Probably jinxing myself, but I kind of crushed it on N24 this week (in other words, I didn't mess up). :D

Thanks for keeping me safe Hyundai. 👍

I want to say to all of you who can do the Nurburgring without crashing, I salute you. You have the memory of elephants.

I'll be having much more fun in this game once I get it down.

It takes me FOR EVER to learn any track.
I use the line aids provided by the game under driving options.
I’m still using aids on Nord but getting closer to turning things off.
It’s far far easier for me to use the line cones and markers to learn.
It would take anyone forever imo to just try to figure it out and remember by yourself.
I like modern technology and driving aids.
They help me have more fun.
The great thing is after I’m comfortable enough to go without I seem to end up doing really well because I learned fundamentally the right way around right from the beginning.
At first in this game I tried to do it myself (you know figure it out)
I admit it takes me a looooong time to get to know a track...
With the aids it makes it sooooooooo much faster to find some flow. Jmo

I use the cones regularly, maybe I should use the line aids for this one

I screwed up the last turn. No question. But doesn't 2.5 seconds seem wildly disproportionate?
I certainly didn't gain an advantage.
Another PD screw up, in my opinion.

The worst part is that the leader messed up the next turn, badly. I was right on his bumper when I reached the penalty zone. 🤬

The Bathurst pitlane entry is another place where you can pick up a 2.5 second short-cut penalty even if you gain little/no time... can't think of any other places where the penalty is as extreme.

I have absolutely no proof, just a feeling but the times that show how far a car is ahead and behind seem off on Nurburgring this week.

Well race B is just what I expected a terribly frustrating affair.
I went in at 99. I did not complete turn 1 before receiving my first sr down on the day. I was like 14 or something on the grid with a 56.6 on alt.
It pisses me off that you have all these excellent qual times ahead and these guys cannot make one turn together in a race without crashing into each other ricocheting off walls and careening back into me just taking the darn turn normal.
Then later in lap one I made the mistake of taking a cars inside, they simply hit me then lost control and flew into the wall giving me a penalty...
I only wanted to join a friend for a few b races but my q time was substandard and instantly my sr was down.
I kept at it quite a few races...I used GTR M4 Mustang Megane...
The GTR drives nice but trying to enter that final turn it just can’t transition.
I kept getting Knick knack bs happening every race almost.
Finally I moved up six spots and took the win in a purple and gold Megane.
Then everyone came down on me in chat for being dirty?
Yes turn one I moved that guy outta the way, he had that coming for screwing with me in 2 previous races, too bad.
But the rest? The replays shared, I dunno what to say. Do you want me to apologize for fairly taking your inside at turn one?
You’re the people going all the way left entering a right hairpin as if you’re alone qualifying...
Was it parking it on apex a bit final turn?
Too bad I already had that .5 lead there and gotten punted by eager beaver schmucks desperate for a podium!
I’ll park it if anyone’s inside 1.5 because they can’t be trusted.
Argh sitting at 93 now.
I can’t do those qual. Everyone knows it’s a qual contest and they’ve put in time on being the super qual person.
Meh.
I dunno in all honesty I dislike the track that’s the main thing. It’s a PD “we want to trick you” design.
I hate that. Gimme a Big Willow. That’s honest. It’s not trying to hide the desert from you or create some weird unnatural turn contour.
Eeeesh I’m in a bad mood. Sorry guys, just wanted to enjoy a few b races with a cool dude, but wasn’t up to the challenge.
That pisses me off.

Seeing how dirty people are now with this iteration of the penalty system is deterring me from Sport Mode

Same here except for my throwaway alt.
B race it’s just sad the behavior in the top sr rooms.
People just don’t like getting beat, they’ll punt dive swerve block sideswipe etc etc etc.
It is 100 percent the fault of the penalty system.
Of course I usually don’t play evenings, maybe every night is always this way I dunno.
C race I just went last to 4th no pens on A sr.
Back to S now, one more c will be full S then it’s Mustang, Aston, GTR, M4 for b race.
I’m going to hold a tight line and park it on apex every time 1st and last turn.

One Race B. All TT & RCZ except me in the 86 and someone else in a Vantage. 14/15, RCZ behind me. Pole is on a 55.9. I'm last in the 56.8. RCZ behind is 57.5. Once the RCZ passes me at T1, I'm stuck behind it. Damn things are so slow out of corners. Moved up to 13th at T1 as the RCZ ran wide and a TT served a penalty.

Last lap, I'm behind the RCZ again. Final turn, it takes the inside. TT on my bumper. I go outside and get squeezed on the blue curb. TT takes the inside line. RCZ blocks a bit, so the TT can't slipstream past to the line. I finish last.

Well 8:08,957 at the Ring.I could be 1 second faster I think, but that's enough for now. I will be back in sport mode when nurburgring is back.

This is why I don’t understand everyone using the RCZ as the meta. It’s so slow out of the corners in-race. No doubt it has good speed in a straight line, but if you can get in front of it in an FR car, it’s very easy to get a lead that means that doesn’t matter.

The lobbies full of RCZs and TTs make for very frustrating racing if you get get stuck behind them.

The TT, Mebane and scirrocco don't lose much to it on the straights and the jag is a legit rwd option. Everything else gets smoked in a straight line.

