I'm confused, they're speeding you up instead of fighting, what's the issue? :confused: Unless the car in front is a slowpoke through the bends two cars working together are faster than one by themselves.

a) penalties are SO HARSH for almost any contact it makes me nervous

b) Now my corner entry is compromised, is the guy bumping me ready for me to brake earlier as I am approaching faster?

Just take the line I am leaving wide open and pass me, Monza is very conducive to an outside pass into Parabolica or a wide line into T1 giving an excellent exit as other guy is compromised going tight.

Bump drafting is not racing, did Mansell do it to Senna in Monaco, weather in real life or racing sims I don't think it is part of racing, ok the guy in front may be a little slower than you but this is what makes good racers stand out from the rest, they pressure, pressure pressure and force a mistake. If you lose DR for doing it then you deserve it but if you force the guy in front off the track or he gets a penalty then why play the game. I think its cheating!!

Sounds like you missing the point, you don’t just bump draft anyone, the person in front should be tad faster or of similar pace for it to work effectively, it’s clearly difficult to do that in f1 or f1 games because of the bodywork/design of those cars,
Around monza If you overtake someone of similar pace, they will catch you up by next turn and overtake you aswell, remember a daily race isn’t a 1v1 , you’re against 15 or more players, if you think you can win fighting all of them goodluck with that.

I am not forcing anyone off the track though I am giving them a slight nudge so they get a bit of a speed boost and I stay in the slipstream getting a bit of time on the person behind me.

As I have said twice now I don't do it in a brake zone or corner. Usually after a bump draft when we hit the 200m board I have already lifted to create a bit of room and then hit my normal brake marker for the turns. In addition if someone is squirrelly in corners or has shown themselves to be even slightly unstable while I am following I wouldn't do it.

At Monza so far I seem to do the most on the straight before the parabolica. You can sometimes get a really good run out of the Ascari chicane which gives you enough speed for the bump draft but not enough to make the pass before the parabolica. More so for me as I use a controller so side by side on a corner like that is nearly always my last option that I would pick.

If I think on the next time I do this I will try to remember to save the clip to post so you can see what I am doing and it's not dumping folks off track or otherwise impeding their race negatively.

You are free to your own opinions and that is fine no hard feelings either way. You race your way and I will race mine.

Yea I take you point and if it's as you say that ok with me but I take issue with the idiots how do it through corners and impossible places to pass and do force the guy in front to overshoot the braking point or apex. I guess I just try to race too clean sometimes. I know on Route x it worked the first FIA race there and then they changed it the next time the daily races was there and everyone was getting penalties.

I just couldn't get by, then my opponent hit a ghost and got a penalty, I was like how did they bump me, what happened, then I watched the replay. :confused: :banghead:



Then again I'm stuck, opponent passes another car which I clip trying to cut under but it gives them a penalty, so stupid. :banghead:

It's as if the game felt sorry for me using this car or something, normally I'd get the blame for at least the 2nd one. :lol:

Both these videos could easily go into the penalty thread, it's nonsense. :rolleyes:

I tried the mustang very smooth but I am faster in the vette. Going to give the DBR a whirl tmrw already told work not coming in because of more SNOW
so I have all day TMRW to practice with it also will try the RCF that is usually my go to when none of the other rides seem to working

Agree the Vette is faster, but I make too many mistakes in it that the slower car ends up being overall faster. At the end of the day consistency is what we should all be striving for, whether we're 1:35 aliens or 2:00 noobs.

yep agree I am not that fast or that slow in the middle probably with a lot of other people at 1.37.1 but race pace for me is low 1.39 or high 1.38 I am happy with that but agree have to be consistent 1 or 2 bad laps / penalties and race ruined
 
2nd pole and 2nd win in race C this week. Although I was at D it was much harder, due to the barging and the fast there were 17 more cars than last time. Deserved the win, though I only got it by pressuring the guy in front enough that he spun out on the last lap at Lesmo 2

