Sounds awesome. I’m in the same region more or less. PNW. Should be free just about anytime. Nervous/excited this will be a first for me. Car gr3-gr4 and track we can pick on the fly? Or if anyone has some suggestions

i agreed to this being hungry. I have no doubt I will be full when all is said and done. Happy to have to opportunity to race someone if that skill level. Hoping I can learn a few things, maybe make some good moves and not choke on that pie.

I got winner.

Sounds good to me man. And for all I know, you may kick my ass, so I’ll bring my fork with me as well. :)

How does 1v1 work online?
Do you open a lobby? So is it possible to do like @Jwptexas and have a full lobby of guys taking turns racing 1v1?

Yup, as long as only two people click the green check mark to enter, only two people start the race at that time. The rest could spectate.

You would have to turn on the penalties, because there's a really simple way to win a 1 on 1 at Big Willow. :mischievous::banghead::lol:

That’s why it’s only 1 lap races, and best 4/7 with rotating pole. It’s the most fair way to do 1v1, and no one ever falls to far behind because you restart after each/lap race. :)

Is Race 3 at Spa with mandatory pitstop?
Because I didn't see anything there however I saw several people pitting.
Good race overall, bad placing though, BUT I knew this race is for experts.
The amusing thing in that race was this Brazilian passing me twice after screwing up in his faster Toyota JGTC just to succumb to his nerves in the last lap with me on his arse and losing it in one of those turns.

Also on the subject of replays being in Automatic I used to just use Automatic thinking, well the top drivers all use it so why not? A lot of the wheel setups say it's in Automatic but it's really in manual but I'm not sure why this is? DS4 users being in manual it'll say manual for sure.

Hi all, I have been lurking on this site for while.

I too noticed that most others were using AT (automatic) based on replay mode. I thought it was a bug until I saw one or two other in MT mode. It did not meet my expectation based on what I have read and observed on YouTube advice and lap guides. I run in mostly B lobbies that have a mix of the other DRs.

Is it true that the wheels mistakenly mask the AT/MT setting? If so it would make more sense as I expected the top A+/S drivers to be using MT. It would also make sense if most A+/S drivers had wheels and hence masked the MT setting.

So what do you guys use? AT/MT? Do most top A/A+/S players really use AT?

I use MT on the Dualshock 4 controller. It is what I am accustomed to and I admit every race I blow a shift or downshift but overall it gives me some more control.

I actually have no idea if a wheel masks MT in replays. I never heard that before and I'm a DS4 user myself. I'm also in DR.B, so my observations are somewhat limited. However, all those qualifiers stated, downshifting to help rotate your car is a pretty common technique and I see it all the time in replays of top players. To the best of my knowledge, you can only do that in MT. So, I'm assuming that most top players do use MT and you're probably right that the display gets masked in the replays somehow.

That's why I try to avoid using M/T whenever possible. I screw up the shifts too, which sometimes causes a crash. :banghead:
If my lap times are close with the two transmissions, I'll go with A/T.
Today's race at Willow Springs is a good example. For me, M/T is only .02 faster. In the race, I'll certainly use A/T.
But with some race combos, M/T is a lot quicker. Might as well try both. 👍

It's not specifically in the rules, but it is technically required. Both tyre types are mandatory (like it says in the article), so you're going to need to stop to swap from one to the other...
I realized that when people were pitting.
However, I didn't remember reading that in the description.
Even after finishing the race, I went back to read anything in the regulations and it didn't say it.

That's why I thought it was weird that the game was putting me Hard tires in the front and Mediums on the back.

Looking forward to racing Spa this afternoon. These cars feel so fast here! I only had time to run two qualy laps before work, but I think a 2:05.9xx is a good place to build from and seems to match up okay in the Americas.

I have a question for y'all. How does the false start check work on a wheel using manual transmission? Do I hold the shift up while revving like in the F1 games? I'm sure I'll figure it out after a couple races, but if you can save me from looking like a complete idiot before I do it is appreciated.
