When the UK site stops carrying "November 3" as a release date anywhere and an official statement from Sony comes out saying "No dice. Fifth it is.", I'll change the Release Date post. Until then, the Release Date rules stand.[/color][/b]

I haven't had chance to read the posts on this thread since this morning but unfortunately the 5th November is going to be the release date for all versions. The official site says 3rd November but Game, Gameplay, Play.com, Argos all have the 5th November.

The email from play.com says "they have been informed by the manufacturer of the product that the date has changed to the 5th November". Obviously this is Sony but unfortunately they haven't updated the official site. So basically don't delude yourselves into thinking the release date is still the 3rd November because now its the 5th November.

Well i've only ordered from shop to once and I will never order again. I had a nightmare getting my copy of FM3 which cost me a fortune in telephone calls. I would suggest members don't change from play.com to shop to for the reasons below.

1. Shop to date will change to 5th November.

2. ordering now will put you to the back of the preorder queue.

3. Only selling the normal edition.

Edit. Shop to have changed date to 5th November!

Nothing to do with delusion. Everything to do with the rules of the Release Date thread:

Famine
* The release date that comes from SCE or Polyphony Digital themselves is the actual, albeit projected, release date.
* A release date that comes from a shop, a shop's website, a shop employee or anything to do with a shop is not the release date unless there's a fluke coincidence
* Neither is one you heard from some blog somewhere.

When this happens, I will update the Release Date thread. Until this happens, I won't update the Release Date thread. An e-mail from Play/Amazon/Game/Whomever is not an official Sony press release. It wasn't when everyone was speculating the release date when we didn't have one and it still isn't now.

As seen recently with Halo.

If it is true, then I'd assume it's Sony's call.

PS. I'm not trying to start a war by mentioning Halo, just using that as a reference.

Sorry what I mean't by deluding is I don't want members to be disappointed by believing the release date is still the 3rd November. Pretty obvious this has changed to the 5th November and its only a case of when Sony change the official release date rather than if. The fact Sony contacted the likes of Play.com, Game etc is enough for me.

Yes retailers can release before a Friday but they won't break the official release date because they can be fined. Now if GT5 is released on the 5th November the likes of Shop to, Play.com recieve the copies from the distributor around monday/Tues. They then post these on the Wed to make sure the customers recieve the game on release day, although sometimes these arrive a day early. The only time I have seen games sent out earlier is when FM3 was released and this was due to the postal strikes in the UK.

Bottom line is if you have ordered online then you might be lucky and recieve GT5 on the 4th November.
 
I have a week off starting the sat of 6th (my b-day! yay!) as long as its in my dirty little hands by the monday everything is groovy.

I really hope this is bs, overwise the 2+ days between the release dates are going to be painful ;(

I hope that does not happen here in the US, i already put in for two days off on the 2nd and 3rd of November, new games always come out on a Tuesday witch is the 2nd here so i may not have to worry

Oh well, I'll just have it on the 4th then..

I've bought all my NEW PS3 games from shopto (when I buy used I buy from ebay) and I've never had a problem, I've had 4 pre-ordered games from them (killzone2,hawx1,opflashpoint,redalert3) and I received all of those the day before release day, and find that they usually sell games cheaper than play etc..

As for the vanilla edition, that's all i want. I'm not paying a huge amount of money for no real improvement in gameplay. I'm in it for the driving, not owning a tiny overpriced model car
 
yah i hope they do not do this here in the usa as well because i want to take some time off for two days just for this game! lol
 
to be honest i'm glad it's pushed back...gives me more time to try and improve my prologue skills which are currently low :lol:

true, but i'm new to the g25 so obviously i need time to at least hold a slide :p else i've had it...i'm crap at the moment so yeah...working on it...i seem to be slower on real world tracks than gt tracks...:(...still :lol: life is life and all that crap
 
I've booked the 5th and 8th of November of work. Was initially expecting to miss the postman and collect the next day from the post office. Now if it does get released on the 5th, then I can collect on the Friday if I miss the post on Thursday, providing it gets to me a day early.

As long as I'm playing by midday Friday 5th November I will be happy. After a 5 year wait a couple of days won't bother me.
