If what you say is true then the license tests will be a breeze for you anyway :sly:
shouldn't take you too long to get em done. Not like theyre hard anyway.. (unless your aiming for all golds from the getgo)

Beside the point. If he skips them, they are all there for you to do.

Personally, I wouldn't mind either way. I will say this though, the prospect of carrying over GT5P progress into GT5 has me hoarding cars and money.

I'd really love to start off with a ton of cash, cars, and super license so I can get to the real meat and potatoes of cars and tuning.

But, on the flipside, playing through all of GT5's license tests and starting from the bottom (In an AE86...obviously), I'll adapt to the new physics quicker.

I am content with them carrying it over, because I find the game to be very challenging..almost too challenging for me at times.

Why?

If you have any understanding of driving (which you should from GT5P) you should be able to hop into just about any car and drive reasonably well with 5's new physics. It might actually benefit you more to go with something fast since the physics differences may be more pronounced (I for one expect downforce and limit grip to change a bit if PD intends to be as realistic as possible).

I'm sure I wouldn't be incompetent with the new physics, but I'd prefer (that's the operative word) to get comfortable with them in tests designed to exploit certain characteristics.

To transfer data to GT5.
Does it have to be do same region e.g. japan to US, Europe to asia etc.
For GTPSP does the region have to be the same e.g. japan to US, Europe to asia etc.

We don't have much in terms of details but I would assume they would have to be from the same region.

I understand that some of you would feel integrity is lost if Data Transfer were to occur... but to some others like me, we want that option.

Because there is no difference really... whether we start off rich or poor...
ultimately we start off with whichever car each of us want... and if you want to take the harder road, so be it, you will have your pride and the experience...

My point is: I hope Data Transfer Will NOT be Disabled.
Data Transfer should be optional from Prologue to the Full version for those who want to use that feature.

The reason why i would like to be able to transfer all of my data from Gt5P to GT5 is:
I have worked hard to get all of my Gold Medals, I have all the cars in my garage, including my first one.
(and yes I always keep my first car I ever buy in any of the GT games I own GT2 and GT4)

I do understand the point of view that many of us have, the fact that you work hard from scratch in a game, and I agree… because I’ve always done it this way… but for the first time (for me) that I will have the chance to NOT start from scratch, I would like to use that opportunity to get the cars I really want right away… and make it my main car and start practicing with it right away… (as opposed to picking a used under-powered car because I am too poor to afford for a better one booo)

Wouldn’t that be a nice reward to those of us who have bought GT5P and partially funded the development of GT5??

This situation would be similar to as if: your Dad has worked very hard all his life, and has gotten filthy rich… being his son/daughter and at his death bed, wouldn’t you want to inherit his fortune ??? don’t you tell me you would rather refuse that money and instead start from scratch because you would get the full experience… c’mon guys!! I want my full 2 millions right away…

IT would NOT deter my experience with GT at all…

It would make me proud to have bought GT5P over those people who have not… I will still buy a Honda Civic, heck I can also buy tons of small little K cars to start out and play with them right away…

On top of that, I want to keep all my cars…

AND MOST IMPORTANTLY : I want to get some sort of recognition for my FULL Gold status in GT5P…

(and no Skidmarks (or damage) will make up for it)

I know i am trying to save some time with this Data Transfer...
but me cutting corner this way is still a respectable one:

Because I would not mind going through and retaking all the tests and licences again in GT5 … because yes… I agree and believe in retaking the tests… Similarly if you Dad had a driver’s licence. it doesn’t mean you automatically get one ;)… just his money if you are a nice boy.

thanks for reading my 2 cents

Good post CTznOfTime.

I'll be really really disappointed if data transfer is not in. I'm hoping I can sell off my garage as I have been stacking F2007's and Citroen GT's for quite some time.

I too would also like some recognition for getting all gold in all events including dealerships though the latter was not really hard.

I also want to start with default money and buy that used car and work my way up because I agree it is half the fun or even most of it.

What I'm going to do is load up the game and see what they give you to start. After I import my my prologue data I'll just have some discipline and only use what I earn from the start for cars and upgrades until I come across a race where I can make money as fast as, or close enough to GT5P's S-6. After that, i'll allow myself to use everything that carried over.

