I only have the F1090, and was wondering what is the difference in speed/handling with all the other F1 cars. Namely the F686 and the F094. And which one do you prefer?

I prefer the Polyphony 001 (which is only in the PAL games)...I've heard that the F094/s is the best F1...I believe the 90s and above cars are NA, and the 80s F1 cars are Turbos...

gah, a lil more than that por favor ving

I was wondering the same thing, but I'm only lacking the F090/H due to my success in the F1 championship, completing PL at the same time, and enough $ in my account to buy another from the F1 championship on a different memory card. :D Gotta love the shortcuts... but i'm dreading the 78 lap mistral race... think I'll do it today.

The F094/S and Polyphony 001 are the best F1's in the game. I believe they are supposed to be identical. The F094/S is definately my favorite.

I dont remember where I saw this, but the first number of the car is how many cylinders it has. So a F094/S would have 10 ( NA ) cylinders, and a F686/M would have 6 cylinders ( turbo ).

The next 2 numbers represent the year that F1 was raced, so again with the F094/s, its a 1994 model, as compared to the F686/M being a 1986 model.

Finally the letter stands for the driver, where F094/S is Senna, F686/M I believe is Mansell, F094/H is Hill, and i forget the F687, and F688.

So just by looking at the different era's, you can tell that the 90's F1's will corner better, but the 80's F1's have some pretty powerful turbo engines.

Hope this clears things up abit

ah, thank you
why don't they just put a powerful turbo into a frame that corners good? (I know, it's prolly a stupid question)

I prefer an N/A with plenty of power rather than a Turbo
But then again the turbo F1's arent as powerful so I cant say for sure cos there aint one to drive but prefer an N/A over Turbo
I have a 001 which is black and white and its different to me other 001 which is all black  :dazed:
Is it a collectors edition ??

There were regulation changes made by the FIA which banned turbo engines in F1. This is why the 90's car are non-turbo.

The benefit of this is that manufacturers have to engineer NA engines with a limited displacement and number of cylinders. This has an effect of technological advancements, which can be seen in street cars with small NA engines, but with more horsepower than some bigger engines.

And anyhow, the technology has progressed so much that the F1 NA engines are becoming just as powerful as the 80's turbo engines.

The F094/S and Polyphony 001 are mechanically identical, but look slightly different to one another.

The F094/S is a pure 1994 Williams F1 car. The Polyphony 001 is mostly the same car, but with a 1995 Benetton nose cone grafted on.

BigJim - There are 14 different colours of P001 and P002. The black JPS-a-like P001 is close on the best looking car in the game, but you can also get: black & white; black, white & yellow; red & white; green, yellow & white; and blue, light blue and white.

You should try doing the Dream Car Championship or Poliphony Digital Cup in Professional. Make sure you get enough points to win the series without doing the last race, or last two races whichever is possible depending on the series. Save your game before the last race. Then just quit out of the last race and hope to get the F1. if that doesnt work, reload your game and try again.
Dream Car Championship gets you the F090/S and PD cup the F094/S. This is probably the easiest way.

Good Luck

Thanks guys, much appreciated

I'm actually mid-way through the Pro Dream Car Championship right now, I've just won Midfield and I'm waiting for the TV to be free before I finish it.

Thanks again :)

Check the nosecone... :D

thats way different in the front compared to a F094/S. The front end of the F094/S dips like mad.

Thx for showing pic, atleast i know they arent exactly the same. Does it affect the aerodynamics tho? Or are the two cars the same aerodynamically, but just look different?

looks like I need to do some more racin then - I want to get them ALL and save them on me second memory card with zero miles on them - Like the red one you posted - u dont drive it do ya ? No miles on it I see !!

Actually, that screenshot is from my "Perfect" garage. Every car in it is 0.0 miles - and note miles, not km... I converted it from a US save so I can do mph :D

In my first-ever game, I racked up 1400 miles on a red/white P001 like that one. When I do OLRs and fast laps - anything people might see - I ALWAYS use the pure black one.

Do I what the P001 and P002?

I'm guessing at the question, but the answer is "you can't". Although the file is converted from the US, the cars are PAL ones. The P001 is labelled F094/S, but clearly IS the P001 (nosecone... :D), the P002 is labelled F688/S, but clearly IS the P002 (front wing, again).

Any race you can win a F09n/x you get the P001, any race you can win an F68n/x you get a P002. With a US gamesave on an NTSC disc you'd get the F09n/x and F68n/x as usual.
