Design Shortcuts

Anyone saying we should have less standard cars has wrong, I like the standard car concept, at least all worthy cars ar in game. The moment PD starts leaving epic cars out of the game, then it is really something wrong. The premium car list is somethins I will never understand, and I would rather say, leave the premium cars out, because their detail isn't so much worth while racing, they look bad and the interior during racing looks worse than in forza motorsports 3. Are the premium cars value adding to me? No, not really because I disslike the fact that there are cars divided in groups, and their choice of premium cars.

Second PD strong thing is physics, rest of the cars are modelled from 1/18 scale models, I think all standards are scale models, therfore the bad quality. Unlike forza whose cars are really real cars scanned, to bad the physic engine in forza is to bad, but hand down to the detail of all those cars.

Anybody that wants change or improvements, go work for PD. Look at your own resume before you send it and ask yourself if you can do anything more than gossip. :P

So if i go into a restaurant and the meat still has a pulse i shouldn't make a fuss instead i should immediate train as chef?

I think the user who mentioned that more shortcuts could have been taken for standards meant that Premium 3D car models (for example, the MX-5, all the Skylines, etc) could have been borrowed by some Standards (after changing a few details where applicable) in order to at least have current-generation exterior body detail for some of them.

For example, the R34 Skyline GT-R V-Spec N1 premium 3D model could have been used for all other Standard R34 Skyline GT-R in the game (V-spec II, MNP, M-spec, etc) with just very slight modifications. It would have been a smart choice, maybe too smart for PD.

No Gumpert, no Koenigsegg, no Radical, no Mosler... The standard car concept doesn't seem to be working that well :odd:

OK, the problem with the Elise hood is the bonnet clips, if you look at the other picture you can clearly see that the hood opens closest to the wind shield, this is a design feature so you don't need bonnet clips as moving forward creates air pressure which will force the bonnet down.

My problem is that once I purchased Dirt Tyres I also got these unrealistic bonnet clips, how am I supposed to take photo's of the car now? How do I get rid of them?

Also my Elise has the same wheels as the RM Elise, why can't I put these wheels on the Elise without all the skirts and wings?

Why is the '00 Elise which is an identical body shape except with driving lights a standard model? Seriously they could have copied and pasted the lights from the RM model a lot easier than importing and fixing the GT PSP / GT4 model... arrrrrggggh.

/end rant

I agree that they should have copied and altered premiums to remove all the standard duplicates. Maybe if the second hand cars were cheaper there would be a point to having different models be standard, but we don't even get that.

I don't understand why people complain about "duplicates" the way they do "OMG 1000 skylines! They should only have 2! RAWR!" Once PD take the time to model 1 basic shape, in my opinion they should then create all the significant year models of that shape with their minor changes... the hard work is already done, so why not?

For example I really wanted a 97 NSX Type S Zero as I hate the look fixed light NSX but love the 3.2L engine over the 3L. Why not use the Acura and modify it, flip the interior for RHD and make the small changes necessary... although if they couldn't even do the tail lights right, I guess that is too much to ask.

I don't know what you guys are talking about? They got it right. I know it looks like there are 10 (5 on either side) inlet pipes on the V8 but thats how it looks in real life too. The V10's intake mainfold looks completely different...

GT used to be the pinnacle of car knowledge. Sadly the attention to detail has waned as the quest for needless gimmicks like B spec or Go Karts increases. They should really release the game next year in 6 months with all patches deployed plus car and noised fixed.

I wondered aswell if the car modeling had been outsourced, there is a HUGE difference in quality between each car.
Some look like high poly, detailed models with great interiors and great textures for the interiors (the mercedes sls, look at how good the parcel shelf looks and the steering wheel is properly high poly, the car looks great with only smooth , rounded edges.

Then you have other (premium) cars with steering wheels made up out of like 300 polys and low res/bad/glitchy textures and some of the meshes not fitting together well.

Look at the suzuki wrx from 95, race mod it, the interior is terrible, exterior is glitchy, the rear wing is'nt actually attached to the car it floats a few millimeters above it (you can see snow track textures through the bottom over the entire width.

Many other cars have low poly edges and curves.

Sloppy sloppy work.

I don't really have any expectations from console games in general graphics wise, and have enjoyed the game, but doing the intermediate and expert rally events , with the wrx, i've never been bombared with so many glitches/bugs/pop up all together in any game as in the last hour.

Waving flag shadows have an update rate of 2fps, car shadows stretched with a low rising sun are ****ed up, track shadows jittering and dissapearing and popping back up (even right in front of your car while the countdown is going at race start), track side objects dissapearing and reappearing, huge pieces of scenery (rest of the track comes close by the part you are on , you see the whole layout in front of you then it just dissapears), and even entire mountains dissapear in front of you for no reason while cornering, distant trees have vertical black lines over them , in car shadows flip out constantly in the wrx as do the outside shadows, if the sun is behind my car I see the roll cage casting shadows on the hood where it shouldn't, co pilot's helmet reflects the sky and road even though theres a roof and a car interior in between it and the outside, if you hit something and your car goes transparent, the smoke effects and shadows totally spaz out , a bunch of vertical black lines appear on the car like with the trees, when waiting for race start the crowd cheering is a 5 second loop of shouts and whistles which is really annoying, opponent cars will float sideways on the track into position as they wait for their turn to start, the co pilot neglects to announce corners half of the time.

I've never had any game shove so many annoying glitches , bugs and oversights into my face at once as today on gt5...

@ the previous two posts - You're never going to get everything you want all in one go from Gran Turismo. And so won't Kaz.

If you want to get a "Real Driving" experience why don't you head out to your nearest car circuit and have a go there. In the end of the day Gran Turismo is a game franchise. Give suggestions on how to improve it but don't b**** about it every damn bloody day.

I'm sure it'll be labelled an "Easter Egg" and then posted on the front page in order to try and dissipate any negativity, when clearly its a total lack of attention to detail.

Um. Pretty sure you're missing the point.

You guys should make an official inaccurate thread and take pics in photomode of all these cars you found but not to flame PD just for the thread purpose.