Plus, I want to be able to scoop up those low mileage cars as I see them. Any car really. I just won't use them for completing offline events.

In short I very badly want data transfer to be in as I have been grinding GT5P (they better not flag the cars so you can't sell em). However, I will not allow myself to benefit from it until I have a means in GT5 to actually justify all of whats carried over.

I don't care if I have to to licence tests again and would be happy either way. If they are given to me I can always go and actually do them for fun but it would be nice not to be locked in to it for a change.

I got GTPSP, GT5P and I am not going to transfer anything until I get all the trophies in GT5, I want to have fun collecting, and that's the whole point about it, aren't I right??

I will transfer but only to arcade or at a later date when I have completed most of the game but then I probly won't have to

I planned to transfer all the cars from GT5P. I was completing the game with my new PSN ID when I read a tweet from KY saying that it is good to start from scratch.
I changed my mind, I think it's good to start with no cars in the garage, it will have a better flavor ...

The plan is quite simple really:

- I will not transfer any cars at all, as I want to start fresh in that respect
- If you can just transfer some cash from Prologue, I will probably do that to get a bit of a jump-start
- Play through the career mode as normal, working through the licences and acquiring whatever cars I do on the way
- Once I have done that (several months into the future!), assess the car and money situation, and do one of two things: either continue with that save to get other cars, or back it up and download a 100% so that I can just mess about with any car I like and experiment with upgrades etc.

There is no right or wrong way to play this game - whatever works for you, whatever gives you the most fun, that's the main thing. Life's too short to go taking things like video games too seriously.

I did have to laugh at RoadRunner99 who changed his mind only because Kaz said it is good to start from scratch though! Too funny! Play the game how YOU want, not how others say you should.

Hardly a comparable analogy, relating a few hours spent playing a video game for no monetary reward at all, to somebody spending many years of their life grafting away all hours god sends to make their fortune...

Well Mr Frappy ... if I changed my mind it is probably because it was not something so important to me. As you said the important thing is to enjoy the game.
You are right, I should not take into consideration the others sayings, especially when they come from a person who knows very little of the game...
Next time I will ask to a real expert ;)

Does anyone remember what reward you got for finishing GT4's prologue? I think it was 50,000cr? I think that would be the way to go, and is the only bonus I would even consider taking from GT5P. 2mil and a garage full of cars is against what GT is about at first, after all thats what arcade mode is for isnt it??

I'll complete at least 30 to 50% of the game and then I'll transfer my GT5P/GTPSP cars into GT5.

With transfers from GT3 --> GT4, were you forced to make a decision at the start of a new game save, or could you transfer at any time? Personally, I think you should be forced to make a choice at the beginning - cars, cash, or both.

I'm going to transfer everything at the beginning but play as if I hadn't. It will only be used for Arcade (if the stuff transfers to that), but the GT Life or whatever is going to be played as if I never transferred cars or money.

Good idea I might do this and just keep track of my money on some paper.

I will definitely play GT5 from scratch, I don't want to win the Sunday Cup with a car going 10 times faster than the other cars. Just give me the Sprinter Trueno :D to start in GT5.

I have 2 accounts, so I will use one to have GTPSP and GT5P transfered and the other to start from scratch, so I do not have to wait to race online with a couple of cars a try all my favourite cars in the ring, by the way my recent discovery in GTPSP "Mazda RX-7 BNP Falken" what a machine!!!

except for the having fun while you are playing it part.

I thought the "Concept by GT" cars would only be in GT5p because of the lack of tuning option in GT5p. There isnt really much to tranfer, but Ill take a 2,000,000 credit head start if they give it.

It'll probably be the standard 300,000 credits like they did with GT3 and GT4. I think you could also transfer licenses. But I don't see that here.

But I would think that all the cars or most of them, at least, and some credits will be transferred over.

If posible I would transfer GT5P and PSP data when I am on about 10%. Most times money will flow in faster at that time. This also has to do with the fact that I don't always have time to play the longer events.

I thought it was only 100,000?

We'll just wait and see. ;)
