I'll have to take a look at that tonight as well. I'm not quite as quick as the rest of you guys, but my target time ;) is right there.

My first run at it last night was going fantastic, until I noticed my tire wear. On lap 5 I was already running near orange. Nuts, wrong tires. One quick reload later, I was off and running with the right tires.

Fast lap last night on cold settings with an unfamiliar car, (during the race) was 1'10.028. So a low 1'08 by Slowpoke means I'm two seconds off top shelf. That's on par for me, so with a few hundred miles of practice, I'll slip into a low 1'09 fast, and possibly take first place in this race.

My current race was -12.335 and a third place behind the R390 and the 787B (neither of whom pitted).

I'll tip my hand and say that I pitted on lap 1. My reasoning was a lap 5 pit would leave me on cold tires for most of the race. If I pit early or late, I get to run more laps on warmer tires. Thus improving my overall time. The decsion to pit early was allowed me to separate myself from the pack and give me laps without interference from AI cars. As we all know, pit schedule has the greatest effect on closely matched cars.

Good pit strategy DA!👍 Do watch the replay. It may help you with some corners. The first corner is very important not to go into too hot. Something I learned from a Dango replay. Its all about exit speed. Without giving too much away, I'm in first from out braking the AI right after T2 and keep it on the floor all the way up to the first turn of lap two. Well in the lead. 158mph as I cross over the start, finish line.

 Guys!!! This is Exactly the type of Inter-action I hoped we'd get from such a fine group of racers.

BTW: Forgot to mention that GT3mich brought to my attention we have No Less than Seven Moderators  running out of Thirteen Entrants!!! 👍 ...UB57 :D

Does this qualify as the Mod Squad??

Pit strategy: I stopped at the end of the 9th lap, soz I can (hopefully) build an insurmountable lead over second place, and only have the final lap on the Blues again. FWIW.

The "Mod Squad"

:D I tried Der Alta's 1/9 'cause it make lots of sense in theory, but couldn't make it work in practice. "CLOSE - but No Cigar" as they say. Switched to 2/8 & beat 'em first try but overall was still slightly behind my 5/5 time. Will try 9/1 next time I fire up the PS2.

Thanx to GT3mich for posting a Hot Lap, saved me moving the PS2 from the Shop to the House to the Shop again. 👍...UB57
:D

Ummm, looks like Im a bit late, but if possible, could I get in on the next race? round 2.

Maybe just hit me with the rules and all that in a pm.

Thanks that would be great... Im not so much looking for competition as much as I am just looking for some more fun races.

Till then,
thanks

Rules forwarded to GoKents.
If he joins us it'll be 7/7 "Mods" / Non-"Mods"   ...UB57 :D

Ok, so Im guessing there are 7 board moderators in this series, and with me, 7 normal members?

Anyway, Im in, checked the rules...

I just would like one thing.

Could someone post the car ini file.

I went and read the help section of my mks and Im guessing that you can save an individual car in the form of an ini. file.

Then select the car you wish to over write, import car and then your straight with the exact car you need. (besides tires)

So please, someone post that up as soon as possible so I can get in on this race asap.

Then again, if this is just the normal diablo in the game from when you load it to the garage... I can get the car with ease.

anyway, please post that ini. if you can.(anyone)
(btw, could you guys make that the complete ini. with the -896 change, whatever that thing is.
Thanks

Is there another way to do this...?

Like a save that can be imported through the import function.

For some reason I thought that an ini. file was just like an sps. file that could be saved to my computer and then accessed from mks.

Whatever the case, like I said before, Im new to this, so have patience and please try to work with me.
Thanks,
Kent

No Problem, check your PMs...UB57

sorry about the huge post I was just tring to help

I have a garage with the modified Diablo in the No.1 position on my computer if that will help. Ready to race. Just add tires. Original set-up.

Thanx GT3mich: 👍
:D Am on "IM" w/GoKents right now & I think we've got it working...UB57:D

Yup, thanks everyone.

I got it together finally and its all good. Should be in the race by the end of the night.

Thanks again.
Later.

edit:

Yo, this race is a shocker. I don't even know how to win this one... with a pit stop and the field we are racing, damn its not easy at all.

The 787 and gt-one racers are freaking crazy fast on those straights.

Any suggestions about how to get past them on the first lap in a clean way would be accepted w/ a smile.

Good luck to anyone having the time I am... :banghead: this sucker is gonna take some work.

edit:
Well I beat the computer finally, just took a bit of work, patience, and strategy.

Hopefully I will be able to put in an acceptable time... till later.

thanks to gt mich for the replay .this guy only hits the brakes 3 times during the whole reply .  I think I know why my times are so slow, I need to work on being smoother .I need to work on slowing down with out the brakes, after seeing mich's reply I see I,m real choppy in the corners .:(

Hopefully, I'll have my card back tommorow and I can post up some slow times for no one to aspire to.
Though I am currently working on my smoothness in some other cars.