I ran Race A, qualified 1:33.2 and started pole in a mixed DR room although an idiot in P2 made it toxic by constantly headlight flashing. He caught up twice but instead of making the pass, bump drafts. Maybe if he wasn't so fixated on distracting me, he might not have smashed into the wall last lap then ragequits right after, lol.

It turned out to be a win farmer that tanks their DR to beat easier opposition. I wonder how many brag about hollow wins while unaware of external stat sites telling the full story.

Seeing how dirty people are now with this iteration of the penalty system is deterring me from Sport Mode. I am probably going to wait until the next update to race again and even then there are no guarantees.

Luckily I've started pole but I've seen all kind of dirty in replays and similar to yours. Brake-checking, blocking, side swiping, ghost weaving on the straight etc. Embarrassing to watch.

Most players just mindlessly use whatever’s in the top ten.

The worst is these damn Beetle users on C race
They can go out of control at any moment in any direction..
I was just back to 90sr after three hours of bogging in last on the ring.
End of lap one I’m behind a Beetle. Whenever I start coming near it it becomes erratic like trying to block me.
If a cars erratic in front of you it wins.
I ended up tapping its rear when it braked for no reason in the middle of straight.
Then it seemed safe to overtake a bit later and it sideswiped me.
Clean lap 2 for me boom sr A.
This is a complete joke.

I used the Megane once, to try and show other players its speed. Noone used it the following rasces. I even used a GT-R, movd up several positions. Next race, the same pole sitter switched to the GT-R(me in a Scirocco) and I couldn't catch it.

in the 86, I knew I wasn't going to do any damage on the straights, but gee whiz, what I gain in braking, acceleration out of corners and carrying speed everywhere else, is negated behind that RCZ. The TTs are way better than the Pepe le'Pewgeots in the middle of the lap.

For me Megane is best time in the races. Hyundai Genesis is fantastic too in the turns and it’s sooo goood turn 1 it’s easy to defend position even if ff is faster on the straight.
I did better with Negane though because after a few Genesis laps with RCZ TT not able to overtake they all got mad and started hitting me in the Genesis which made me angry and I collected a couple pens BOOM 99 to B sr.
That’s why I’m so pissed. I’m getting back to 99, and going looking for some folks later. I’ve been studying how to give penalties.
That’s what is so maddening about this game, if you come in on NA and find a way to beat the meta all the mental midgets band together against you.
They are like a team of clones all trying to drive the same RCZ the same way, failure to conform results in outrage.
It’s all made possible because the games safety rating doesn’t work at all.
I hate to say it but it’s more fun for me to play online in the dirty rooms because everyone there is honestly playing dirty.
There’s no dishonesty in it.
@svenjurgens said that and it’s one of the best things I’ve ever heard said re this game.

Numb fingers in both index fingers for Lap 2 of N24. There's gotta be a better way. Moved up from 15th to 4th. Kept hitting the camera switch instead of a the accelerator. Couldn't feel which was which.

Was on the tail of 3rd(AMG) and 2.8s behind Me(Supra), was another Supra. Final sequence of turns before the final main straight, I lost all that time fumbling with feeling. Had to give up to get the blood flowing. Finished 5th. All three of us, finished in the same two tenths of a second.

Had my first race of the week at N24 a short while ago.
Surprisingly started 4th with what I thought was a terrible quali time of 8:28.
Let myself down with some stupid penalties in the first lap but was still 4th starting the final circuit.
Binned it on the same corner both laps, unfortunately 2nd time it ended up with me bouncing back on track and wiping someone out accidentally.
So much concentration needed for this track and so much stress in the race!
Feel like I have a love/hate relationship with this combo, enjoy it to some extent but I’m almost exhausted afterwards!

not sure why PD can't stop people with poor internet signal entering the races

Just had a race ruined with a Beetle (of course, had to be), teleporting around the screen on a signal strength of 1
Even if you don't crash into them it's massively distracting following someone who is bopping around the screen

I'll be having much more fun in this game once I get it down.

And don't forget "Circuit Experience" under "Campaign". It subdivides the Nordschleife into 11 component pieces allowing you to retry and concentrate on the trickier bits. It nicely complements the "do lotsa laps" advice.

I typically do not use cones but for this week I have left them on. I always use the yellow brick road (drive line aid).

It takes a lot of time time to learn this track. I have struggled this week but it has been one of the most interesting/rewarding/challenging weeks since I started GT Sport six months ago.

O604,

I also use the Gr3 Hyundai Genesis but almost no one else does. I picked it because it had the best power to weight ratio for the BoP'ed variant. The handling is very forgiving and it runs over curbs nicely. Now I am accustomed to it and normally can't do better with any other vehicle. It feels like one of the overlooked choices.

So, why do *you* like driving it as your Gr3 choice? How do you find it superior to the other cars?

Oh, did I congratulate you on your success with it this week? Congratulations!

Thanks for a positive spark of energy!
I’ve actually improved a lot on both C and B.
I just need to work on the temper haha.
It’s rewarding when you look at improvements over time-like beginning of week or month then end of week or month.
It might not feel like much but over time a little tenth here a little better line there...
Baby Steps.

Circuit experience for the Nordscliefe is excellent advice. Spent many hours trying to beat 3 real life friends who got the game on release, 100th of a sec in some sectors. Then PD reset the parameters, wiped our times so we had to do it again, twice ! My best lap time is 6.43.
There's a few more Mustangs on track these past few nights, kind of disappointed, if they finish ahead of me
