Never race dailies on Mondays if you care about SR or DR.

It'll be better tomorrow, I guarantee. People don't bother practicing anything and just hit "Enter race" and see what shakes out, by tomorrow all those muppets will have learned the track a bit better at least so it won't be absolute carnage.

Yeah, I drive dailies every Monday and know it’s not a great day for them BUT this is a different level. If someone fishtails in front of you and you can’t avoid a tap, SR down. That happens all over the place on this track. And if you’re near the front on turn 1 you’ll get punted and if you hit the player in front as a result, expect a 4 sec penalty. I don’t think either of these things will disappear during the week. I hope you’re right and they do get better, but I’m not optimistic.

Ugh, why’s it always have to be the BRZ/86? Why not something like the Volkswagen Golf Mk.VII? For me, this is just more evidence the daily races are designed using AI. Oh well, I wanted to play some other games in my backlog, anyway.

I still might try Race A, though, we’ll see.

I don't think this is true. Kaz said last year there's a team organising settings and creating events. To quote:

“The settings for the Daily Races are done by the Operations Team within Polyphony Digital,” explains Yamauchi. “They are the ones that come up with the events, so I will give that feedback to them!”

If left up to AI, we might see Fiat 500 la Sarthe and Gr.1 Tsukuba.

The A race will be my hangout this week.
The 86 is a great great car to drive in sport mode. They put a lot of effort into the development of this cars physics and it really shows.
Can we run custom liveries? If so I’m gonna make a NASCAR one :::evil::::)
I’m over Suzuka. I will dabble at Spa maybe...
The Dallara cars are the best there imo.

Any race with a specially provided car never allows custom liveries. This is a real disappointment, so many beautiful but wasted designs must exist on N-class cars especially.

I use the cones as blue dots all the time, there is no shame in using whatever driving aids help you enjoy the game more. 👍 I tell you what, let’s go 1vs1, no aids for you, and I’ll use all of them, and we’ll see who wins. ;)
I would love that chance. I know some/ most people are faster with the aids on. I wasn’t talking about speed but skill. Looks like I hit a nerve with this one.
Ready to lose but hoping for that one on one.

I miss that one make around Maggiore Centre with the 500! We need a new tier Fiat 500 race, since they did that silly BOP with the Ford GT how's about 500's with increased speed around Stage X?

Speaking of driver aids, when I watch a replay every other car seems to run in AT. That can't be right, can it, and must just be a bug in the replay system? I presume the majority of people do run in manual....
(To be clear, it doesn't bother me at all, just something I noticed.)

I never drove here before this week?
I’m not too proud to use whatever helps me compete.
I have a hard time learning tracks.
Anyways this week I ran abs weak tcs 3 bb0 line cones and markers on.
I have a beef with anyone telling guys not to use aids. The line guide for example?
Number one, best tire wear saver period, number 2 very very efficient, number 3 you can be plenty fast on it, number 4 it contains margin for error, number five in equal cars it’s very tough to pass someone using it, pretty impossible on most tracks if they are driving properly.
these are reasons I use aids when needed, the line aid will make you soooo smoooth, trail brake then squeeze the gas. Tcs teaches you a lot too.
When I first got this game I made the mistake of listening to others instead of trying things for myself, no more. Now I just test like a real racer would.
I raced a lot using m4 and mustang, lines and tcs, that track is an absolute joy. Light touch very slow on the controls, the aids made that possible, to find the flow, and just how easy it can be from the cockpit cranking out consistent race laps.
Sorry for the asshole comment I must’ve been in a mood.

Actually, I think a race selection designed by AI would catch/flag those and wouldn't let them happen as often unless it was specifically coded to do otherwise.

And my late addition to the aids walk discussion - the only reason I turned cones off is I got tired of avoiding the ones that got knocked onto the track. The last straw was a set of double cones that got pushed onto the racing line, I hit them head on and did a full Mercedes CLR at Le Mans flip.

