It looks pretty, and the idea of a living, breathing universe is appealing, but I think there's something missing. Destiny needs that x-factor that elevates it above the sum of its parts, the thing that elevated Halo above space-themed shooter and made it truly great.
 
Gamestop has 50% trade in bonus right now. So I traded in Defiance and a few other games and put money on Destiny. They gave me a free poster but I really don't have any use for a poster.

Does he have eyes in the back of his head on that cover art? They are all three facing the other way, yet facing us?

Looks like this game has been bumped quite a ways into 2014.

This is by far the best video explaining Destiny. Destiny truly seems to be what Defiance wasn't.
Each planet also has a dynamic day night cycle. Very exciting for sure.
No monthly subscription.

New Destiny Gameplay, and while I was looking forward to this, the hype seems going down.

It looks Exactly like Halo (Aliens invading old derelicts like say the forerunners, a machine talking like say Guilty Spark, same sense of jumping and shooting and a heavy colour palette).

It looks dull, unimaginative, and somehow very repetitive, I don't want to trash it but it looks like the busy parts of game like Halo 3 or Halo ODST.

Looks more like Borderlands to me mixed with Halo, in a good way. 80% Borderlands 20% Halo especially since the enemies have health bars just like in Borderlands. Halo enemies don't have health bars. This is Bungie so I am pretty sure most of us knew it was going to have a look and feel similar to Halo. Its a formula that has worked for MANY years so it makes sense to use it with their new franchise.

I am still very hyped for this game. In fact I will probably be taking a week off PAID when this launches. Might even have another lan party. This will be one of the most anticipated games of the year. Not much else coming out this year that interests me....yet. We will see what turns up at E3. Even then, most E3 games get pushed to the next year.

Excellent videos. I still get a massive Borderlands 2 vibe mixed with Halo. In a very good way.

I am for sure taking a week off paid when this comes out. Will have my brother over for sure. After the announcement of The Master Chief Collection, it looks like I will be getting the X1 before Destiny comes out and getting Destiny for that system. Which means I will have an X1 lan party with my brother and at least another friend the week Destiny comes out. I will get pics for sure. I knew if I waited about a year I would be able to justify the purchase of the X1. Looks like the wait was worth it. Going to be great 4th quarter for X1 gaming. That also reminds me, I will need to move my Destiny pre-order from the 360 to the X1. :)
 
Wow, that looks amazing. I've already signed up to get in the Alpha but if I don't get in that at least I know I'll be playing the Beta for sure. I'm really looking forward to this game and I'm glad Bungie are developing games for the PlayStation now.

I am looking forward to the beta. The really great news about Destiny is those that only play the PS2/PS3/PS4 were never able to play Halo. So this is the perfect opportunity to get a feel of what Halo is like. Also with a feel of Borderlands 2. Nice to see Bungie go multi platform with Destiny so everyone can enjoy it. :)

Alpha or beta? I signed up for the beta a long time ago. I would think the alpha would be ending soon. Destiny comes out in 3 months so this public beta will be kicking off any day now if they really want it to be efficient. At this point they wont have much time to change any problems that are found in the beta.

EDIT: Beta begins 7/17/14.

Got mine. Downloading it now.

At E3 they announced an early alpha play for today till Sunday night for the ps4. Everyone who signed up between the e3 announcement and yesterday are suppose to get in.
Today's the only chance I'll get to try it so I'll probably put in a late night on it.
It's going to start us at level 4 and we can go up to 8.
It's a 6.5gb download.

That's all I know until I get a chance later to play.