So I finally have a chance to have at this. Results so far are promising and I've seen my times drop considerably.

So far, most laps are in the 1'08 range and all I need to do is string a bunch of them together.

Great race UB57! 👍

Hey Boom:
:D Glad you got back in time to run w/us!!! 👍 Wish I could get in the 1'08's  if only ONCE! Just checked GT3mich's replay, WOW is he smooth! Best I've run is consistent 1'09.lows & I still haven't WON using 1/9 Pit Stategy. Will get some more Laps in if the MONSTER T-Storm coming this way doesn't interfere!!! Am gettin' a Little Worried  as 3-4 of our entrants haven't yet checked in...UB57
:D

Thought I'd throw this out there to give you guys sumpthin' to chew on. I've run more laps at Deep Forest than any other track. I've come to think of it as a series of hill climbs, with a few twisty roads connecting them. This means that watching the tach is very important, as well as knowing where the peak Horsepower is at, 7000 rpm in this case. I try to settup my gears to give me peak HP to climb these hills. Should be needless to say that I also shift at or slightly above the 7k mark. On a "flat" track, you can see the acceleration drops off tramatically above 7000 rpm.

In case anyone is interested, here are the settings I've settled on:

SR 10.0/14.0
RH 75/75
SB 8/7
SR 8/10
CA 1.0/0.5
TA 0.0/0.0
ST 4/6
BB 22/22
LSD 30/50/20
AS 21
2.600/1.834/1.400/1.140/0.970/0.870//4.100
DF 100/125
ASM 0
TCS 1

I've hit a few 1:07.6's in the race, now I just need to get a few more :p

Im now getting in mixed numbers from the low 1.09's to mid 1.10's. It's rough, but I've managed to beat the ai a good couple of times now.

My only trouble is getting that really clean first lap.

Although, I must say, for a race setup, this feels very, very nice as long as my take is correct:D This set up with a leaniancy (sp?) on off track and light touches helps out quite a bit with actual sim racing.

The race is hard enough, but when you can't at all use those perfect shoulders to go three wide, it gets really hard.

Anyway, Im pretty sure now that I will get a time in.

Due when exactly... or let me ask, when is this due for boom. (serves as a refference for me being only 1 time zone away)

Thanks. (Im in america, central time zone) thanks again.

I'm getting seriously killed here! My fast laps are consistent 1'11's.
However, I ran from the back of the pack and had to dice it up with the GT-40 and the Esperante.

My best finish so far has been 29-30 seconds behind the lead car.
I got seriously spanked!
I will prolly do better in the longer races where there is more to pit strategy.
But at the moment...Damn, I'm takin' a whoopin'

Well Gil, even I feel like you as I read that Pokealong 👍 and GT3mich are running low 1'08's and high 1'07's. I'm sure that Iforce is running much the same if not faster as well as CFM and IDAFC21 I'm feeling a bit out gunned at the moment and a mid pack finish would seem like winning the Super Bowl.

I'm currently at work, but once I get home I'll run a few more races and see how Pokealong's settings feel to me.

Laters gents.

If you guys have MKs program you can get my set-up from the hot lap I posted. It may be better to just watch the run though. Don't get discuraged. You have to keep at it to go faster. Push a bit harder. You will all get there. I'm quick but not as fast as Iforce or Slowpoke. Those guys are fast!

well. i FINALLY forced myself to sit down w/ this see what i can do. w/ the help of pokealongs settings my times are coming down, but they're still nowhere near his and gt3mich's. this last race i did my best lap i had was a 1'08.7, and that was w/ some help drafting the r390 race car, right now my normal laps are in the mid-low 1'09 range, hopefully they'll come down w/ a little more practice, i did just start this afterall, im sure mich and poke have been putting some serious time into this. i dont expect to catch them, but i hope i can come out w/ a reasonable time

damn. the oil goes quick w/ this race!! haha. after about 4 or 5 races my oils already black and ive lost a considerable amount of hp. i was wondering why my times were slowing down.....haha :dunce:

Thanx Pokealong : 👍
:D Loaded your settings & got two (that's right TWO!) 1'08s in the very first attempt!!! Changed the trans ONLY to my set-up & managed three 1'08s the next race!!! (Can guess you're going thru the last corner 5-10 mph FASTER than me as I don't peak out in 6th w/your trans.)
Even tried your set-up on the Clio for boom's race, took 1 second off EACH of the three middle Laps, but was WAY too hard on the tires & the last lap really suffered. Still, only.7xx seconds behind my best. You can set-up my rides ANY TIME !!!...UB57
