I've only worked with Rivals mode so far but I like it quite a lot. Addicting fun and you get a fair bit of XP for it.

As far as racing with other people. It's been pretty good experience. Granted, it has only been with my club members, but I don't have to worry about drivers soul purpose is to crash other cars.

only race with people I know so no gripes :)

Only time I went public in R1 cars and everyone was 10 laps down per lap, collected my winnings the left lol.

Get good exit from corner. Begin to catch player up in same car. Pull along side down the straight. Continue advancing past player. Player swerves right to take you out.

Every time.

Playing with mates, it's been awesome.. Racing with randoms in public lobbies has been like every other game, very random and since the game is new, lots of rammers..

Just give it a couple of weeks or so, most casuals disappear... and join in with more organised websites online racers..

I've played rivals a bunch for easy cash. I am at about spot 250, maybe less on the Top Gear track.

And I've played Hellaflush, a member here. We're evenly matched so it makes for some close races.

Fun overall but lots of a$$'s cutting you off and knocking you into the wall, grass or gravel when there is no need but there I am sure mistakes made by everyone. I was driving in 3rd place on one track all by myself and then I get rammed into the back spinning me out and there wasn't any reason for it as they couldn't have passed on either side I wasn't blocking, online players are jerks not all of them , it leaves a bitter taste when you cant even race correctly, just bump/knock people out of the way and move on with no remorse or hey man I am sorry I didn't mean to do that, I have said my peace now. Playing with friends is alot more enjoyable so I will be doing more of that for sure.

Playing with people you know, its brilliant. Public races? Not so.

Had a great 1 on 1 with a friend on Fujimi New Downhill last night, MX5 superlight V Mazdaspeed Roaster, was half a second in it the whole way down. Super fun.

Oh and car football is utterly brilliant! Lost 3-2 to him in that one..

I had a great race the other night with complete randoms, but then I kept getting messaged by a guy complaining that I was ramming him, even though I stayed clear of all the carnage down to t1 and went on to win with ease, seriously there are some right idiots out there who get a kick out of ruining peoples online experience.

They need a collisions OFF Damage ON matchmaking option, or introduce penalties for demolition derby kids.

I havent played online yet, I stopped because the online for Forza 3 was just buttholes crashing into you. Maybe we should do a forum online race, see whos the best!

Pretty simple to get a good race in public actually.

Go to Race Online, choose player made. Search for a curcuit race. Make sure it has simulation tire/fuel, collisions ON, and damage on simulation as well.

9 times outta 10 its a decent race with decent folks.

So far I'v been
Kicked before the race even started to many times, ( seems like i wasn't a member of the "club" ) make it a private lobby if it's team members only,
Rammed then kicked,
Kicked for using a slower car and keeping up,
Kicked for i assume coming 1st,
Left alone in the lobby for i assume winning,

I don't bother now.

Join the FPM club :D

I did some Car Soccer today, good fun although it is just demo derby with a goal every now and then.

Playing with people you know is the best way to experience online.

Seems to be a surprising number of clean racers in the Cycled Production lobby. There are some bad drivers, but so far no intentional attacks on me. And the people who normally cause accidents fall behind relatively quickly, so no real problems so far here. It's weird, I've had more relatively clean(Only some light taps with the occasional barely recoverable hit) races in the first week of FM4 with 16 racers than I did through the first month of FM3 with only 8.

Online racing is the best ever in this game. Man, I had fun racing with our club for sure. It's epic.

I've only done rivals mode and a few races with some FPM members last night but I'm really liking it. I didn't notice any lag or anything which is a plus.

The only thing I would add to the game is a lobby system like GT5 has where you can just run free laps like a track day.

1st corner is always bad. Especially if it's a high speed into hard braking one. There is always some mid pack hero who thinks he can out brake everyone.

Also, with 16 player lobbies there is usually 1 or 2 people deliberately trying to crash everyone. It's funny when they're in a Hummer because you go to go around them one side, they start to move to block you and you dart up the other side.

Tip, if you start 4th or lower, just let the pack go into turn one and pick up your spots on the other side of the crash. 1st-4th give it a go and hope for the best.

Driving standards are really low. I think it is partially caused by two things. People getting frustrated being bumped into accidentally and on purpose, some people's driving just being dirty and there being no look left/right buttons for wheel users so you can't even see and avoid collisions at times. With wheel if someone is next to you you can not know he is there unless you see their shadow, hear their engine or just make right judgement call.

On starts it is really hard not to bump into anyone because you in most cases you have cars all around you but you can only see those in front and those in rearview mirror. And it is only exaggarated when some have cars that are faster in acceleration and those are trying to overtake people while other cars are faster in corners and slower in acceleration. This kind of creates a traffic jam that is almost impossible to solve with the huge variety in driving skills, car capabilities and because of the fact that you have too many cars and not enough space.

I think all this is leading to situation where legit and courteous drivers are getting frustrated because they are constantly being bumped into and you never know if the other car was just trying to use you as a brake, simply try to take you out or if he just overshoot his braking or made some error.

Compared to GT5 I'd say that driving standards are lower. In gt5 it was rare that a car you are trying to pass just tries to sideswipe you but in forza it is just too common... :guilty:

Question.

People complaining about standards of driving are talking about public lobbies?

In my case yes, Cause I only want to race at Nordschleife, So it has to be public lobbies.

I was in a room just last night with 10 people running the Ring over and over in B - Class 4cylinder only - Damage Simulation - Collisions Always On. This was a public Player-Made room. Everyone was racing clean and having a good chat.

Only real accident was one guy hit a curb flipped over, and was pretty much stuck there till the race ended. But he stayed even though he was getting a DNF.

My point is, you can find rooms much better in the Custom Made public lobbies.

Yeah don't get me wrong, I know there are good clean lobbies out there I'v just been very unlucky and not found any :(

For the last two hours or so I'v been joining lobbies waiting 2 - 3 laps till they finish and they change the track. Not one race so far lol

I've only done a small handful of races so far. I am not the best driver, but I am clean so I've stayed under the radar of the "kick the winner" crowd, nor have I pissed anyone off by crashing them intentionally. I've also found too that when you are in a large lobby, one of the best strategies for placing high is to simply hang back in turn 1, and let everyone wreck themselves first.

I always hang back on turn 1 UNLESS I happen to be first in the starting grid. I ALWAYS hang back in last, USUALLY watch the cluster pile up, and then weed my way through.

If that makes me NOT win races, that is fine. I just know I am having fun, and my car isn't a tangled mess.
