It's been the 5th in pretty much all UK shops since they announced SCEE territories were getting the game from the 3rd to be honest. One of my mates manages a Game/GameStation (Can't remember which) and he confirmed that the only date they were given for the UK in November was the 5th.

I was always expecting it on the 5th as it's certainly not the first time that the UK has got a Sony published game on the Friday when the rest of Europe on the Tuesday or Wednesday, I think Killzone 2 was probably the last major one. I even booked time off work from the 5th in preparation when the SCEE date was originally announced.

Up until the TGS changes on the official site the SCEE site always listed that it would be available in SCEE territories from the 3rd. I think the only SCEE territories that have been given a release date so far are mainland Europe (3rd November) and Australia (4th November). There hasn't yet been a public announcement for the UK although I'm fully expecting the standard Friday release on the 5th.

Not surprising. Most games do come out on a Friday over here so the 5th sounds right. I also thought "whaa?" when they announced the 3rd Nov in the EU since we NEVER get games released on a Wednesday.
Doesn't bother me in the slightest. If I waited 5 years, I can wait another 2 days.

It's clear that SCEE wants people to buy GT5 in their zones, at least at launch day. I know this time I'll be getting my copy locally rather than online from the UK (amazon.uk/play.com/etc) like I usually do, which would cost significantly less for me (although with the express shipping method - a must for GT5 - it would cost about the same as getting it here).

i'm debating on whether to hold back until i can counter steer on prologue as i keep spinning r8's!!

is there a thread for tips and tricks for the g25/g27 steering wheel? if not, you should start one! gather all the pros and we'll ask them for tips and tricks! 👍

i've made one on counter steer but we can turn it into more than just counter steer mate 👍 just search for g25 counter steering tips...it's wierd because i'm only 2 seconds slower than the top 100 on gt tracks but on real ones i'm like 10 to 20 seconds slower at times!!! :p

Could someone please clarify (post a link to some official SONY announcement ?) if the delay till November 5 considers all European countries ? Particularly Poland ?;) and if the delay also considers SIGNATURE edition or only standard or collectors edition ?...

There hasn't been any official announcement. This is why the Release Date thread still shows the same November 3rd date that the official site's ad banner shows.

Some games retailers have e-mailed customers to say that there has been a delay until the 5th, but there has been no word or press release from Sony to confirm this.

Jay if your reading, sound familiar, Amazon, Information, not official etc.

Lol.

Exactly, it's not official, hence the release date thread hasn't been changed.

I'm fine with it being the 5th, it just means I only have to book friday off work lol. It's two more days, some of you have been waiting 5 years.

If it's not official surely this threads title is less factual than it looks, and therefore really should be corrected.

Yes, that thought had occurred to me too. I was going to add a question mark to the end, but that doesn't really change how it looks in the forum overview

👍 I think the new title is perfect, the fact its a question will probably grab more attention than the original title.

OK, thank you for the clarification.

So when the play.com email said "The manufacturer of the product has informed us the release date has changed to the 5th November" who do you think they are referring to!!

As far as im concerned the 3rd of November was never a definate date for the UK. The official UK website just says November. Now for Europe it states from the 3rd November. The clue is in the word FROM which doesn't actually mean it will come out on the 3rd November in the UK.

Unfortunately some are clutching at straws hoping the release date will still be the 3rd November when the evidence suggests 5th.

Who cares? Sony haven't told anyone else any different.

The official UK website says "November 3" in the ad banner in the largest font size anywhere on the site.

There is the same evidence for the 5th November being the release date as there was for 27th November 2009 and 25th September 2009.

Please do not lecture people on clutching at straws or evidence.

We have no reason to assume Sony have changed the release date until Sony tell us they have changed the release date. It's as true now as it was a year ago when you were guessing release dates based on distributors. You may be right. You may be wrong. Either way, until Sony say something, it's irrelevant.

