Never freakin happy are you Ed? I will do that tomorrow, as I am currently lying in bed trying to get to sleep

Some of my choices:

  1. Spyker Laviolette (fabulous)
  2. Audi RS4 (that'll keep Holden happy...)
  3. TVR 350C (mmmm)
  4. Renault Alpine A310 (a pig - can we make it good?)
  5. BMW M Coupe (love it!)

Interesting line-up, wierd as I am I love the A310.

I was going to suggest one, fully tuned Mazda AZ-1 for the Deep Forest round, now thats a different car, and its amazing fun.

I'm sorry, Scaff, The Spyker is definitely the car for Deep Forest! Just go into one of those tunnels, stop, and rev the engine! But a lot of people talk about the AZ-1 and I've never driven it. Would you like to suggest a tuning level for it? Equipment etc? It would be good at Autumn Ring Mini wouldn't it?

And I'd love to come up with a decent set-up for the A310. I'm convinced that it's impossible to dial out the oversteer... It's a challenge...

Capuccino,it's good,or maybe the old skyline RS turbo C!

Done and done on both, I will dig out the spec for the AZ-1 should be fun around the Mini 'ring.

The A310 I have a decent set-up for that so It should be fun to see what others come up with.

Edited to add.

Right just spoke to my contact at Mazda and they can let us have a small number of AZ-1's for use at Autumn Ring Mini, the cars, while old were converted for a now closed Japanese race series and as such have a very impressive spec.

Mazda Autozam AZ-1

Oil Change
Racing Exhaust
Chip
S1 control tyres
Stage 3 turbo
Large Racing Intercooler
Brake Balance Controller
Racing Suspension
Fully Customisable Transmission
Triple Plate Clutch
Racing Flywheel
Weight Reduction Stage 3
Port Polish
Engine Balance
Stiffness & Chassis Refresh
Fully Customisable LSD
Wing

Now tell me that doesn't look like fun.

Is there NA version?

I'm quite sure I could convince Mazda to convert a few of them to a NA tune, but be aware they will be down on power from the Turbo versions.

I will check with them and get back to you.

Ok,thanks Scaff,that would be 👍
Anyway, can they match the power? It's not problem if they can't anyway, but it would be nice!

Right just got back from having a look and bad news, no NA option on the AZ-1, the little triple cylinder engine just can't hack it without the turbo (even in the above sepc its only pushing 120 odd bhp).:grumpy:

The good news however is that it has very, very little in the way of turbo lag. :)

***STOP PRESS***

Just noticed that TT does have Motorland on it, so it looks like we have a choice do we go for Motorland or Autumn Ring Mini?

I still have a slight prefence for Autumn Ring Mini, but it would not be the end of my world if we went for Motorland.

Anyway I'm off to look at a bike to use, Ed you seriously have to get TT, you will love it and its going to make the next series so much fun.

Scaff

That's good when it's no laggy, than i accept the turbo!

You got to check This Link

EDIT:question for Scaff, and other mods,is my avatar rude,it's not like the monkey having sex with the car or something, monkey is just shaking an AE86 :D

It does? *runs off to check*

So it is!

But I think The Mini Ring!

Here ya go Ed, happy now? sheesh!

hehehe try this one! ^^^

The banner is looking fantastic,, But what I was wondering,, If I get it good,, we can still pick cars of our choice,, but there will also be control cars.. Too see how you stack up against the other drivers here right? Like the Lotus Elise challenge.. I love it that there will be a second track day:)

You have it correct Deathwish, we are still wporking out how many cars in total, but it is looking like it will still be 3 cars of our choice, plus one control car, plus one bike.

Hope to see you for the next one mate, it should be good.

That's where we are just now. I'll put it in the first post. Crikey that's 5! but then if that's too many, you don't have to run them all...

Let's have some more dark horses: there must be loads of cars you want to introduce to people... Still three places to fill.

Here's one: Renault Megane, tuned and lightened to match the new hot version, the F1, which has 225 bhp. But I don't want to monopolise the suggestions...

Thanks Deathwish, I'd be interested to see what people think of that car and how well it compares to the Focus RS or the Civic TypeR.

By the way, if we're using bikes, then I think Autumn Ring mini will be better: it strikes me as a more flowing circuit for bikes than Motorland.

