That explains why Fujiwara drives a Trueno. I really don't know much about Keiichi Tsuchiya, but, hearing this, I'm going to look around for that video...

ps: for some strange reason his story reminds me of Alan Kulwicki's

Without Keiichi Tsuchiya, there is a chance that Initial D would never had happen. Without Keiichi Tsuchiya the drifting world would be way different. Without Keiichi Tsuchiya there is a chance that there wouldn't be a D1 event.

Keiichi Tsuchiya is just that important to the Drifting world. Just like Jordon in basketball.

oh yeah, I just love it when you say that 👍 👍

Bit more history.

Kunimitsu Takahashi, known as the father of drifting began the dynamic style in his circuit racing career, he was considered a reckless driver at the time but is now well renowed for his amazing grace and style. Takahashi was basically the first, no doubt were they got the Takahashi brothers names from in initial d.

Oh, and you contridicted yourself.

Dori dori means drift, and Dorikin means drift king.

He was driving around then.

Well thanks for the correction. Anyways I hope you know that Kunimitsu Takahashi and Keiichi Tsuchiya were friends and were in the same team at once. 1992 when they formed Team Kunimistu. Starts up his own team, to race in Touring Cars and then the JGTC. The reason for this may not have been clear at the time, but by 1992 it became quite obvious. Takahashi was awake to the fact that sports prototype racing was dying a slow death, and he established his own team, Team Kunimitsu. In both 1992 and 1993 he entered his young team in the All-Japan Touring Car Championship, driving a four-wheel-drive, 4-wheel-steer Group A Nissan Skyline GTR with Keiichi Tsuchiya, finishing equal 9th in the championship in 1992 with 74 points.

Anyways, they were friends and Keiichi felt like Takahashi was like his mentor, which was cool!

Keiichi Tsuchiya began racing at a young age as most great drivers do. As he was learning to drive he began experimenting with the side brake or E-brake lever. Sliding the back end of the car out and counter steering was fun and taught him the basics of car control. Unlike many great racecar drivers he did not go to a racing school or have a rich family that was into the racing scene that could nurture his racing talents. He just had the basic passion to drive. Driving through local mountain roads he began to build a sense of where a car needs to be at each turn to achieve maximum speed through a corner. This not being a safe and smart way of learning to race he never the less learned much from running (Touge) mountain pass roads. From time to time he found himself off a cliff with his KPGC10 Skyline or against the side of a wall. Having snow in the wintertime further trained him to drive well on loose surface conditions enhancing again his car control skill. The more he drove on these roads and conditions of various road surfaces he began to get comfortable with sliding the car through a corner. He started to drift not because it was a quicker way around a corner but it was the most exciting way.
