It is a fantastic game, although the sheer lack of feedback on controller and the limited locations are a bit of a downfall, to say the least.

Hope so. I'd pay good money for DLC for this.

I wouldn't. I don't believe the final game has enough content to start asking for paid dlc.

It's strange that we paid the same amount of money for the previous games (when new) and received far more content.

I like the game a lot more than WRC or Sebastian Loeb Rally. Just wish it had enough roads to drive these cars.

The RS200 is in Group B 4WD class.
There is one Evo in game, in the R4 class.
Toyota not there is clearly a licensing problem they had. Unfortunate but just how it is.

I was referring to the '90s era EVO. The time where these cars really shined.

Obviously I understand the license issues. Not only that but availability can be a problem too. It must be difficult to gain access to private owners or museums willing to let a group of strangers play around the car.

Co-driver volume can be adjusted (at least on PC) relative to other sounds.

Done that. Reduced every other slider as much as it let's me and I still can't hear him. It strange that the sliders don't go lower than 50.

I agree with Co pilot. I've turned engine volume down to 80 and still having problems hearing him every time. It might be because I'm focusing too hard on the road in front of me...

Like I said, I've reduce every slider to the minimum allowed and still can't hear him right.

However I did found a neat trick. The PS4 version allows for the Co-driver voice to be output through the controller speaker. I adjusted the speaker volume to the maximum and reduce the the TV volume.
Although it helps, I still feel like it could have been so much better.

No disrespect for the guy who voiced the pace notes, but his delivery lacks the punch and urgency from previous games. He's very monotone.
It could be their software or the guy, we'll never know.

I'll also never know why Nicky Grist wasn't asked to read the notes. Man that was the highlight for me on CMR3!

90s? What, the rallycross cars?

No, my mistake. I was visualizing DiRT3 menus (rally cars are sorted by era/years). I am talking about the 90's Group A cars, currently only featuring three cars and lacking those cars direct rivals. The Impreza rival being the EVO and the Delta being the Celica.

I have now got to the stage where i recognise most corners, which takes the fun out of rallying.

I see your point but I also disagree. That's when you can focus entirely on driving the car and chase better stage times. The great physics don't go anywhere.

I've just bought Dirt Rally for the PC. :)

I haven't done much rallying since Colin McRae Rally on the PS1, so this will be fun. Hopefully it will live up to my expectations, I guess that I'll find out once it finally downloads. :sly:

Regarding co-driver being too quiet, from my experience in rally games it is difficult to hear vocal speech over engine/environmental sounds if you use TV speakers. But if you use headphones you can hear the co-driver calls more clearly (just like it is in real life).

Makes sense. However I've played multiple rally games since the original PlayStation and this has never been an issue. Even Gran Turismo 5 co-driver was alright. So why do I find this to be the first and only game that has this issue?
Could it be their sound software? Perhaps the way it prioritizes environment sounds over voice handicaps the ability to listen to the co-driver to certain players?

I noticed sometimes when you're at low revs when you "trigger" the pace note, it'll be really quiet. For example, this happens at the launch and when you're feathering the throttle. The higher the revs, the louder the pacenote will be (to an extent).

Anyone have a recomendation of which class and car to use in the Clubman championship in Rally?
Really that should be your own preference. I mean you can take whatever car you like all the way through or select the ones you like for each of the class-levels. I made the mistake of following 60s with 70s and didn't really enjoy the latter (mind you, that was likely because I can't tune and don't like RWD cars) but for the same money I could have gone straight to F2 Kit cars or 2011 Rally. It really is you choice, but if you wish to use the higher class cars, you'll need to do some of the daily/weekly rallies and/or the Custom Championship where you can levels cars up and earn cash.

I think it's more about speed through the checkpoints than that. Can go really slow and he'll sound really bored and depressed.

I have noticed on Sweden that the co-driver will outright skip calling certain corners if you have your calls set to Late. The icons will still show up on screen but he'll stay silent no matter how slow you approach them.

Cant understand why its even possible too set the notes too late, maybe if you want too simulate a crap co-driver, sounds like fun

DiRT rally has got limited content but to be fair at least they weren't saying there was more in it but on release it was missing. That's the key difference for me I knew exactly what i was getting for my £40 but decided I really had to have this game.
A certain other game said there would be stuff in it that was missing (even said in the nice shiny booklet perversely)... That is the glaring difference to me.
I don't feel in anyway cheated with DiRT rally as they have been pretty open about the game and if by buying DiRT along with others we have proven to codemasters to stick to this formula and give us a bigger game next time then I'm golden.

The lack of course content is irrelevant for me. I could probably spend the rest of my life trying to master one single stage with one single car. For being a lifelong rally fan, I couldn't be worse at it. But I do feel for you guys who are good at it.

That said, this game is enjoyable enough that I might make some inroads if I can find the time to play. I really like the night stages, looks really good (PS4.)

Everybody has different preferences I guess. I like late calls, and on some stages they still feel too early.

That I can totally understand, but with too late notes, I mean notes who is so late that its too late to brake for the turn.

I feel the notes are pretty good, but maybe a bit inconsistant, even a track in Monaco, where it stand 2 right on the screen and co-driver say 3 right, sometimes wonder if they made it that way on purpose, too add a more human element too it

Currently doing the last event in the Elite Championship and I'm seriously getting 🤬 fed up with the snowbanks in Sweden. I haven't really noticed it until right now or even gotten annoyed by it. Either way, my conclusion is that they merely act like magnets that suck your car in and spin you out. There's not much else to it. ''Simulating the sensation of soft snow at the sides of the stage'' my ass.

^Same here. Not sure what the solution is but I think the snow banks could be a little more forgiving really, or easier to avoid or drive through...

I completely suck at hillclimb events, I just can't seem to keep a good pace with all those scary cliffs and whatnot (they come out of nowhere!) so I really need to learn the course. I ditched the 205 T16 in favor of the Quattro since the Peugeot had some serious turbo lag and stopped the car mid-hairpin, but I still can't seem to advance to the next championship even after some really good runs (aka not flying off cliffs or getting any time penalties at all).

The problem with not knowing what you are doing with tuning, is when you forget too save a good setup, dont know why it worked

Not the most popular combo, but was playing around with classic rallycross on Hell, and was 0.01sec behind WR, heartbreaking too see my setup did not save 🤬