I used the RCZ in 2 races before I did a qualifying run today as its easy to drive, managed to do ok from the back in the first race but pushed too hard near the end of the 2nd, actually thought it was ok and did my first qualifying runs it it then moved on to the Alfa C4 because I used it for a few season and did loads or races at Monza in it, it was a little faster than the RCZ, tried the GT-R and it a bit of a handful out of the slow corners. Last up I want to the Aston DBR9 in which I has set my fastest lap ever in GR3 at Monza, straight of it was much faster and finished up nearly 2 seconds quicker than the RCZ with maybe another second still to be found. I will park the RCZ for now and enjoy the real cars for a while.
 
Great races at Monza. Using the C7 which is solid gold.

Very easy to pic up penalties, especially Ascari as it's so quick.

Played a strange race yesterday where the guy in 4th messed up and dropped a few places (driving a Mc F1 possibly the most tail happy gr3).
He then went in the pits for 2 mins (how is that even possible?), rejoined last and carried on driving.
I fluked my way into the lead after a few drivers took each other out.
I was going through the last Ascari and he (driving last) stayed on the racing line - what an idiot! Luckily he out off the second place driver just as much.

Second race I finished 5th put promoted to 2nd with the 1 min penalties...amazing this game has been out 5 years and people don't get it

Your post is fascinating to me because I'm using the DBR9 and I have tried the Corvette two or three times. I feel like I can't control it under breaking and, as you said, it's not as good through the esses.

Full disclosure, I am not a very good driver. My driver rating is D and my sportsmanship rating is S.

With the dbr9 I'm usually starting anywhere from 12th to 15th and move up about 4-7 positions on average.

Would I be correct in guessing that to use the Corvette you have to be a more highly skilled driver?

sorry mate, replying to an old post, but just saw your reply :). I felt the Vette to be better on the brakes than the DBR9, especially after The Chase. You can go a tad bit deeper to brake and earn some time there. Down the esses, it just needs some pampering and keeping it as straight as you can. Once you do that, it’s fast all the way around The Mountain. I believe that you just need to keep trying every car and finding the one that suits your style. I am mostly a C/S driver :)

Which very nicely brings me to this weeks Race C. Yesterday I was convinced it was a disaster. I lost count of how many seconds of penalties I took and how many SR I lost. All this with the DBR 9. And then today out of sheer boredom I tried the Mclaren F1 GTR.

This thing is soooo quick on the straights!! I shaved off 1.5 seconds from my previous best quail time with the DBR. But, but, all is not sunshine in Mclaren world. On the straights, you need to brake a bit earlier because you are carrying more speed. Push it a tad bit than it likes, and it will snap back at you. With all this in mind I took it to race. And what fun this car is!! Started 11th, finished 8th, and took CRB.

The Mclaren GTR is an absolute must try at Monza.
 
Funny race C issue last night.

Have any of you ever ran into problems with the auto drive at the start of the race? Last race of the night for me, at the start, everyone is glitching like crazy. The auto drive is turning cars into the wall, then backing up, straighten out, back into the wall lol.

I was just about to quit, then the race started and everything was normal. I'm guessing it has happened before because no one quit, unless it was my issue only?? The problem was that when the race started, some cars were facing forward, others weren't (me being one of them) I was on the grid at 9 but after the start i was 13 or 14th lol.

That race was 4th of the night for me, Last 2 were with the Vette and the first two were with the Beetle, which isn't the fastest but I really like driving it. Gained some DR and easy gains on the SR. I was an S for almost a month, then dropped to a C after a 3 A races. An absolute blast and I think I'm a better dirt racer than road haha....but the SR definitely takes a hit.