If I had known then what I know now, I would have saved that replay and uploaded it to YT...

Looking forward to giving this week's daily races a go later (after some quali).

Enjoyed last weeks events, got back to 99 SR after the disaster that was the daily races from the week before (SSRX I'm looking at you!)

Pleased to say my DR reached it's highest level ever after finishing 3rd in a race at St Croix yesterday.
Feels like I have been making gentle progress, particularly with my racecraft.

Have a good week of racing everyone!

No worries LOL I was in a mood like that on track half my races last week! Wish I hadn’t done many things I did and regret some of my comments here and in the game also! No worries :).

Edit as an aside I’ve put a lot of hours into this game and I can run quick sometimes on certain combos. This week on BOTH RS01 b race AND M4 and Mustang on the c race I found more info in the ffb and learned a lot about what it’s telling me and this is AFTER a LOT of time spent on wheel.
I’m very very impressed. Personally I have a tendency to cause a bit too much loading on the tires and chassis in ffb it means I build it up or fight it too much-it makes it a bit heavy this way (4-10 on my wheel)
Learning St Croix with aids from the get go really got me into a flow and listening very very carefully to the tires and engine really helped me. Slow and light feel letting the car run out more vs forcing it around.
It’s a big difference. For example I was turning a few high 45 low mid 46 on the line no or very very little audible tire noise running that way.
I think without using aids just flyin seat of pants I never would have learned that.
Also I have gained an awful lot of enjoyment of gr4.

I know how it is to feel...

I don't really need aids and usually ignore them(apart from ABS/TC), but it's nice to have them as a backup just in case. I keep all turning markers(cone/dot/line) on and the red 'BRAKE' light too, but cones are just a guide, blue dots are barely even visible to me, I completely ignore the racing line and look to the track ahead, but this is only because I have been playing Gran Turismo and other racing game for most of my life(started GT4 when I was 3)
However this is only because I don't have enough time to go scoping out braking points on every single track, just use it as a rough idea. Cones are especially really helpful because I can do stuff like 'brake halfway between braking cone and apex cone'. I also don't claim to be the most skilled drive here lol, I'm lucky to maintain a B and you guys are much faster than me...
That said, I still need to learn how to drive without TC and how to countersteer with wheel, part of the reason why I want to get back into Drifting, that should teach me a lot about how to prevent sBinnalas.

It takes practice, just like anything.

Make a custom race with the AI on the highest difficulty setting on a track and car combo you know well and go out and practice driving close to other cars.

Learn how much earlier you need to brake, get comfortable being close to other cars.

As for being punted you can try being aware of them and going wide to stay safe but you never know when you get divebombed from the back of the s/f straight. It's just one of those things. Don't let it mess with your head.
Yep, I can drive cleanly(I did this technique a lot when I started with wheel) but I tend to crack a little bit under pressure and I'm not sure how to race clean and very fast.
I've actually kind of gotten used to the punting at this stage. I can safely say I have never done a 'revenge punt' or even a normal punt for that matter. I usually just accept that it is inevitable and am more dissapointed when I make mistakes and lose positions than getting punted to dead last.

I would say I'm still in the learner phase, there are a lot of techniques I'm yet to master. On a good day, with a lot of practice, I might be decently fast(ranked ~1000 in region for Tokyo Gr.2 few weeks ago) but these are few and far between. That said, it's not like the quality of racecraft of some GTS players is anything to write home about.

It’s actually faster in this game with all driving aids turned off, except ABS, so I will actually be at a disadvantage on the whole. When are you free? Let’s set it up for some night this week, I’m in the NA region. How about tomorrow night? We’ll stream it so everyone can watch. :)

We’ll do it like this, one lap races, rotating pole, best 4/7. What car/track should we use? Gr.4 maybe, it’s a nice middle ground between road and race cars? What track would you like to use? :)

This seems like the perfect proving ground for Fiat 500s round Special Stage Route X (as suggested by @Racing_Miku). Comfort hard tyres, of course

I’d like to add, I think unless your name is Fraga, we are all learners here.
I just share what’s workin for me.
For me, I find just saying it’s just practice in a game like this is not enough.
Practice with purpose, for me practicing the wrong lines or techniques or not applying a bit of basic fundamental ideas is worse than no practice.

