Mazda had an RX-8 for the X-men movie that came out, but other then that I can't really think of anything else. I'm guessing you'll see a Transformer edition Camaro come out.

Probably. Although the movie is coming out a few months too early for that...

...Chances are that GM will do a "Jazz Edition" of the Solstice for the movie, and there could be a special Hummer as well, but the Camaro is up in the air...

It may be anyone's guess, but I'd put money on Saleen doing a "Barricade Edition" of the S281...

IIRC the movie Firewall with Harrison Ford did commericals/trailers about the 300C. Something along the lines of "Buy this car and be like Harrison."

Didn't they have a Jeep Rubicon that was a Tomb Raider edition as well?

I love that cell phone tower disguised as a tree in the shot of the Aspen.

Subtle, isn't it? I see that thing almost every day, ever since it first went up, and it never fails to remind me how stupid it is.

Hope you enjoyed them, as always! 👍

Yes, I always do. Tuppy: 👍

Tree for the three-day weekend I had:

Volkswagen GTI Fahrenheit

Strangely, I had just seen one a few days earlier at NYIAS, thinking it would be a long time before I saw one again.

Plymouth AAR 'Cuda, Chevrolet El Camino SS

I heard, then saw, the 'Cuda two blocks away on the far side of the train tracks. I knew exactly where it would be. There's probably not a single muscle car owner in the area who doesn't go to this garage to get things checked out.

International CXT

Yes, another one. Only this time it took me by surprise. I heard some truck behind me, and didn't think anything of it until it was right about where that picture is. The roads in that area are kind of all a dead end, but somehow the truck was gone within minutes. Otherwise, I'd have a better photo to post.

Oh, I went here, and saw these things.

And, uh, apparently this is a real place....

Saw my first SL65 AMG yesterday, driving down Highway 37 towards marine world (anyone that lives in that area knows that car does belong there) That thing sounded like hell when the guy got on it. Could you imagine what a full exhaust system would sound like?

The car has 738 pound-feet.

So, no.

So these photos will be smaller than my usual postings. I had the camera on multi-burst all day so I was taking 16 pictures each time I pressed to take a picture. Anyhow, only a few things caught my eye.

Is that at Castle Combe? Used to go and watch the National Mobile Windscreens Championship there a lot when I was but a wee scamp.

At some point someone is going to have to stop the photos of boring cars.
One could argue that seeing the same Ferrari, Lamborghini, Rolls-Royce, and Bentley models are boring, but I wouldn't care to do so...

...I think what he found was interesting, as I have yet to see a newer 5-series wagon as of yet. Maybe once at an auto show, but rarely on the road...

What it comes down to is that not everyone gets to see something drastically cool every day, nor seeks these cars on a daily basis. While a 530xi may be 'boring' to some, to others it is a neat, rather rare car. There are gems like that all over the country, and it is a little silly to write it off because it doesn't have a 500 BHP V10.

I'd look at it this way: It isn't like we are taking pictures of Camrys and Accords, so I wouldn't worry much about it. Sometimes when you are driving there are cars that make you go 'huh' and it may be interesting to have them on the internets. My XLR posting the other day wasn't particularly spectacular outside of the bumper-stickers (still odd...), but I still posted it...

To each his own I guess. If I see a random, odd, quirky car, I'm likely going to take a photo of it, and there is a good chance I'd post it too. Good or bad, I find a lot of the 'average' findings to be the most interesting on average, as I can find photos of a Gallardo or F430 almost anywhere on the interweb... But an Isusu Impluse RS? Now thats something worth posting. A Subaru BRAT? Its good just for a laugh.

...Don't be so hard on the man. He lives in Detroit. Anything foreign is a rarity there...
+REP for a great post! (EDIT: "You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to YSSMAN again.)

I just got back from Vegas and if I see one more Lambo or Ferrari less than five years old I'm going to puke. :D
(although I must admit, it was nice to see the new LP640 in person)

Even the Bugatti Veyron, of which I spotted two within 50 yards of each other near the VIP Club at the Vegas Grand Prix, has lost a good deal of its appeal from all the coverage it gets, at least for me it has.

