I disagree with you guys. I think it's pretty deep. I mean, people put ashes in their house. And what could be creepier than a vast field chock full of corpses?! One day there will be no more room for burying dead people.

But then it is kinda living in the past which is almost never good.

I kinda dig this. I mean, I'm an organ doner, so there won't be much of a body left when I die, so why not make something worth having out of the leftovers.

Very interesting. A tad on the creepy side, but interesting none the less. Can we take this a step in the step in another direction? How about a pet?

That dog that has slept at the foot of your bed for 15 years. The cat that has curled up in your lap for more than a 100 movies? My wife has a parrot that has shared her life for 8 years. With the expected age of 50 years, he's going to be around for another 40 years. I think this would be a great memorial, and a fitting rememberence.

Our macaws will out live us without a problem. They're both expected to leave about 80 years. Why not have them honored that way? In fact, you can get a diamond inscribed nowadays. have their name imprinted on it.

Now as far as my parents go, I don't know if I could do that. Can you picture this scenario: You give your true love an engagement ring, and tell her it's your grandmother. Not your "grandmothers" but your "grandmother".

Interesting. We're made of molecules, plain and simple. Not everyone wants to be buried, so if this is your dream, then it's a neat idea. I think looking at ashes separate from the earth is just a tad somber, not to mention a bit cocky (somehow, we'll just beat Death and come back to life when no other animal has done it). Ashes should be scattered, planted, sunk, whatever.

But I'd hate to be a valuable gem that gets stolen, or worse yet, held a gun point for. That's a loss...losing your loved ones because someone needs to pay for drugs!

Yikes!

"That's my dearly deceased wife... right there in the pawn shop window."