I'm up for the Megane as well.

I would agree on the Autumn Ring Mini, you will not find many TT owners who disagree, the track is used a lot with the lower level bikes (and the bloody scooters) so we all have a lot of time on it.

I vote that we start a new series next weekend. Give everyone a chance to discuss the new one, and have a break, and then get back into it, so as not to let it get stale. Your votes?

-edit-
I forgot to mention, that Ed and I worked out that we need a compulsory wednesday timepost, unless there are extenuating curcumstances (ie. family issues, no access to PS2, way too busy, etc.) but not just because your times are slow, or you want to spring your times on the other drivers late in the week. This is to promote activity and competition between drivers, and give everyone a target point midweek. I have been guilty of not posting because of slow times, but this was a joint decicion between Ed and I, and I think that most of you will agree with it.

I was going to come to that. I think next week is a bit soon. If I'm to completely re-hash the classes (which we haven't discussed yet) I need a bit of time to figure it out and write it all up.

One thing that has been sugggested to me (thanks to ICallShotugun) is a new points system; this was his idea:

ICallShotgun
As for the point system, a spreadsheet could be utilized. say 1st place tooks 94.525 seconds to get around a track, 2nd took 95.124 seconds. 1st place would get 1000 pts, and 2nd would get ((94.525 / 95.124) * 1000) = 990.83 pts and so on. (1st time / x place time) * 1000 = whatever points you get. total points at the end of the "season" gives you your class champions in each class/category.

I think this would give a great scoring system that would help those who are really close in times, and it would allow the lower classes to compete more effectively, and give them more credit for good performances.

As to the classes, I'd like to do something related to power to weight ratios (possibly with a handicap bonus for FF and older cars), but exactly how it would work I'm not yet sure about. I'm halfway through a study of drivetrains that would help, and I need to study the results we have and compare them with hp/kg rates, and find an easy way to tell ppl what hp/kg rates their car has etc, etc.

So I'm afraid we're not nearly ready to get started yet.

No problem Eddie. I think the new points system will be good for the sport as a whole. I might have to get in on the VTD this time.

That poiint system seems to be a little complicated to me, but I guess it would be easy enough to impliment using excell of similar. Just make sure the results are posted in .txt or .doc format, as I don't have excell. Hopefully by then I will have a suite to be able to read it, but no guarantees.

Actually it's really easy, just a little math that once you get the trick (AKA Formula), which I talked w/ Eddie about, it's quite simple and very effective. I think also that this will, over the course of VTD and it's many different places and types of tracks, will show a better OVERALL driver.

A driver can be blistering fast on, say, SartheII and be TERRIBLE at Monaco, while someone else might not be the fastest at SartheII, but will be better at a more technical track. Consistency is key here, not throwing down a great lap and following it up with crap.

Ok, I've been having a look at these classes. I've put together a working sheet showing (in order within the divisions) the power to weight ratios of the cars we used, and the times achieved by Famine's B-Spec, Pestilence, at Trial Mountain, which I'll come back to in a later post.

The figures in brackets indicate the positions each car/driver finished VTD1 in (in the points table). This can be a little misleading, unfortunately, as not everyone got a complete set of points, but it should give you some idea as to how the hp/Tn figure compares with what actually happened.

Take a look at it and see if we can find some basis for a class system. Where do we draw the lines? Are some cars at a disadvantage (eg FF)?

Scaff will be pleased to note that by both criteria (B-spec times, and hp/Tn) his GTO should have been the slowest.:D

umm, eeeeeeeddddieeee... You stuffed up a lill bit

Power To Weight Ratio Order.doc
l2ev: Cpes&sals; 321+bhp; Commodore SS 2004; (1) 1’45.442” 197.2
gooseter: Cpes&sals; 321+bhp; Holden Monaro CV8; (7) 1’45.363” 197.2

That is the order you had them in, have a look at the times. Not that it matters, but I am a little bit fussy when it comes to details like that...

The times are those achieved by B-Spec Bob (sorry, Pestilence) at Trial Mountain. The numbers in brackets refer to the positions those cars finished in the points in VTD 1. They are not necessarily related. And I never said that this list was in time order. It's not. The times are there because I got both sets of information at the same time from the same source. I have another list that is in time order, and we'll have a look at that later. Just ignore them.