As long as you race cleanly, do whatever you want!

Amen. If the kids would get it through their skulls that win counts means nothing & you can have crash rooms in the lobby, then sport mode might be enjoyable.

The more markers on the track the better, IMO.... it's all fun and games though until somebody wipes out the cones you've been using  I keep them on but I don't set up my braking points using them anymore.

This problem is most noticeable at Big Willow. Cones are all over the desert, not at trackside where you need them. I've braked early for some of those corners before.

IKR? All PD has to do is apply BoP & let the garage cars out to play.

And even Fraga is still learning. Most of us share our info on car choices & technique for the information of others. If one technique you try fails, try what Groundfish suggested. Or Pigems. Or....

Turn off all your damn aids. It makes me think of a child that cannot the their shoes. It’s ok when your learning,I guess? But then again creates bad habits. It’s hard to take pride when a computer is doing half your driving. I’m sure your fast, but skilled...

I don't think this is true. Kaz said last year there's a team organising settings and creating events. To quote:

Yeah, but I'd just input some parameters, like excluding some car/track combinations, and creating certain groups of cars to be used in some daily races, like that Gr.1 race at Fuji that only permitted the Group C racers.

Honestly, it's like the team that makes the daily races thinks GT Sport's car list is much smaller than it actually is. Hopefully GT7 won't require a team to create new daily races all the time, and they could simply have a given car/track combination for every day or week, etc. of a given year and could have special combinations for certain motorsport events. For example, for a weekend-day in mid June, there could be a race at Le Mans with just modern LMPs (i.e. TS050, TS030, 908, both R18s, and the 919), or at the time of the year when the N24 is going on, there could be a Gr.3 race at the 24h layout of the Nurburgring.

I think a reason why the races in GTS are set manually is because of how there's always the possibility of more content being added, and they don't want to set a race for every day/week because that'd risk neglecting a certain car or track that could be added as DLC. If GT7 doesn't have any add-on content, I would hope that there would not be a need to set the races manually, and we could have far more diverse daily races.

But, even if there were add-ons for GT7, I wonder if there ought to be a set of daily races that use content from the "vanilla" version of the game - and has that aforementioned approach where there's a certain event for every day/week of the year - and then there could be a "Special Daily Race" that could feature added content. But I suppose even that would depend on how much they plan to add for GT7, which could be quite a lot if GT5, GT6, and GTS are anything to go by.

I really do think PD has the capabilities to design races using AI, especially if they put in parameters to prohibit certain combinations (e.g. Gr.1 @ Tsukuba) and create "sub-groups" within each class to make things interesting. I'm just sick of the daily races in GT Sport seeming like the same old stuff. But I suppose we haven't actually had the 86/BRZ at Big Willow, have we? Maybe I'll still give it a swing.

Yeah, it's real. I just got my Q time at Big Willow to #11, with an automatic transmission. :)

I'm not sure why they don't just piggy back off career mode and use those combinations for the daily races... some pretty sweet races in career mode just AI sucks so bad.

Also on the subject of replays being in Automatic I used to just use Automatic thinking, well the top drivers all use it so why not? A lot of the wheel setups say it's in Automatic but it's really in manual but I'm not sure why this is? DS4 users being in manual it'll say manual for sure.

Sounds awesome. I’m in the same region more or less. PNW. Should be free just about anytime. Nervous/excited this will be a first for me. Car gr3-gr4 and track we can pick on the fly? Or if anyone has some suggestions

i agreed to this being hungry. I have no doubt I will be full when all is said and done. Happy to have to opportunity to race someone if that skill level. Hoping I can learn a few things, maybe make some good moves and not choke on that pie.
