Did you beat Senna's record: post your best time.

It bugs me that the 97T is obviously beefed up beyond what it could do in real life. If the lap he did at Brands Hatch was truly perfect, and something he'd never forget as it says in the game, then we shouldn't all be beating it by such large margins. I suppose the restart button is worth a bit of time over real life, as are racing softs (which I don't think are appropriate for the challenge), but still, people are beating his times by 5+ seconds. Also, is anyone else bothered by the fact that the cars are all labelled as Ayrton Senna cars in an Ayrton Senna dealer and are all somehow labelled as being Japanese? They should be in DAP, WSR, and Lotus dealers respectively.

Its not beefed up at all, its simply the choice of tyres that are wrong. If it were racing hards instead of softs only the aliens would be beating his times. The F1's in the 80's were running up to 900hp during races but upped the boost during qualifying to where cars had up to 1300hp.

Even if you run it on racing hards it doesn't feel at all as scary as you'd think it should.

This is how it should be in my opinion:

DAP Racing Kart @ Stowe: 58.507
WSR '83 @ Brands Hatch: 42.171
Lotus 97T @ Monza: 1:20.773
Lotus 97T @ Brands Hatch: 1:06.731

EDIT: Ghost Replays for F3 and both F1.

Not a fan of RS tires so 3 of the events were gold and out. Kart I put a solid 10 laps in for a 57.128 with at least a half second out there to be had.

Didn't think the Brandshatch one was that hard, I probably spend more time at Monza getting used to the new/old layout. Love hitting the limiter in that car.

Lotus 97T @ Brands Hatch: 1:06.420

Did it in Monza after few tries, Brands took me a while (around 30 mins.) but finally I achieved the "Senna" silver trophy! What a blast to drive the Lotus, once you get to understand that beast...can't remember the times, but I lowered Senna's time of no more than 0.6 in Monza and a 0.05 at Brands...so close to fail :)

Do 3 break in laps without mistakes get to know the track and then drive harder. I call that a 3 lap groove
Except PD in their infinite wisdom decided we could only handle one lap at a time, just like a license test, instead of running continuous lap like..oh..I don't know...every TT ever. Even the cone system from GTA would have been preferable to only being able to run one lap and not develop any rythmn. I suppose they were trying to emulate Senna doing it in one lap, but F1 qualifying isn't a one lap affair, they only count the fastest lap but you can run for however long the session lasts.

I agree, it's rather frustrating 👍

DAP Kart: 59.556
F3 @ Brands Hatch: 42.764
Lotus @ Monza: 1:24.285
Lotus @ Brands Hatch: 1:06.525

I left a lot of time on the track in my first three, but the Lotus at Brands Hatch took a steady whittling down of time from my initial point in the 1:11 range.

On another note, has anyone noticed that the Lotus is faster in the Senna event than it is when you've bought/been awarded it? After I silvered the time on Brands I took the rewarded car out so that I could run the track without having to stop between each lap, but couldn't come anywhere close to the times I was seeing in the Senna event. And yes, I did switch the car over to RS tires as the event uses.

That's intriguing.

Just posted a 1:04.758 at Brands. Was pretty content with my 1:06.1 last night until I saw some of the times in here! I'm running AT (plus ABS) and feel other than a few tenths I've probably hit the wall as such.

If you need inspiration take a look at this beast of a lap from Nelson Piquet!

What a great addition to the game the Lotus and the two redone tracks are though. Running a Sauber C9 round the old Monza was great fun and it's very cool to be able to compare the times I set to real life.

Did these get easier somehow? I had just been taking it easy and had got silver on all of them bar the Kart day one and sat down to them today and golded them all on my first try on each track?

1.07.092. I don't really understand why switching to the chase cam made such a massive difference but it certainly felt much easier than when I was using cockpit last night.

guys Im not very familiar with those F1 cars in 80s, but what those F1 drivers did in the past was not using a "sequential shifter" on the the wheel, for those GT6 racers using a wheel to drive Lotus 97T, are you using a clutch instead? What clutch mechanism does the 97T has?
Ive had abs at 0, no traction control or other aids and ive only been using my clutch with h pattern shifter for the british f3 and Lotus. I've beat his time but just barely, not by seconds and its a hell of a foot dance to pull it off, heel toe down shifting and switching to left foot braking in some spots then back to heel toe.

Wait, so he beat senna? I posted senna video on page 6 and senna ran a 1.07.524.

:)
That's intriguing.

I just spent some time with the replay and it looks like the car in the event is using one of the alternate rear wing setups that you can add in the shop. I'm betting that the event uses higher-than-default downforce settings, which, honestly, would make sense for Brands Hatch.

You both posted videos from '86 (according to the youtube titles) which is a year after.

I did all of the challenge yesterday until I got near-gold silver or better (1st time playing in a few months), but the only time I can remember off the top of my head, is for the WSR '83 @ Brands Hatch, which was a '43.180, four-hundredths of a second off Senna's pace.

I just found that being off by such an even number was fascinating :embarrassed:

I still have yet to try-out the racing suits and tweaking the cars to my preferences though.
