What do you do?
You just came around Panasonic and are now leveled on the final straight heading for the finish line. You are in front of a BMW who is somewhat faster than you but with the slipstream can/will pass you before the finish line. As they approach (fast) do you move to stay in front or let him by?
I saw the pass coming, considered it blocking if I moved and just stayed my line as they passed. 2nd place, was I wrong?
I defend quite a lot.
By that I mean when a car has a run on me, I select which side of me it will have to pass on.
I usually want that to be the outside. You just have to be sure if they do stay alongside you to hold an inside line, leaving a cars width for them to have racing room.
If they don’t get enough overlap you take the normal exit.
Usually I don’t get accused of blocking.
I’m not disrupting their speed at all, just selecting where they will be.
Moving once, then they move, then moving AGAIN is dirty and you deserve to get punted.
Moving ONCE but in a late swerve whereby they hit you deserved a punt imo.
99 percent of people might become visibly frustrated by me using fair defense but they generally race fair so long as I’m not disrupting their momentum.