Like I've said, the 5th makes more sense. Games are NEVER released on a Wednesday here. Tuesday, sometimes. Never a Wednesday.

Well according to this link it just says November 2010.

http://uk.playstation.com/ps3/games/detail/item239615/Gran-Turismo®-5/

I don't understand why you say "Until Sony say something". So if Sony didn't contact play.com who did!

And according to the very large banner, updated on Thursday, in this now-posted-five-times-in-this-thread link from the official Gran Turismo site, it just says November 3.

http://www.gran-turismo.com/gb/

That's the official UK site for the actual game.

Who knows?

If Sony didn't put all those games in your Game store manager friend's warehouse in April 2009, who did?

Sony have made no official announcement as to when the UK release date is other than their announcement of the European release date of November 3rd which is still carried on the official Gran Turismo UK site.

You've been in the Release Date thread twice now. The rules can't be a stranger to you, surely?

* The release date that comes from SCE or Polyphony Digital themselves is the actual, albeit projected, release date.
* A release date that comes from a shop, a shop's website, a shop employee or anything to do with a shop is not the release date unless there's a fluke coincidence
* Neither is one you heard from some blog somewhere.
* Or a mate who knows this guy who...

The first line covers November 3rd. The second line covers the e-mails sent out by Play/Amazon and website release dates. When the first line covers November 5th, I'll change the first post in that thread. Until then November 3rd is the official, projected release date for the UK and November 5th is speculation.

So when the play.com email said "The manufacturer of the product has informed us the release date has changed to the 5th November" who do you think they are referring to!!

And play.com have had how many dates for GT5.

On further note, the manufacturer of the game GT5 has informed me that every copy of the game will come with a scratchcard which guarantees a minimum of a real Mini Cooper, up to the grand prize of a Nitrous powered Veyron.

Unfortunately some are clutching at straws hoping the release date will still be the 3rd November when the evidence suggests 5th.

I don't think that many people actually care about two days, i certainly don't.

My issue was a misleading title, which has now been corrected.

We have no reason to assume Sony have changed the release date

I think there is very good reason to assume Sony have changed the release date. It is very unlikely that a retailer would chose to delay a high profile title. It is even more unlikely that several independent retailers would chose to delay the same title at the same time.

You can either think that this is some highly unlikely coincidence, or that Sony (or a major distributor) changed the date for the UK. It is not a sure thing, but logic alone should tell you it is the sensible thing to think.

What I think is irrelevant also.

The rules are clear. Until and unless Sony release a statement, press release or announcement that says that GT will be on any date other than November 3rd in the UK (and/or changes the banner ad on the UK site), the Release Date thread will still carry that date.

You must be saying it wrong. :sly:

Rules? Release date thread? No idea what you are talking about there. I was just responding to your comments about what one should 'assume' at this stage.

Actually I was talking about what one shouldn't assume. And that's anything until Sony tell us different.

That's why the Release Date thread - which is a sticky in this forum - has never carried any date other than that which has been announced by Sony through Sony. Nor ever will.

I can't be bothered to argue over this anymore. The fact remains that all retailers have changed the date to the 5th November. You can repeat the rules all you like. The bottom line for me is Sony are the manufacturers of the product and as stated by the play.com email they have informed them about the change of date.

Still two days won't matter and hopefully I shall recieve this a day early.

P.S Famine yes I have previously got the dates wrong. However im not alone in this because I remember reading in the news section on this site how GT5 was likely Dec 2009. You stick with your rules whilst I shall prepare for GT5 on the 4th/5th November!

No one has said you or anyone can't believe what the retailers say, that is your choice. I personally believe it is very likely the release will be on the 5th in the UK for most retailers. Although it's not from any official source so it can't be deemed as such and until Sony UK publish/announce a date other than the 3rd it will stay officially as the 3rd.

Sony Australia has stated in one article the Australian release date is on the 4th (as I expected), which is the date I am going for in AU, retailers seem to have followed suit.