Over the weekend I did see an unusual purple Spectraflame painted Salen 7 (thought it might be owned by Prince, who just opened a club at the Rio). Frankly though, of all the modern high performance sports cars I saw this weekend, the only one that really caught my attention was a Spyker C8 Spyder, which I had only seen once before in person. It is much better looking in person than in print. 👍

Fortunately, the "car spotting" this weekend wasn't ruined by all the over exposed modern super cars. A visit with Bob Best over at AC resulted in a mini-preview of some of the cars they will be auctioning off at this year's Blackhawk Expo at Pebble Beach. 👍

I'm just very disappointed I missed seeing the 1955 Fiat 8V Elaborata Zagato and the 1962 Aston Martin DB4 GT Zagato which they had only recently sold. They got $3 million for the DB4 GT Zagato, but wouldn't tell me how much the Elaborata Zagato went for...

I did take some pics of a few of my favorites. I'll post them when I get a chance.

Oddly, I saw a 2 rear-wiper Camry estate too yesterday.

I rarely, if ever see these things, even in the American car capital of the world. I honestly can't believe people bought the newer retro Thunderbird. Oh and yes I'm taking a picture while driving 80 in a snow storm.

Thats odd, I see a fair amount of them around here, they are worse every time too, though I must admit I have a 1:43 thunderturkey sitting on the shelf...

I guess all the auto workers despised the damn things and no one bought them.

Well, here are a few odd spots from the past two days, none of which are too outstandingly special, but at least interesting I guess...

I was going to the doctor this morning and came across something I don't see too frequently, a BMW X3. Beyond that, most of the X3s around here are either black or silver, as I rarely see one outside of those parameters, hell, most BMWs ever in a blue color like that...

Oh, and check out the old Fox-Body Mustang DX next to it. I believe that is the one with the four-pot if I recall correctly... Oh, and there is a 'newish' Zephyr-turned-MKZ up there as well. I still hate the tail-lights, but otherwise its a nice-looking car...

That would be a Suzuki XL-7. That is the first one I've seen on the road since the restyle that I can recall, and all it received was a resounding 'meh' from the interior of my car. The guy driving it was a total douchebag, and a bit further up the road the DHL Van, myself, and another car successfully blocked him into a slow lane for about three miles, effectively driving him crazy. It was awesome...

...This was taken just before I spotted the X3 too. Note the gray skies, the snow was coming. About an hour or so later it started snowing pretty hard here, and we ended up with two or three inches...

Hooray for the Range Rover Sport! It is one of my favorite SUVs, and any moment I see one, I cherish it. The lady behind the wheel was smokin' hot, and she was driving crazily through the neighborhood before stopping at the light. At one time I was following her doing roughly 50 in a 35, not to mention going through a school zone. Sweet.

The Pacifica there I think is the moderately re-styled '07, but it is hard to tell for sure, as I based it on the look of the headlamps I saw when it came up behind me. Sweet MKZ billboard too...

Damn it you guys got 3 inches?

But nice spot on the Suzuki XL-7, I'm yet to see one.

Yeah, roughly three inches out there when I went to buy Pizza at 7PM. The picture on the bottom was taken on Tuesday... It was actually kinda nice that day...

What if the Thunderbird had decided they weren't going down that sliproad, and braked hard and changed into your lane while you're fumbling about with your camera?

You could then come here and tell us about your real accident...

The roads weren't slippery, it was seriously in the 60's a couple days ago. The asphalt was still pretty warm and it was just wet, it also wasn't as snowing that bad as you can see from the picture. Plus we live in Michigan, people know how to drive in poor weather, it's just something we can do.

If it was grossly unsafe I wouldn't do it, taking a picture while driving is no different then talking on your cell phone or fumbling with the radio.

I can confirm those details, as I live on the opposite side of the state where we usually get more snow. Driving out there in that situation he was in doesn't look too bad, just wet roads. We're crazy in this state, as I know people who will still do over the speed limit (70 MPH) on the highway with snow stuck to the pavement...

Now whats dangerous is what I do... Try to drive through the city, taking photos with my cell-phone, all while driving stick. FUN!

Of the three Retro cars done in the past decade by the Big Three, I'd have to say that the T-Bird was the second best, behind the Prowler. It needed the Mustang engine, or a light pressure supercharger, and it would have been perfect as a retro car. The problem was that the car was heavy for the power it had and that the T-Bird had dramatically changed in style since the 1950s. If it had had more power, this would have been ignorable. It was a touch expensive, but then again all three were.
Ironically, the T-Bird had all of the things that the Prowler needed to be perfect: a 5 Speed transmission and a lightweight, smooth and rev-happy V8.

That or a chassis that didn't bend like salt-water taffy...

They could have easily stiffened it up. Look at the Lincoln LS and S-Type, for example. They just didn't bother. My guess is that they didn't think it would be doing any serious handling (which they were probably more right than wrong), but the car suffered as a result.