Dived in to first C race after doing a qualifying and 4th on the grid so happy with my time on 1.49.5 but I know that there's another 1 second at least still there for qualifying. My time is 3.5 sec faster than I did when I first got my g29 last year as the DBR9 was the only car that had the car record in timing and it had to be the same tyre compound as it didn't show when the hard tyres were on. I know the wheel made a difference but also watching and learning from others made the real difference.

Luckily the start was ok but the guy in 5th went for the inside into turn 1 and I gave him space to get through the corner but he clipped me on the way outland got 2 sec penalty, he then spend the rest of the lap to the penalty point trying to brake test me so I would get a penalty, just why do they do this when it was his fault he got the penalty as I gave him all the room in the world. Trying to avoid him I got a track limit penalty, maybe I should have him him? Iran 4H/6M which would have worked had i watched my exits on the last lap and got out of shape went from 7th to 12th it was so close near the end but back to 9th due to the tyre penalties ahead. Lost 5 sr but so many dropped down to A I can see why everyone's complaining about the track.
 
Used the RX Vision this evening. Only had time for one quick race.

Started DR13.6k/SR99, Q12. Started on hards and tried my best to keep out of trouble, but its tough when you give loads of space to the three cars ahead trying to go through the second chicane and a Corvette punts you into the McLaren in front... avoided a penalty that time, but not the second time where he got on the brakes so early it caught me out and I tapped him, 2 sec penalty. Okay, fair enough.

Pitted after 3 laps on the hards, slapped on some mediums to see me through to the end. Came out dead last but had good pace and was back to 9th by the end of lap 5.

Then some clown punted me in the chicane again, I took out the same McLaren who was crawling through the corner, and got 4 secs for my troubles...

Ended up 12th at the end of all that, after a battle with a Corvette on the last lap where he pushed a bit hard through the final corner before Parabolica and ended up in the sand avoiding me oversteering a little!

A messy race and ended up losing 300DR and SR down to 81!!! Yikes.

More practice needed.

I... Uh... Actually out joked myself. I'm on a 49.1 too. My aim for this week was to get under the 1:50 mark. Jumped in the GTR yesterday and immediately set that 49.1 which was 1.6 seconds faster than my previous.
And you are correct, but I was only joking around. ;)

I only got that time today in the DBR9, I had discounted this car because the Vantage was so much better at Bathurst. Just got to remember horses for courses.
I knew you were joking, as we've raced I knew you must be about my time. I actually thought you might be a bit quicker. GT-R is fast, but I can't race it, the DBR9 is so sure footed if you haven't tried it you should.

What? You got the bouncy reversey cars - for free? Normally, you need to pay extra for that!

Yeah, there is oddness from time to time. I have run a 1000+ races and have seen that sort of oddness:
  • reversey cars - a few times,
  • car left on track - a few times,
  • the first set of cars get launched but the rest of us sit on the grid for 10 s - a few times,
  • random network disconnect - more than a few times.

The failure rate is probably like 2-ish %.

I will try it tomorrow. The GTR is good but it decided to kill me at Lesmo 2 today. Can be twitchy at the rear but the brakes are good.
 
Some of these races are doing nothing for my chill. Starting at the back and picking my way through the fighting without getting involved or retaliating is bloody stressful.. Though earlier in the week I wasn't doing that so well and there is a reason my SR dropped to 40 but back at SR 99 now and working very hard to keep it there.

I have been in a few races with you the last few day and I started at the back too, see i remember your name because you were so dirty!

No serious you were one of the few drivers who was clean and fair, you rejoined the track a d gave me loads of space when I was catching and passing you and I knew you would catch me so I let you go. Yes there has been so many races where only 1 or 2 finished without the penalty dot, the few I got where track limits, still its nice to finish clean with the rest showing the battle scars. I will keep an eye out for you. T
 
I don't know if bragging about this is good or bad, but I got a fastest lap in the DBR9 and it was faster than my QT. So I suck at qualifying and only slightly less at racing. It's been really dirty tonight, but on the plus side I've made places several times when some kind person punts me through the second chicane:lol:
