Just arrived today!
Here's the tinted version mounted.
I'm glad I went with the tinted ones, as they blend in with the wheel better IMO. That being said, I'm probably going to paint them as well, just to match them even better.
I had to angle the paddles pretty far back as my fingers are a little long, and I didn't want them to touch my fingers on the wheel as I shifted. The following pictures show that.
I was a little concerned that they were being set too far back, but not only did it not matter, it actually helped by giving me extra clearance as I move my fingers from the wheel to the paddle. I haven't missed the paddles yet, and I don't imagine I will.
This also gives my hands more room when I'm counter steering hard (think : Rally!).
Interestingly, with the screw installed instead of the spring (didn't come with a spring at all - no need) you can adjust the paddles so they basically pre-load the shift buttons a bit, making for very fast shifts.
This may not be ideal the setting for everyone, but I love it. I can't imagine this harming anything at all as the pressure is not great at all, and the button shifters are really solid.
All the way out...
Shifted.... (literally 6-8 mm of travel!)
Pros: they look great, shifting is waaaaayyyyy better, 15 minutes to install both paddles, they are really stiff - even shifting at the very edge of the longest (bottom) end is solid. 33$ (I have a crappy iPhone case that cost more)
Cons: Not sure at this point... I'll edit if I find one.
Well, not really a con, but the screw that replaces the spring may need a washer. I didn't put one on, but it's a very small contact patch, so I will probably add one at some point, but with the paddle only moving 1/2 a cm or so, maybe I won't.. (if you are unsure of what I mean, Robbks' mod post shows exactly what I mean, but with his own mod that he created because his came with springs).
They took 10 days to get to my mailbox, which is impressive seeing as they needed to go through Canada Customs, and Kevin (owner/designer) held them up for a day to as he waited to hear from me regarding my choice of clear / tinted.
👍👍👍👍👍 / 5 IMO
