In my local GAME I can get either a cheap PS3 wheel / pedal set for £30, or a DFGT for £70. Bearing in mind I have nearly no money most the time  - what is best option? Also is £70 a good price?

If you get the cheaper wheel the total cost will be £100 eventually anyway, trust us on this.

Agree completely.

Also, treat your DFGT wheel very gently when at all possible. Be careful to use correct technique such that as you rotate the wheel, you don't push or pull against the top or bottom. The wheel's moving parts inside are all plastic so they can be somewhat fragile especially after many hours of use.

DFGT without a shadow of a doubt, in terms of value for money it's definitely one of the best wheels you can buy.

The £30 one would most likely be a plastic piece of 🤬 with no force-feedback and 180 degrees of rotation. Which if you ask me, is absolutely zero fun and you'll probably find yourself using a controller instead.

@Furinkazen - £70 - is a good price for the DFGT. It normally varies from around £70 up to £135.

For some reason it has been going up in price each year in the UK. It was £90 at Argos, but they currently have it on offer for £75.

It is a superb first wheel so I agree with all the other posters that you should forget the cheap wheels and go for the DFGT. A friend had the equivalent priced Thrustmaster wheel and it had no force feedback - the resistance was provided by rubber bands - one of which snapped shortly after the paddle shifters stopped working consistently!

Don't forget something secure to mount it on - either a rig or wheelstand pro or similar. I tried to make my own wheelstand out of a workmate (hobby bench), but couldn't stop the pedals drifting away from me - the consequent constant pulling of the wheel towards me would have wrecked the wheel if I hadn't splashed out on a proper wheelstand pronto. So my advice is budget for a proper stand as well.

Enjoy your wheel and merry christmas!

from what i've found through my research. most other wheels below the dfgt are horrible. i was in your shoes too, i didn't want to waste too much for a wheel but i didn't want to spend more on a crappy product cause that's a waste. so i went to ebay, wait for a good price and a wheel in good condition. i never bougth anything expensive from ebay so i was kinda cautious but i took a chance and got a great product at a cheap price. i bought mine on ebay in pretty good condition for $60 + 5 shipping.

the gt is the best bang for the buck

DFGT all the way. Got mine on sale 2 years ago for $99 and put hundreds of hours and 10's of thousands of miles on it. Modded the breaks and accelerator for my resistance and it works great even without ABS.

I can even add that I recently got a Fanatec 911 GT3 RS v2 wheel with CSR Elite pedals, and after three weeks of playing and adjusting, they just don't have the responsiveness or accuracy that I was used to from the DF GT wheel (I also have a modified G25 pedal board that I can use with it). I thought the belt drive in the Fanatec would be way better along with the load cell brake pedal (I usually drive with no ABS) but really, it wasn't.

DFGT is a great wheel and for the price it simply can't be beat. Guess I'll be buying my third one (I have a broken paddle and the wheel has a lot of play in it)... I'll have to be nicer to it this time
