I don't think this is true. Kaz
said last year there's a team organising settings and creating events. To quote:
If left up to AI, we might see Fiat 500 la Sarthe and Gr.1 Tsukuba.
Yeah, but I'd just input some parameters, like excluding some car/track combinations, and creating certain groups of cars to be used in some daily races, like that Gr.1 race at Fuji that only permitted the Group C racers.
Honestly, it's like the team that makes the daily races thinks GT Sport's car list is much smaller than it actually is. Hopefully GT7 won't require a team to create new daily races all the time, and they could simply have a given car/track combination for every day or week, etc. of a given year and could have special combinations for certain motorsport events. For example, for a weekend-day in mid June, there could be a race at Le Mans with just modern LMPs (i.e. TS050, TS030, 908, both R18s, and the 919), or at the time of the year when the N24 is going on, there could be a Gr.3 race at the 24h layout of the Nurburgring.
I think a reason why the races in GTS are set manually is because of how there's always the possibility of more content being added, and they don't want to set a race for every day/week because that'd risk neglecting a certain car or track that could be added as DLC. If GT7 doesn't have any add-on content, I would hope that there would not be a need to set the races manually, and we could have far more diverse daily races.
But, even if there were add-ons for GT7, I wonder if there ought to be a set of daily races that use content from the "vanilla" version of the game - and has that aforementioned approach where there's a certain event for every day/week of the year - and then there could be a "Special Daily Race" that could feature added content. But I suppose even that would depend on how much they plan to add for GT7, which could be quite a lot if GT5, GT6, and GTS are anything to go by.
I really do think PD has the capabilities to design races using AI, especially if they put in parameters to prohibit certain combinations (e.g. Gr.1 @ Tsukuba) and create "sub-groups" within each class to make things interesting. I'm just sick of the daily races in GT Sport seeming like the same old stuff. But I suppose we haven't actually had the 86/BRZ at Big Willow, have we? Maybe I'll still give it a swing.
