realise I hate it. The TT is only a bit slower but in my opinion, significantly more pleasant to drive. Much prefer pretty much any other car but its no fun being walked past by RCZs every race.

I don't think there's much else for me this week, Race A is carnage and I just cannot get on with Autopolis, no matter how many times I try. I appreciate that Gr.2 on controller is not ideal but for some reason I cannot stay consistent or even remotely fast on that track. Have been trying the Lexus as I find it easier than the NSX but still frustratingly slow.

Think I'll keep trying with Race B and try to get more WRX/Viper wins. Maggiore is such a good track.

I was close to giving up too yesterday, I struggles with Lago Maggiore. Similar as you, I had to use the Meta.
I was closer to your initial QT with the Audi, then give a try to RCZ and improved my time a little. Did a few races with another car and was hard for me to keep the rhythm against others. Had to switch back to RCZ, got a podium and a win but not a lot of fun with that car.

I have to ask, how people married with kids manage to squeeze more gaming time from wife?

Same for me. Not with that amount of advantage vs p2-p3, but yes for the not so exciting time racing with the RCZ.

Converted wife to a gamer with her own tv/ps4

Kids Bedtime = game time!

Help more around the house when she gets grumpy hehe

hmmm something weird happened with my quote for reply, but my post is in reference to the question of game time with wife n kids hehe

Got my 14th win a moment ago, with Race A. It was a clean Q2/P1, too, with me taking the lead on the first lap, when the pole-sitter went a little too wide, and got a little sandy at that second turn that comes after the first checkpoint. He came a bit close a few times, even going two-wide into that same turn, but I stayed in first for the remainder of the race.

EDIT: Come to think of it, it seems like my last win was in Race A, too, with that Peugeot 208 one-make at Alsace.

I'm married but don't have kids. During the day it's easy, my wife always has some project or rearranging or some things she's always working on. As long as I occassionally come out and check on her, move a few heavy things, I'm good. It also helps that's she's a bit of a gamer, as well. It's evenings when she wants to hang out, have dinner, watch a movie, stuff like that.

Also, as I got more comfortable with the Audi, I took more than a second off my RCZ time. So, I'd definitely recommend finding something that you're comfortable with that also fits the track in question.

I think my best time at Race B is 2:05.9xx, with the TT Cup, but when I tried entering a race, I was second-to-last, and was also one of only three cars that wasn't an RCZ! Surprisingly, a Corvette was Q2.
